Thanks for the new thread George! Now we don't lose the old thread :)

I reckon this is only because the thread wasn't discovered yet... maybe coz it's in the forum of a player like Gaudio that's been so inactive for so long that people have forgotten who he is or something

Anway, other places like the Djokovic and Safin chat threads were also locked and had new ones started but the original ones were moved to the pit of doom anyway, so I don't know how this one escaped

What supposed to be a long Easter weekend didn't turn out like that.
I just got back from hospital. Had to take João to emergency because he had diarrea and had been vomiting since yesterday evening and with his stomach history this isn't good at all
They kept him there because they want to monitor his condition. The blood test did show signs of infection and I know this sounds crazy but this made me feel a bit better, because I already had doom thoughts about other things.

I do hope it's "only" an infection but he didn't have a fever which is strange then.

Choupi
04-12-2009, 07:57 AM
Martine, sorry about Joao. Good news that it's only some infection. And you know, not all infections imply fever. Hope he will recover from that and come back home as soon as possible

Choupi
04-12-2009, 10:09 AM
Well, it's just based on my own experience. I hardly ever have fever. Even when there are other obvious signs of infection, I don't have fever. I can't say I have an infection if I only consider the fever criteria. But when I do have fever, believe me, it's that I'm really really sick.

Just got back from hospital. Joćo is feeling a lot better then yesterday but when he eats something, his stomach still bothers him a lot (too much acid). They try to keep the acid under control with medication and it's better but not at all gone.
He has to stay for at least a couple of days, because they want to do a closer examination, but with the Easter weekend most of the staff isn't there.
He has a baxter with the medication but he doesn't like that at all. Said he'd much rather take a girl for a walk then this stupid thing on wheels :p Well, at least that's the Joćo I know and like much better then the one I took to hospital yesterday

Had my tooth looked at today. The dentist had to take the root that was remaining out of the gum so I'm in pain

As for the missing tooth problem, the best solution they came up with is that I get a new tooth bonded onto the teeth either side of it. This will cost about $500... there is not a total guarantee that it will stick though so I will pray that there is no problem. Other than that I could get a dental bridge costing $4000 - but they they have to drill into the teeth either side and I don't really want that! I could maybe as a 3rd option get braces to move the tooth next to it over. We'll see.

It was funny that you were so apprehensive about going to this event, but good that you realised it wasn't such a bad thing and had fun.

Any reason of not taking Machado pics? Was it the grunting that put you off? Sirianni is a very interesting guy, he didn't get any help at all from Tennis Australia, at a time when he needed the funding early in his career. Luczak got some cash recently, but Sirianni got nothing and played a lot of league tennis in Italy and the Netherlands, so this how he made his living, while he was struggling.

To be honest I didn't watch Machado playing because I was busy doing other stuff. Sadly I missed the opportunity to chat with Sirianni, we were watching a match sitting side by side. Well, felt too shy to do it.

Looking forward to my next tournament, most likely Barcelona next year.

Lots of fish, potatoes and game meat.

Fårikål, which is lamb stew with cabbage, it's meant to have mutton, fuck mutton, when I can have lamb, it served with potatoes.

The one I prefer is called lapskaus.

500g stewing beef, cubed
1 large onion, chopped
1/4 swede (rutabage), peeled and roughly cubed
500g potatoes, peeled and cubed
450g carrots, peeled and cubed
2 green bell peppers, chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
80g of pearl barley (or lentils)
1/2 cabbage, shredded
400g wild mushrooms (if available), sliced
salt to taste
lots of freshly-ground black pepper
butter to fry

I use them even for the slams. If you have a decent stream, the quality is pretty good.
Advantage also is that you don't have the buffering when you watch it afterwards :)

You need Windows Media Recorder for the windows based streams and Replay Media Catcher for the Flash streams. With those 2 you can record almost anything.

So which one is bwin then WMR or Replay Media Catcher?

martine2
05-05-2009, 05:20 PM
I never recorder Bwin because the screen is so small.

Betfair and Bet365 are Replay MC
AMS MS TV and Eurosport player are WMR
But the program detects it itself.
If you open WMR in automatic version then it automatically detects the stream and starts recording (if it is a WM stream)
Same with Replay MC. You open the program and then you start a stream and it automatically starts recording.
So what I do in case I don't know is open both programs and then start my stream. The right program will start recording then :D (yes, that's how blondes solve the problem if they can't identify the stream :p)

The effectiveness of fun depends on which finger it was, the finger-related condition has a limited impact on the ability to perform routine activities though.

A clown dressed as a matador brings about waves of laughter, then again, can't say the same for the flamenco dancer posing male. On the other hand, misfiring Marcos is in big trouble.

in equal measure in terms of sickness is the inability to understand the full meaning of the phrase it takes two to tango... would be nice to see people just to understand from the beginning that very little lasts forever... life is fluid... better to roll with the punches than to row upstream... a lot of wasted energy lay in that state of mind... and hurts more than just two... i love my people, but, in the muted exile of my choice on the other side of the planet, i treat both with equal doses of silence on account of the one... never seemed right to not treat both equally...

Well he was originally doing his "farewell tour" this year. Just playing as many tournaments as he could with his protected ranking and playing for fun cos he knows his back is not good.

After his back stuffed up again at the AO he played out doubles and said he'd retired... but I can only assume his back is feeling good enough again that he can continue his original plan. He played doubles in Belgrade this week with Horia (although they lost first round) and he's also on the entry list for RG :)

I'm very, very excited that he's feeling good enough to get back on court again and enjoy his farewell year. I hope his back can hold out good enough to get him through the year

and therefore, James Joyce's "Finnegans wake"...

"... Almost every word in the Wake is a portmanteau word, whether visually or aurally, or both. Sometimes the double (or triple or quadruple or more) meanings are profound, sometimes trivial, often both at the same time. For example, at one point the text says "Wipe your glosses with what you know." Every reader has to do this: you respond to each word and interpret it ("gloss" it) based on what you recognize in it. But you also wipe your glasses, and you wipe your asses, not only with what you know but with you know what.

Famously, the title of the book is a portmanteau word. At one level, it refers to an Irish pub song called "Finnegan's Wake," about the funeral of a man named Finnegan who fell off a ladder. It can also mean "in the wake of Finnegan," that is, everything post-Finnegan. It can also be "Finnegan is awake" or "Finn again is awake." Because it doesn't have an apostrophe, it can be "Finnegans, Wake!"—wake up, all you Finnegans. "Finn" is Finn MacCool, a hero in Irish legend (who lies sleeping under all of Dublin and who will once again wake up). "Fin" is French for ending. And this is just a start.

The title is very often printed incorrectly with an apostrophe. Now you know better and can feel superior to those who make the mistake... "
