This harassment is too much, having to get an alarm system, good that your neighbours are being vigilant. I mean there used to be a lot of lumberjacks in Maine, too bad he can't go missing in the forest.
It is too much and I have had thoughts as well but that is where they will remain;)
:speakles: Sue... this is unreal... is it that serious?
If you wouldn't live that far away, I'd let one of my dogs keep you company. The jerk would be the one having a problem then if he showed up
Oh man, what I would not give for a dog right now   Yeah it is serious but just below the threshold of action legally. He might be crazy but he isn't stupid.

That would be a good way of handling the situation Marti, but seriously this guy needs to go somewhere far away in another galaxy.

Just watching Haasi and Andreev, also got some challengers to watch as well. Yes, Marti I have been updated that blog.
Will go read :)
Some good people post on Nadull´s chat like Getta ()and hum...other ones but I won´t go there just because they post there.
Anyway I´m just kidding. I won´t harass her. :p
I wish you luck in your work, he will be gone in 1.5 month?

I´m sad that Soderking lost, he lost on the tight points.:mad:

I would have loved to have seen Soderling win it too. At least it was closer than the last time they played. Thanks for the good luck and I have 2.5 months to go and then I work for the hospital and he is gone; hopefully in another state with another job.

Had a shoe blow out, going to have to buy a new pair and that sucks.
Must be the time for it. The sole of my work shoe broke in half on Monday last week and I couldn't get to the store to buy a new pair until Friday so I had multiple cases of cramp in my feet all week because my foot was bending in the wrong spot. There is only 1 particular work shoe that I can wear comfortably with my orthodics and unfortunately they (usually) cost $119... last week they were 'only' $99 which was a bit of a bonus :)
Ok here is an update on the work BS; the one who is an asshole has been mildly upping his harassement of me. Not enough to get him escorted off the premises ( I have another 2.5 months to go before he is officially gone but with vacations planned only 1.5 months of overlap). My lawyer has advised me to put the alarm system in the house on, and send an email to all my neighbors asking them to watch over my house and me since I am alone. Can you believe this crap? I don't think the ass would be that stupid to jeopardize his career but I am told that you never know. I always knew he was crazy but good grief/sweet jesus;) And if it gets worse? A temporary restraing order.

So yesterday I get a call from one of my neighbors whom I had forgotten was a US Marshall  I actually still feel rather safe and at work I have to just make sure I am not alone with the ass. The summer can not go fast enough.
That is absolutely unbelievable Sue. Good luck with it. What a sad, sad human being he must be

yeah mate, i'm gonna be back down under... do a similar jaunt as to what i did this year... won't go to the Big Day Out again though... 40000 ppl and made to drink in a cage for my own safety...?no, not my scene...

it was a high quality trip... it busted me yes, but... it paid me back pretty much immediately - lessons have plenty fire and enthusiasm this way, like earlier tonight...

fast_clay (justin?) I saw some pictures of synthetic grass and clay courts in Australia in th eother thread. Are they very common? I was under the impression that clay courts were nowhere to be found in Oz. And how does synthetic grass play?

yes... justin it is...

i'll explain a few things... cos, well... i enjoy it...

clay was once the surface australia... the proving ground if you like... to explain it in barest terms: tournaments were held all over the place... super popular, as tennis was back in the golden years... a sport without to much rivalry from other sports... now, in the day, most tournaments were held on a type of fast clay... they could range from having no top dressing to speak of and play like a hardcourt (fast)... or, on an overcast day, in an area with high humidity or recent rain play more european so to speak (like the one in the pic you see, closer to the coast line)... a good range, but generally, what you have is a fast_clay... i find the perfect balance bewteen the most opposed styles the game of tennis has ever produced and a great theatre for war of any description... the catergories of tournaments worked like this: first, you would amass a series of results on the lesser tournaments dotted around the countryside which were predominantly played on clay... if you acheived a certain rating or fine record, you then gained entry to invitational tournaments, which were played on grass for the most part... so, the trick was to adapt your game from grass to clay... or, for the more wise and learn'd, adapt it for future success... which is what fast_clay is good for... you could breed an attacker... and yet, still not sacrifice succes as the surface lent itself... and he'd lose nothing further on internationally because he knows how to move on a shifting surface... those were the days... total tennis... grooming an entire game...

