Martine, I see you found my Antwerp/Paris album before I published it!! I haven't finished captioning and it was SUPPOSED to be set so that only I could see it so I have no idea what happened there :p

ANYWAY, I'll need your help telling me what some places are called if you can - pretty much anything I haven't captioned when I publish it I'll appreciate help with ;)

I'm not superstitious, but hey is it Friday the 13th today??

Got up early this morning because I still had to go shopping before work
Left in time but heard on the radio that there was an accident on the highway...
Took the small roads, which takes a lot more time... :( ...and then there is this other car coming from the opposite direction, driving too fast, slipping on the rainy road and sliding right towards me.
Hardy misses my car, but not the side mirror which gets a hard blow... and the other car just drives on before I can see his license plate...
I managed to push the mirror back into place but the glass came out and was dangling on the wires from the electric heating. I had to drive with my window open and keep the glass into place to avoid more damage.
Drove to the shop and there they were so nice to give me some tape to put it into place again.

Then I arrive at work and I read the news about Lucho...

Now I just got a call from João that he doesn't manage to get the laptop working...

And NO, I'm not superstitious :p

This week's been awful for me with Fab playing his last match. Thankfully, I don't get coverage of Berçy so that helped a bit, not being able to watch anything. But there will always be a huge gap from now on, even though I'm supporting other players...

Thank you!!!!! The main one I was getting annoyed about was Concience Plein because I tried looking it up for ages but couldn't find a picture of it on the internet with a name! (and the one you commented with Lange Wapper... did you see I had mentioned him in the photo after that one ;) ). With the Schelde/Scheldt thing I get confused... don't know which to label it becauses if I name that in the Dutch way I should probably name the album Antwerpen instead of Antwerp too!

Well yeah I'm kind of thinking of him more like a former Arsenal player than a current Barca one at the moment... but when it comes down to it, how many players would seriously go to the ref and say "Hey ref, I just handled the ball so you'd better not allow that goal"... but then again, he shouldn't have deliberately handled it in the first place. Very bad form. I wish he did not play for my team right now :(

Cantona made some interesting comments about it, he said that Henry would only last a few minutes with him, for doing that shit.

This comment sums it up. “What shocks me the most is that this player, at the end of the game, in front of the TV cameras, went to sit down next to an Ireland player to comfort him - when he had just screwed him,” he bluntly told the Sun.

He added: “If I had been an Irishman, he wouldn't have lasted three seconds.”

Snowed here Wed Choups- it was pretty but then freezing rain on top of it so treacherous. They keep the roads very movable here ( at great expense I understand) but still not worth it for me driving home so I stayed at work. I was in this apartment owned by the hospital across the street. It was fine except that it is on the main drag so snowplows all night and then again in the morning. I finally fell asleep at midnight only to be woken up at 4 am by this woman outside screaming her head off about " you mother%$#@IBG white nig%$# ( an oxymoron that) ". I assumed that she was a hooker getting dropped off :tape: Who knows. Knowing the city I work in it could have been anyone. Sad to say.

Wanted to tell you too that my oldie is still with me. Too soon to cry victory, but he's slowly doing better.
Last Wednesday, when I called my vet to tell him about my decision, he said it was too soon to take such a drastic decision and that I should wait at least another 48h to let the treatment do it's work
What happened was he made a wrong movement while playing when I took him for a walk. On the X-ray we could see that he had artrosis on the spine, which is normal at his age (he's 12), and a piece broke off and was pushing against the nerves)
I told him ok on condition that he wouldn't suffer too much, because I didn't want that.
So he told me to increase the morfine, keep him warm and let him rest as much as possible, which we did.
And slowly he started to relax and I could see that he didn't have pain as long as he didn't get up. Every day he's doing a bit better so I'm slowly starting to get some hope again.

It's too soon to cry victory, certainly with his age, but I'm hoping for the best.

I hate wine as well, unless it's in a sauce. I think I am going to make a prawn jambalaya before I leave, just an experiment to see if I can do it. There are a few stalls that aren't too bad, there is a place called the Rösti Chalet. Though I make a good one.

I heard Santoro could be playing in Melbourne.

Got our annual food and wine festival starting today, might wander down there later. At the same time the thing does irritate me in a lot of ways.

I think Fab is meant to be doing it as the man who played in 4 decades.

Rösti is good, haven't made one in ages think I might have to do that this week as I am sick of pasta at the moment. The festival goes for a few days, so no rush to get there.

Hi all.
Haven't been here for a while and also missed all of AO.
I'm losing my dog anyway  He was recovering fine and could already do small walks again. But what he went through asked a lot from his body and undermined his resistance. Last week he caught an infection, had extremely high fever and since then it's going in the wrong direction

This afternoon we go to the vet and it will be his last journey. I'll be calm and he knows the vet very well, so if I act normally, he won't realize what's happening and he'll go in peace.
I'm exhausted as well physically as mentally but still I'm glad I've had the time this last few weeks to take care of him, spoil him rotten and find peace with the goodbye that is coming.

Hugs to you all and AJ & Peta, you guys have a good time at the AO. AJ I hope I'll get a look at that Malisse picture later!

Hi all,

Yes, I'm still alive.
Had a tough time but life goes on and it's no use to sit and cry. But I still do feel like a stranger in my own house without my boy around. I took "Fils", who is the oldest now in the house with me and this also is new for him. But he loves it and he's starting to get used to the "house rules" (such as "furniture is NOT there to be knocked down" and "don't sweep the cups of the table with your tail" :) )

Trying to catch up at work too. My boss was so kind to let me take some time off when things were bad with Tim, but this means a lot of work now of course.

