I remember him losing all 3 RR in TMC 07 and then win the whole thing in 08. Do the same this time, okay?
Maybe he'll never defend a title but win them in odd years or even years, hahaha!

Federer's half, Simon second highest seed in quarter. Tsonga near Simon. Qualifier/Kohli first round. Not bad. I'm mainly glad no Roddick.

I hope he's really okay....people in the General Messages thread think that Nole's 2nd and 3rd rounds are tough......how good is this Kohlschreiber?

Lee
03-23-2009, 08:33 PM
My prediction for the first 3 rounds, Kohlscreiber, Baggy, Chardy :p unless a very unexpected qualifier replaces Kohl. Then probably Tsonga or Soderling. How about Nole sees himself as underdog going into every match? :p

Simon's draw sucks and I doubt he can get thru Hewitt.

Kohlscheiber is a little guy who's a big fighter. He can be hard to put away. In the 3rd round, it'll be Mathieu, Gulbis, or Baggy-any of those guys can be problematic. 4th round based on seeding would be Blake, but he's been playing so badly lately who knows if he'll make it. The other seed is Berdych, who can also be hard to beat if caught in the right mindset. The quarter finalist seeds would be Simon or Tsonga. Neither is easy. Nole has a good record against Simon, but the wins have been hard fought. And we know the story on Tsonga. I was just so relieved not to have to see him face Roddick again, it didn't hit me right away that now we're probably going to see him face Tsonga again. Not the greatest draw, especially given how Nole is playing recently. Just have to hope for the best!

Lee
03-23-2009, 08:38 PM
Kohlscreiber... *sigh* I had my eyes on him when he first made the tour. Good potential and I thought he could make top 20 but..... If he stays in form, I think he can stay in top 50 constantly. But he's not as big as a disappointment like his fellow German Florian Mayer. :tape:

Nole should be able to beat those players and make the quarters. Each of them, and Gulbis if he can win a couple rounds, will be tough. Simon does have a hard draw, especially given how he played in IW. I'd be surprised if he made to the 4th round. Tsonga should make the quarters.

Nope - can't agree there. he's 1-4 against the SB who's his contemporary. Roddick is 5 years his senior so is less of long term threat (and at least I like him:nerner:)

Hell - there's scarcely a player in the top 50 I'd be confident of his beating after Friday's abject display. So one could argue that it doesn't really matter who he meets. Kohli, Tomas, Ernie, Marcos - all would beat him on Friday's form. But he might surprise us so let's live in hope:lol:

hehe, I am more optimistic than you. Gulbis still has to pass more than 2 rounds in any tournaments this year. :tape: Baggy, other than his match vs Nole in AO, not really spectacular. PHM, other than Brisbane, also hasn't passed more than 2 rounds in any tournaments.

For Berdych, he was pound by Soderling in Sunrise. Soderling himself was utterly terrible in IW but he may finally back to his rhythm.

I am optimistic about Miami, actually. I'm always optimistic before the tournament starts and then before each match. I'm just . Nole should make the quarters, but with his recent form, who knows? Way to defensive lately, too many UEs, serve not what it was, horrible body language. And it always seems like players up their levels when the play Nole. Kohli and Mathieu don't really worry me too much as Nole should be able to grind out the wins if needed. I just worry this will be the time that Baggy, Gulbis, Berdych, etc will actually have it together. I also hate Tsonga in the top of the quarter more and more. Now, that all sounded pretty negative I know, but I am hopeful he'll do well. I swear. :)

Indeed, at the moment all depends on him not his opponents. :drink:

Anyway I couldn't complain about the draw that much.
Expect some tricky matches in early round and potential QF with Tsonga could bother him though.

Good luck and love you, Nole.  :smooch:

Probably Nole will lose his #3 ranking after Miami if Nalbandian doesn't trouble Murray and Tsonga keeps troubling Nole. Never mind that, new ranking for new clay court season. Some change may reignite him. Starting from his slump last Oct/Nov, my sixth sense already told me that Nole will truly rebound in 2009 summer. I trust my sixth sense :rocker2:

Okay, so I think Nole should just try and let loose and have fun because really, what's the point in going on court if you are not happy and enjoying yourself? He would be doing himself and his fans no favours. He needs to adapt Rafa's mentality of just accepting things as they are and not getting frustrated.

Also, regarding the rankings - if Nole loses before the 4th round and Murray wins the tournament, Murray will be the new #3. But I almost think a drop in the rankings is what he needs to reignite him.