you will still find plenty of clay courts out there, but probably a mere fraction of what there once was... and if you did find a few, you may have to pull out a few weeds before play...:brokenspirit:... they may prove a valuable commodity in coming years... to train players on and so forth... as, they have dried up, for one reason or another... mostly being centred around maintenance... of which, none is needed for a surface like synthetic grass... maintenance was never an issue when tennis was at the height of its popularity... there was always a healthy, burgeoning club full of members to all give their time to it... and i mean, i grew up tennis heaven... my parents paid $50 for membership for a full year for a family of 4... and... it didnt matter if you had a family of 9... same price... and access to 8 clay courts... in time, they would even give me a key to the curators shed so i could jump on the motorised roller and get a fresh canvas happening...

my view of synthetic grass has turned 180' degrees over the years... and changed so much due only to the time i spend working in the game itself... i'll explain why in a second... the ball will play, again, depending on recent moisture... so, in this way it is good as it lends itself to a changeable nature as most natural surfaces will, as opposed to hardcourt, which can only ever by dry and thus will play the same way no matter... boring for some... perhaps... on wet or recently wet surface, the ball will skid through, play quicker, bounce lower, and will generally behave much like a natural grass court.. if a synthetic grass court is kept properly, the carpet pile will have a plentiful sand fill, and, in dryer conditions, the ball will 'pop' and sit up more, and a moderate-good slide is no problem should you need... on my visits home over the years i notice the sand dressing more and more... it is like a beach, where you can hardly see the white lines against the green playing surface due to the sand cover... i walked on for a doubles on one such surface and my partner said 'f*** me, bondi'll want it's beach back', yet, i saw this as as the perfect synthetic grass surface - this is in australia... in ireland, this surface is called 'carpet', 'savannah' or 'astroturf' and plays super quick and bounces low for the vast majority of play... you find little sand on these as it just gets washed away again and again, though, the culture behind how they should be kept lacks a little here it must be said...

with the spread of synthetic grass around australia... and knowing the history and strong reasoning behind australia's success, well... i once saw the surface as a cancer to the game in australia... it was the destroyer of what was successful.. the killer of a golden history... a scourge... pest... and... so... the blueprint, lost... the critics were right, no player earns a living on the surface in the wider game, so why would you lay this surface down...? no atp tournament hosts a tournament on the surface.. so why would clubs move in that direction...? sure, there were many great examples, but, none of them aided the main issue i was preoccupied with: greater development, culture, historical success... i detested it so much that i think i talked myself into performing badly on the surface, a moral refusal to play well on it... however, as a return to australia time after a time, and lend my game to a well kept synthetic grass court more and more, i find a wonderful balance bewteen using the skills i developed on clay as a youth, and the grasscourt principles i now spend my days thinking about to produce players in the western isles of europe...

and the 180' change in attitude is just a mindset... like anything, it's in the approach to the issue...

not... 'why is this sh!t...?'

but... 'how can you use this sh!t...?'

to me today, it can be of just as good use as that fast_clay i once knew...

once upon a time, like some refined form of purity, the surface culture educated the generations... today, the educators must do that job...

I shaved right before starting to read that post and need to shave again. ;)

Excellent, thanks for the info. I was under the impression that clay courts had never been popular in Australia. Wrong it seems. So were/are they basically like the Continental clay, only with less top layer or with a harder concrete bottom? As you can see by my user name I love clay that plays fast too... green clay is just the perfect surface for all styles, at least that I've played on. I have found some clay courts that play more fastish over here, but they are few and usually play fast because they just aren't well kept, so I have developed a natural aversion towards them. Would love to play on one that is intended to play like that.

yes... typically, in my part of the world it is a harder compact base, with an even but complete and thin layer of top dressing... on a good, dry day, it would not be uncommon to see a slide mark from the centre of the court to beyond the singles line... i am talking about a ball bearing effect beneath your feet... crushed antbed... think of the longest slide you've ever seen, then, think of it again and again... haha... but, at the other end of my region at a higher altitude, the clay has a soft base and an always plentiful top dressing, and for me the movement was sticky, much like a slow hardcourt... the clay surfaces very much governed by geography...

scott draper won the sattelite masters tourney on the surface i describe... i linesmanned on his run... he was a master on it... a couple of months later, he was in french open 4th round.. 3 years later, queens champion...

Geography. weather patterns, then again how much topsurface is laid down, the base that they are laid upon. RG is laid on limestone, though some other bases could be interesting.

