Does Djokovic have another slam in him?

He's still very young, and despite his hate around here from what I've seen, I think he'll win one more.

I don't want it to happen, certainly.

But he has the weapons and has shown what he can do when in full form. However, don't expect him to shine for more than a few months in a row, so I doubt he will ever reach #1

It's amazing this guy, he has never, ever, defended a title! Must be a record, or something.

Would you check his title record first? He didn't even participated in half of tournaments he won year before becouse they were MM events.Amersfoort, Metz, Estoril, Adelaide...he didn't even played those year after he won them, it was early in his career and he was focusing on playing less meaningless tournaments after. He didn't defend his titles in some important tournaments, yeah, but calling it "amazing" or "must be a record" for a 21 yr old and doing it over and over again is just silly...

He's got a shot for sure. Whether he wants it badly enough or not is the question.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he did, but I wouldn't call it anything near a certainty either. Mentally and physically he's patchy, as someone else said, it's hard to see him "dominating" for more than a couple of months at a time (like he did at the start of 08) so he has to hope that stretch of form corresponds with a HC Slam. He does seem really down on himself at the moment though, I wonder if the pressure of trying to break down the Fedal ceiling in the rankings and failing has finally gotten to him

It's interesting how quickly after his 1st slam (13 months) that this poll was posted, and how many people at that time voted 'No'.
Now, the question is how many more will he win?

I am going to go out on a limb and claim that Novak won't win more than 3 slams by the time he is done.

I noticed that too. He had just won the Masters Cup as well. :tape: (Granted he "only" had to beat Davydenko for the title.)

Djokovic had been gradually crumbling/playing worse since his peak tennis in January-June 2008 until last summer, but it was always too soon to totally count him off. He was too young to say "never."

And the guy who spouted this -- right after AO'11-- still has the gall to masquerade as some brightest bulb in the board..Gotta bust out of your own obtuseness, first, before turning to the sheeples around you, kiddo....

Funny thread. However, Djokovic was struggling a lot in 2009/10 so it's not that surprising that many people here, his fans included, weren't so convinced that Nole would be a multiple GS winner.

He's still very young, and despite his hate around here from what I've seen, I think he'll win one more.He should go double figures, he has great talent. And this is coming from a major Nadal fan. I don't hate Djokovic. To hate a particular player because you favour another is very silly and smacks of immaturity. We are very fortunate to be in an era where history is being made by the month.

We've seen Federer win an amazing 17 slams. Nadal win an incredible 9 French Opens. Djokovic play arguably the greatest season in open era tennis. Murray do the seemingly impossible and not just win the U.S open and Olympic gold. But end a 77 year wait for a home winner of Wimbledon. These are truly special times.

The coming generations have much to live up to. But no question. Djokovic should win at least 10 slams by the time he is done.

TennisFanatic7

Djokovic should be destined for double figures now. He should have dispelled his grand slam final demons now with the Wimbledon title and there's no denying he's currently the best player on tour if those problems are, indeed, solved.

Federer is doing a great job of fighting off the inevitable decline but he's not the player he was. Murray and Nadal (apart from at Roland Garros) have both been a long way from their best this year. Those two probably will come back before too long, but Novak has a great chance right now to go on a real rampage and reassert himself as the world's current dominant player.

People who really knew him since his break through and early days, knew that he was meant to be a champion.

Fashion fanboys and band wagoners are the ones you are looking for when you look for the people who weren't convinced. They should've been eversince his Monte Carlo match vs Fed.

Btw, stupidity is high in this thread. Way too many "clever" people showing their true IQ.

Djokovic was always going to win more slams. Federer was not going to stop him at HC forever and he was always very good at the AO. Not sure why people need to gloat about such a thread.

Destined to finish alltime top 5. But there's another incredible player out there called Nadal. With Federer unlikely to win another slam. For the next three or four years they will get their chances to add to their haul.

I've made my predictions, lets see how it pans out

DJOKOVIC 10--12 slams by careers end.

NADAL 16--18 slams by careers end.

Novak Djokovic walks into a bar.

The bar tender ask the Serb "What will it be today?"

Novak smiles.

He leans over the counter and gestures the bar tender comes closer.

Nole points across the room.

"I'll have what he's having".

On the other side of the bar there is a healthy Nadal.

Rafa raises his glass of hydrated fluids and whispers in broken English "Vamos".

The two enjoy a six-hour best-of-five drink-fest while they consume their liquids over the red bar wood.
