1st round qualifier, 2nd Tursunov, 3rd Roddick

That's a good draw for an unseeded player like Haas. 3rd round seems doable and then most likely a new clash with Andy R. But step by step. Go Tommy!!

Well it's a good draw ;)
Better than Kohlschreiber's anyway :D

It's ok, not unlike Indian Wells. Sure, you never know what you get with Tursunov, and Tommy can beat Andy any time; and then the quarter would be open, but I guess that's heading too far ... ;)

I'm too tired too look myself, any word on the TV / live stream coverage for Miami? Will it again start later into the tourney? thx ...

What's happening right now is just plain ridiculous, this kid hasn't played a single pro tour level match this year, and it's just his tenth overall. What's going on there can only be Tommy's own doing ... but I'm sure he will kick in eventually.

I didn't want to compare Djoko and Kukush.
Just wanted to mention that Tommy's been playing bad for a while
(and this isn't enough anymore because Tommy isn't the player he once was)

I was talking about the first set against Djoko and that WAS a poor performance. But if you think beating Hernandez and Schuettler on hard with huge problems is a good performance then I don't think you've ever seen Tommy playing good tennis

Well, we can assume that the first round went alright, and coming back the way he did against Schüttler certainly takes something. Sure, nothing like the good old days (yet), but whatever quality was on display in the days of IW ... something similar should do to wipe a Kukushkin off the court. In case I don't do this kid justice I apologize, bit his results say a lot.

Well, he has no chance to play ATP tournaments with his ranking, has he? Maybe some MM tournaments but nothing that could improve his ranking as fast as he needs to improve it.

Word from Tommy, via Eurosport (http://de.eurosport.yahoo.com/26032009/73/masters-miami-deutsches-duo-miami-blamiert.html): to sum it up, Tommy's pretty frustrated after playing complete bull. He says he didn't really have much confidence in his shots. Also he thinks that he needs a coach that can push him, bring him to where wants to be mentally, maybe someone who's been a player himself. And he also wants his own physio. Furthermore, he's not really keen on playing on clay, but wants to play two or three tournaments. The article also states that he's healthy and has the will, but I don't know if that came from Tommy ...

TommyB.
03-26-2009, 07:34 PM
Sounds really desperate but he's physical healthy at least. Let's hope that he finds a coach. I think Tommy needs someone who can push him....full time and not only for one or two tournaments.

Lugburz
03-26-2009, 09:27 PM
two or three tournaments sounds ok..And if Masters aren't included that would be great...
Well,I hope he will find suitable coach and starts kicking some asses..The important thing is that he is healthy, otherwise we would have problems,,I am still hoping for the best..

Boy did I pick the WRONG thread title
Actually I think Tommy has pushed his body too much and it is finally saying NO MORE. And it would be hard to find a coach that could push Tommy mentally because Tommy would just go off more mentally than he does now--I would think  I sure hope I'm wrong, but I think Tommy's playing days are coming to an end before much longer :tears:

at least he has nearly no points to defend during the clay season. Every point he will earn will help to improve his ranking. And after the clay season he can be sure to get a wildcard for Halle. Direct entry for Roland Garros and Wimbledon should be possible since he is still 75 points away from dropping out of Top 100. Next thing to worry about is Wimbledon I guess. He has 150 points to defend there...
I wish he wouldn't have played the Australian Open but waited for the protected ranking...

thefly
03-27-2009, 03:23 PM
Yeah, I'm confident that he will gain some points on clay; to defend Wimbledon will be the next major task. But I'm sure even in a worst-case scenario he would be offered WC's for most part of the USO series. We'll see. Maybe going into one or another clay tounament with a "nothing to lose" mentality will yield some surprising results ...