I still hate synthetic grass and yes the courts need to be ripped up and they don't do anything to produce champions. The problem is with what they are doing with the clay here, is they aren't using proper clay, it's synthetic clay and that doesn't do the same thing. Yes, it's slow, but it does not have the same reaction to bounce, it is pretty much the same bounce and we know on clay courts that is not the same thing.

Scott Draper is an excellent golfer and all round good guy, he made the 4th round of RG twice.

You mean that the president of the hospital wasn't aware of this situation at all? Isn't (s)he supposed to have a supervisory responsibility?
Why haven't you already requested a court-issued TRO? Is this just a "low hazard, high outrage" case?

Your faves not as many as I thought, but knowing that it will be the last time you see Fab play a game is emotionally exhausting for sure.

Marcos will really take some stopping in BsAs in December. Last time he visited South America was in 2004 to play a couple of challengers in Brazil... hehe, starts to seem like an Infantino-influenced idea. Nice to hear something a bit different. :yeah:

This situation has for sure been very traumatic for mum and me. We are totally gutted. We moved here 2 years ago and LOVE this house... and it's in the perfect location opposite the train station when I don't drive. Also, the thought of packing up the house again is stressful - although last time we moved we'd been there for 13 years and had accumulated a lot more junk than now.

Finding a new place in this short time that is near enough to the station for me is going to be a nightmare, so many people are looking for housing at the moment :(

My sister has said we can squeeze in with them until we find something, but that will also be a nightmare because it means that I'll be overseas and mum will have to keep looking on her own and maybe even move in while I'm not here... couldn't have come at a worse time.

I'll keep you all updated.

Flavia goes butt Jaked

By Laura Davis

Thursday, 2 July 2009

Olympic swimmer Flavia Zoccari had to back-out of out a championship race at the Mediterranean Games yesterday, after her Jaked swimsuit split to reveal her behind.

The £318 Jaked J01 swimsuit has already sparked controversy as it was banned by FINA (the International Swimming Federation) earlier this year because it gave swimmers wearing it an unfair advantage. The performance-enhancing suits were under scrutiny for using polyurethane which was said to aid athletes' buoyancy, but Jaked protested the ban and it was lifted in June.

Flavia was set to begin the 200m race at the Games in Pescara, Italy, when the wardrobe malfunction occurred, leaving her no time to change before the race. She burst into tears as she was forced to withdraw from the race, and be left behind.

Jaked boasts that the full-body swimsuit - complete with back hinge - is 'more than skin'. Unfortunately for Flavia, it revealed just that

It depends on where you are from to an extent. The tall poppy syndrome is very well known in Norden (Scandinavia). In fact there is a thing that is called Janteloven (do a Google search), obviously it's not official, but the mentality still exists today. It's like yes, sure you are talented, gifted and good, but this does not mean you have to act like an arsehole.

Rafter was never a child prodigy and it helped that he spent a lot of time in Bermuda. He fitted an image that a lot of the dominant ideology wants the Aussie to project in a global world.

yeah... i think the child prodigy thing fits... like Glenn McGrath in your sig... became an australian great, yet, his parent put their house up for mortgage on the edge of the outback in Narromine for him and his old girl to go live in a caravan in the city while he tried to crack the grade in Sydney... always the practical joker, bringing a smile to the face of those around him quite naturally...

i have actually had that quote in my facebook page for a while... and i told the McGrath Brandes comeback quote to two Zimbabwe girls in the queue at Wimbledon after chatting to them about how it sucks that the cricket team has gone to the dogs just at the moment that Zimbabwe were on the edge of holding their own at test level... they had a good laugh... loved eddo...

i forgot about telling the story about pat symcox gettin verballed heavily by the crowd at the SCG, then hit in the back by a half a cooked chicken... only for him to turn around to the crowd... look at the half cooked chicken on the ground... picked it up... and took a bite out of it...

the crowd now worshipped: 'SYYYMMMCCOOOOXX... SYYYMMMCCOOOOXX...'

McGrath was such a tool on the field, he was always chirping and couldn't believe it when he got hit to the boundary, didn't happen very often. But once off the pitch, he wasn't too bad and yes he had the humble background. He ended up getting a go at Sutherland and that pitch was pretty flat. The whole thing with his wife dying of breast cancer and he handled it very well.

Mugabe this is a prick, that I wouldn't mind disappearing. I think Bob Marley must be turning in his grave and Stevie Wonder would be shattered playing at the independence day concert and having this stuff now.