Also, hate that Tsonga is in Nole's quarter. But then again, like it was said previously, every draw is a bad draw right now.

Yah...he's able to consolidate the break he's leading even though he did face break points himself. But against PHM he may have to do more. Still his service games when he's up a break can be improved.

The distribution of stadiums and time seems completely strange to me.
Yes, I can understand why the Americans and Federer are on Center Court. But why put Pennetta vs Mauresmo in Center Court while Safina, Dementieva and even Ana Ivanovic are thrown to the outside courts? The only WTA match in Grandstand is the Kuzzy vs Vaidisova one, strange.
I hope Nole will be okay with the new court.

Bet JP loves those 17 minutes  Must admit I haven't at all - not sure if I've ever really lost my temper cimpletely in my life to be honest :o I get upset yes, -disillusioned/unhappy/depressed/pi**ed off/irritated/impatiient but never really  I'm told I didn't even have tantrums as a child :o Alex is like you -he has a very hot temper, which he has also learnt to curb a lot with the years - but he doesn't really :explode: with me because I just don't react, so he just goes for a drive or to the gym instead :o

Enjoy your stew :)

I recognize myself in you, Herdwick :haha: Although I must say that it was worse when I was about 14-18 years old, but sometimes I still feel the need to break something :tape: I really think football caused this hot temper of mine

I barely drink alcohol so I'm not an expert, but I had the experience a couple of years ago that you're mostly hungry the evening after :drink: So I hope you can enjoy your stew ;)

Right - am back. Beef carbonnade simmering gently in oven and quantities of roast potatoes ready to cook too.

Feel somewhat better now. Getting Sky back too so they'd damn well better show Nole tonight or there will be exploding Herdwicks again:explode:

Well you two would probably both :explode: now, because I registered with this stupid Serbian Open site months ago to buy tickets in their pre-sale. But today everyone else has got ther email and bought their tickets - but I haven't received mine and can't get in  All I can see is the number available dwindling but I can't enter the site. But I don't get  I just :tears:

 Yeah - I was just reading the thread. Looks like there's a few teething troubles - good luck.

Got Sky back and just catching the end of yesterday's highlights - Rafa does not suit yellow and green. You did say they have multiple courts didn't you?

Just the two - Centre and Grandstand - they had loads of teething problems yesterday though - the streams died at least 4 times during the course of play

As for the Serbia Open  Well I've just managed to buy tickets for the first Monday - even though I didn't receive any email and didn't have to go through pre-sale to do it  Trouble is, they charge so much to send them to the UK, i elected to collect them on site, - only to find their "onsite" is the complete other end of town from the venue  I think I'm going to have to get Alex to ring them up tomorrow, beause they're not open today, and I don't really understand it at all.

Nadal in yellow and green - that means only one thing to me http://img2.menstennisforums.com/753/smileys38.gif and http://cellar.org/images/smilies/yack.gif

Where are the easterners? :p I am on the west coast and it's 8:30 in the morning

I don't get it why they put Andy first on court. May be the weather forecast rain and they want him finish first. There's no TV coverage for him.

Sky currently giving us a tour of Crandon Park including inside Rafa's locker! Looks great - I want to go next year! Cue Streetview again...

Yes - the forecast is evidently bad for today. But serves Roddick right if he wanted an early start and then loses :spit: Davai my little Russian darling :hearts:

During the rain delay, live stream showed Layhani and Mourier laughing on court and check if the court was dry enough to resume play.

Yes. And he's complaining big time about it. Going to be a long match for the ump I think.

The scheduling for today was bizare IMO. Generally, first match on center is a kind of sleeper match, like not many feel necessary to watch. It's very odd that Roddick is that match. Unless FSN wanted Roger and the Williams sisters.

Yesterday they only had like the current and next matches on the schedule, not the whole day. Hopefully that's the case today since I see Roddick then Fed-Kiefer, Robredo-Dent. And there are a couple of matches after Robredo before Nole's match. Besides, the Robredo feed should be good for the whole day on the grandstand. That's how it was yesterday anyway.

From their practices I watched in Indian Wells, they were really frustrated with their form and worked very hard but the results are not coming. One practice, tension was really high and Nestor tried to joke a bit and ease the tension but Nenad just stayed really grumpy. :(

I think Nestor's wife is pregnant and may be Nenad is not so happy to be away from his baby daughter. I really don't know *sigh*

Granted, it's tough as the whole month of March, they can play only 2 matches and lost both.
