First time ever, for men.

I thought the media had made that blatantly obvious

Lleyton is back up to 78 this week so it was a short-lived glitch ;)

i think it was "glitch" we had to have. Give the reality of the depth of of tennis to the Aus public. TA knew this was bound to happen a long time a goan they are doing an okay job in resurrecting Aus. tennis.

Probably right. While Lleyton was healthy and in good form both the overall Aussie rankings and the Davis Cup team looked healthier to the undedicated tennis fan than they probably were. It's a bit of a worry that whether there's an Aussie in the top 100 currently basically depends on one player (or more precisely, one 20-something hip!), but there are a handful of young Aussie lads who have a good chance of being up there in a few years' time.

After last week I really don't think people should be writing Lleyton off quite yet either. Just a pity the press was all about him losing to Andy Roddick (in a great match for both of them) rather than about him hitting form and rising 25 places or so in a week

With Tomic and Klein, amongst others, coming through, we will have 4 or 5 in the top 100 by the end of 2010 IMO

I highly doubt 4 or 5.

Hewitt should be top 100 :S and if Luczak and Guccione can stay healthy that could make 2-3 in the top 100, and with the way Klein and Tomic are progressing, there is every chance that there could be 4 or more. I think Australian Tennis is on the rise now.

I highly doubt 4 or 5.

I think Hewitt will be around for a while still. He will be 29 by the end of next year. He can still have a few more competitive years if he wants to keep going. Injury free, he will still be top 50.

If Guccione got it together he would be a permanent fixture in the top 100. Hopefully McNamara can improve his fitness and his groundstrokes.

Klein mighn't quite be in the top 100, but he will certainly be top 150 and knocking on the door of the top 100.

Tomic will be at least top 150 by the end of next year, too.

So yeah, perhaps a bit optimistic, but I think there is a chance we will have 4, at the least we will have 2