Symcox, the guy was about 2m tall, all legs and no body, didn't get much turn, but some bounce for sure. Symcox moved into the commentary box but quit that in 2006 after Supersport looked to curb some of his more controversial comments about the state of the game.

Anyway, we are going to have plan to meet up at the AO next year.

have a good one in Stuttgart Choupi... my first memory of Stuttgart tourney...? --> 'The scary thing was he hit hardest in the 5th set' Wayne Ferreira on Medvedev, in...i think... '92...

ahhh... 5 set finals at this level was a time when atp was actually connected with what the reality of being a pro player and a pro tennis fan is... whatever happened to that game i loved...

been soakin up the heat in cyprus... got meself a 1.4 litre chrysler... gonna do the highway from ayia napa to nicosia to see baggy take on a couple of my irish mates... baggy vs sorenson 1st up i think... niland vs kallias 2nd... then, i think it'll be me mates o'b n mcgee in the doubles... this could be pivotal as i am nearly certain kallias n baggy will have to fielded in the dubs too... at what i feel will be 1-1 after singles play, then the fitness issue of baggy especially n kallias will be raised against a rested duo in niland and sorenson... looks set to be a classic 'well balanced team vs one man team' cup tie...

sucking on a cold beverage in 35'C heat while watching australia vs england in the cricket reminded me of home... but, my tears couldn't be noticed thru the huge volume of sweat i was pissing from my forehead... my blood isn't so much australian anymore... how soft...

Quick hello from Stuttgart. Nice weather so far. Some players to chase already. Saw a bit of qualies today. Loved Sidorenko. Especially the way his father/coach encourages him in Russian...

Hello again from Stuttgart. Weather´s been playing tricks today. Was raining, pretty heavily this morning, but play hasn´t been affected as no match scheduled before 1PM. Then, we had some sun and things were really fine. But some showers made it a bit uncomfortable again in the late afternoon.
Saw 2 matches, Andujar vs Trujillo-Soller, and Sidorenko vs Meffert. Both matches went 3 sets and were very entertaining. Just sad that Alexandre lost it...but the mood is great here. Just an example, I was sitting close to Carlos Bernardes, and when his colleague Damian Steiner came past, he just threw some water from his bottle on him, and they played like 2 kids. It was really funny.
Saw some training, Simon, Hanescu, Chardy, Davydenko, Junqueira, Koubek. And attended the main draw ceremony with sir Thomas Muster :hearts: :inlove:

Hope everyone´s fine. I feel a bit alone here lately....

Actually, Carlos was watching the match next to where I was because he was checking/coaching a young umpire who was on the chair. They made some reports together after the match.

Now I gotta go. Internet´s free so long queue behind me. Stay tuned for more tomorrow :wavey:

sucking on a cold beverage in 35'C heat while watching australia vs england in the cricket reminded me of home... but, my tears couldn't be noticed thru the huge volume of sweat i was pissing from my forehead... my blood isn't so much australian anymore... how soft...

Thanks Choupi; sounds like fun. Nothing like live tennis :yeah:

Forget the hedges today- I just spent 6 hours straightening the finished part of the basement, getting stuff ready for the goodwill and cleaning. Had not dealt with it in 3 years. Yuck what a friggin mess the 2 oldest made. Between the online bookstore crap and the teen's computer fix it shop it was disgusting. So of course first thing out of hubby's mouth when he just called was " did you throw anything of mine away?"

Tomorrow the back won't stand so the hedges will have to wait another day. Trip to the dump and goodwill awaits  Plus I found that the basement has had a leak through the foundation :sobbing: That was even messier. Never seen so many insect egg cases in my life:p

cyprus was hot... but... hired a chevvy for the week and i drove up to mount olympus... that gave some respite... 38 by the beach... 20 at the foot of the summit... i even ran into a ski lift... who would've imagined that... but then again, it is 2000m... i had some photos, but, i lost my camera.. i fell asleep on the flight home... and, the camera must have fallen out of my pocket... because i have had bad luck with digital cameras i had held off buying one for 8 months... so.. i bought one while on my cyprus odyssey.. and.. my love affair with the camera last not even 5 days... heh heh...

cursed...

the tennis was great and without doubt the crucial rubber of the tie was the first when sorensen had baggy 2 sets to 1 down and at 5all... baggy just turned on the emotion and the crowd responded... chatting to a local bloke, he said a year ago the stadium wouldve been full... but, due to his level and injuries.. it struggled to be half full... still... they were a vocal lot... and rightly so... baggy n kallias needed them cos ireland brought the battle to them...

good trip in all...