Thanks for those AO reports AJ. Gave me the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere after all :)

Kristen was only able to make it from the first Friday until the 2nd Tuesday. We didn't rent an apartment together because of that. I commuted from home during qualies and then stayed in an apartment from Sunday night until the middle Saturday and then commuted the last few days again.

I've taken a few hundred photos (or more) :p After I deleted all the bad ones I think there were 897. I think about 200 of them are Pico ones :o :o

The one I had real trouble with was photos of Gulbis. A friend wanted some and I said I'd take some IF I saw him... then he of course drew Pico in round 1 so I couldn't get out of it  It was a matter of taking a photo of him and then quickly taking 2 of Pico to cleanse the lens :haha:

Thanks Sue :) You can't imagine how hard I've waiting for that time off work. Things are going crazier and crazier, and having to deal with jerks doesn't help. Though I must admit that having a new boss, a woman, helps a lot ;) I think the poor guy will soon ask to leave the place. Fingers crossed!

Evil boss getting chucked out would be wonderful.

The old winter games are on, good to see that I can avoid that figure skating nonsense and see some real sport. The speed skaters no lack of massive thighs.

I am the only one in house waiting for the figure skaters but the kids and I can't wait for the alpine skiing; go snowboarders:p

The long track speed skating is boring... I guess that's a given for someone like me who hates any athletics event over 1500m ;)

Short track though :rocker2: Crazy stuff and didn't fail to deliver on the drama again today  Laughable watching 2 Koreans take each other out as they are heading to a clean sweep :haha:

Enjoy the holidays Choupi!! And good news about the woman boss. I do hope the jerk is facing a hard time now

A lot of snow again here. Mostly snow is exceptional here in Belgium, but this year we already have snow since mid December. It almost feels as if the Winter Olympics could be in my back yard

He is indeed having a hard time  Hence why I think, like many of my colleagues, that he's gonna ask to leave soon. Maybe for next year.

Same here. We've had around 30 days of snow here since beginning of December. Which is pretty exceptional. I'm fed up with it now. And it's still snowing...
Will go to my dad later, for 2 days.

You must try it, Martine! Chimichurri is a traditional Argentine accompaniment for barbecued meat and sausages, and it´s very easy to prepare (no cooking involved, just mix everything together, add the liquid and leave it to soak). Here´s the standard recipe:
1 red pepper, 1 small tomato, 1 spring onion, 1 tbsp parsley, 2 garlic cloves (all finely chopped).
1 tsp each paprika, oregano and sweet or hot red pepper,
2 chopped bay leaves, salt.
1/2 cup oil, 1 glass each of vinegar and warm water.

In Chile they have a similar recipe, called Pebre, which uses coriander instead of parsley.

There are so many ways of making it and no standard recipe.

Thanks for the recipe Vale! Will certainly try it out.
I also like the "very easy to prepare" :D

What´s happening in Chile is very sad. The mammoth earthquake (8.8 magnitude) is reportedly 500 times stronger than that of Haiti and it ranks among the 10 most powerful quakes on record. Since the main earthquake at 3:34 a.m. there´ve been over 30 aftershocks!

Thanks to the Chilean anti-seismic building regulations for newer buildings there are “only” 214 dead, but there are still lots of people trapped among the rubble. Last May we stayed in Talca, one of the hardest-hit cities, in a lovely old mansion turned hotel, and I wonder if it´s still standing...

Everybody felt it in Bariloche, but in our case we were lucky: we slept through it and found out about it this morning, which means that the house is well-built! But most people have felt the quake: windows shaking and cupboard doors banging, ground moving, walls shaking, potted plants crashing to the ground, people in flats downtown dashing out of their buildings and congregating in the street below.

Other Argentine provinces had it worse, especially Salta, and the tremor was even felt in Buenos Aires!

This is a huge catastrophe that has destroyed Chile, a real tragedy, and there are about two million people affected by the quake.

It's horrible what's happening in Chile, these are times when the in fighting has to fuck off and people pull together.

Just wanted to say goodbye for now: Tomorrow we´re off on a 19-day car trip to the deep south..

We´d done this trip just two years ago, but we realized there were lots of places we longed to see again, so we decided to hit the road once more and travel to the Perito Moreno Glacier, Torres del Paine in Chile and Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. This time we´ll take a different route, travelling along the Ruta 40: a famous 4874 kilometre road that spans the whole country from North to South parallel to the Andes. It´s mostly gravel, and in Patagonia it crosses the arid steppe with just a few villages and outposts along the way where one can buy food and petrol. It won´t be "pretty" scenery, but there´s something fascinating about crossing vast rugged territory, a writer described the feeling as “horizontal vertigo”.
En route we´ll visit the famous “Cueva de las Manos”, a huge cavern where Indians 8000 years ago left hundreds of palm imprints and rock paintings, and on the return journey along a different route close to the Atlantic we´ll visit the Petrified Forest of Jaramillo.

See you soon!

I just logged in and hadn't been here since yesterday. But the info at the right of mùy screen says "You last visited: Today at 12:09 PM"
I had seen this a few times already so I started paying attention to it.

Does this mean someone else is logging in with my password?