Sue, hope you stick to your "healthy" attempt to level off only the hedges with the clippers... and don't go any further... :p

Some update from me:

Last Tuesday the "he who is an asshole" ( HWIAA) decided to make his announcement about having a new job and then began to disparage me in front of the staff. I had already stood up and walked out right when he mentioned "the other doctor". He was taken aback that I would not listen to his tirade but so many staff members came up to me afterward asking if there was anything they could do. Suffice to say he put himself in an even worse light. One of his last remaining "champions" of sorts refused to discuss or talk to him about anything.

In the meantime I went to the bigwigs of the hospital as there had yet to be any intervention on their part. Appears the doc they wanted to inform about this continued to be at conferences etc etc. And legally they have no recourse. Although I still feel they can sit him down and tell him to shut up in more appropriate terms because he attacked the hospital as well.

Shortly after his little tirade, he came into my office- calling me a " backstabbing thief". Man some folks are so clueless; always someone else's fault. God forbid you should think the harassement, belittling patients and being complained about to the state board did not have a role in any decision;)

That said I decided that for the 18 years I have been at this place, since I have always put patients and staff as well as reputation of the hospital before myself I sent off an email to everyone in administration including my lawyer that although there were only 9 more days of overlap between myself and HWIAA that I would be taking as many of those days off as possible. That I would not subject myself to him. End of story.
You see that hurts the hospital $$$$ wise. They want me to do more while HWIAA winds his practice down.

Great stuff Suey, you don't need this crap. This hospital haven't taken action and this cockchimp really has more than a few issues, but yes you need some time off for sure.

I do need time off because before not to long I will be the only doc around for awhile;) That will be exhausting.

So what's up with you? I spent yesterday entertaining 2 old high school friends. Have a relatively painful sunburn on the face to show for it but we had a great time.

We were at a beach for a bit and I jokingly mentioned that I was the Jewish American Princess sitting between them ( they are both Jewish too) and one of them piped up stating yeah the princess between 2 Queens ;) Yes they are gay.

Being the only doctor until they find someone else who isn't a crazy fuck and knows what they are doing won't be easy.

I am not too bad, finally got around to converting this Swedish documentary about the golden years of tennis for them to avi and it's ready to burn to dvd. Thinking about Melbourne already, sad I know, but it happens.

Yes, the JAP in between the 2 queens hahaha, these guys weren't from Queens.

I already have two docs to interview;) Both women that I have spoken to on the phone already. One comes highly recommeded by another doc I was in the Navy with so I am looking forward to meeting her in person. None are available until July 2010 when they are out of residency so I hope I can wait that long. Hospital assures me ( oh yeah right  ) that they will hire a locums when I want/need a vacation.

I have not seen live tennis since Aug 2007. I miss it too actually although I do not miss the heat of the stands. Good work with the documentary:yeah:

I must say although I love those 2 guys to pieces ( we were in theatre stuff together in HS and one of them I grew up with; I consider him family) it was a bit strange watching them oogle cuties on the beach.

Suey, I didn't do the documentary. I might have to find out how much it costs to get subtitled, because it's very well done.

Only problem is too much focus on Wilander and Edberg, I mean they should get most of it, but not to the point, where a few of them would be like to be called cameos.

Ah I see GW; I misunderstood. Anyone watching the Indy final? Ginipri is playing well; boy am I surprised. Poor Sam though 2 finals in a row and he seems destined to lose this one too. :(

You are right; the fall can't come soon enough :p Of course my reasons are totally different than yours. First time I have ever actually been looking forward to sept 11th;)

Make the most of your days off Sue. You deserve them. And I wish you a lot of courage because being the only doctor around certainly won't be easy at all.

Not too much looking forward to the fall. So much to do, so little time, as always...

subtitling is quite cheap, and in any case anyone can do it right now with some programs like Subtitle Workshop.

It has to make sense and I can't be bothered doing the subtitling.

If I want this subtitled, it's not going to be garbage as it doesn't deserve to have a poor job done.

On the other hand, if you shared a more exciting partnership with them, it would be easier to kick them out and move on in case something were severely damaged... feelings remain passionately intense and centered in material awareness then...

Not happening as the place is leased by the Student Union, so can't get rid of them until the end of the year.
