Thanx, esther! :worship:

Woohoo good luck, Kei! :yeah:
Muller will be a tough first round opponent, with big lefty serve (apparently Kei is not very fond of playing a lefty), but Kei has a good enough game to beat him!
Hope he will advance to the next ronud and have a revenge on JM! :D

Looks like Kei's match will be in the night session on Monday. :)

 I looked around but haven't been able to find working live streams so I just bought a day pass.

And guys, the price of the official site streaming I quoted above ($9.95) is for a day pass. You have to pay $39.95 :( for the whole week!

Wish i could avail of that day pass, unfortunately i can't.

Anyway, will just rely on your live update bunny! I am excited for the match.

Good luck Kei!

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 05:38 AM
I'll try, Rafkei!

Muller serving first. And Kei breaks after deuce!!
His FH down the line with a little off pace and timing at deuce was superb.
And he took the game with a FH winner. :D

Kei needs as many points here as he can because his points from Delray Beach will drop off next week...!

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 05:42 AM
Kei starts the next game with a DF and gets broken back as his FH goes out just long...
1-1

Muller has now less butterflies and leads 2-1*

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 05:45 AM
Much better service game from Kei. He holds to love. 2-2 :)
FH winner, a service winner, a volley winner and Muller service return wide. :)

Rafkei
02-10-2009, 05:52 AM
Guess both players are a bit nervous, dropping both their first service game.

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 05:54 AM
3-3
Kei's 1st serve % is getting better but he can do with even better %.

Muller then holds to 15. Not much happening now...

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 06:08 AM
5-5 Phew! That was scary!
At 15-15, Kei DF'ed, and then netted a FH to give Muller 2 SPs.
He saved both with Muller UE and an ace and went on to hold.

In the next game, Muller went 15-40 down with UEs.
Kei's lob was long on the first BP but he took the second with a BH CC passing shot! :yeah:

Kei serving for the match... *6-5!
Hope he gets first serves in...

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 06:10 AM
0-15 mishits return
15-15 service winner
30-15 good serve!
40-15 good serve out wide on deuce court!

1st set to Kei with BH winner! :D 7-5

Rafkei
02-10-2009, 06:16 AM
Kei won the first set 7-5?

Is it right? I am only viewing thru live scores.

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 06:19 AM
Muller holds the first game of the second set to 30.
He made some silly errors but also had good serves.
It looke like Kei has no problem reading Mullers's serve though.

Then Kei holds to 15.
The last two points were a nice rally ending with a smash by Kei. :)

1-1

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 06:20 AM
Exquisite BH volley by Kei. 0-15
0-40 for Muller with a string of erorrs.
Break Kei!

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 06:21 AM
DF and Kei is a break up. :) *2-1

Rafkei
02-10-2009, 06:23 AM
that was so scary, he faced two break points at 4-5 right bunny? I relieved he was able to hold on. Great Job.

Then breaking back and holding serve to seal the first set! Nice one Kei!

Nice update Bunny!

I think were also the two posters who were here last time when Kei is playing against Meltzer in Australia, i hope it'll be a different result this time around.

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 06:24 AM
Now he's n a roll. :)

15-0 Second sevice ace
30-0 FH winner
40-0 Service return long
Game, another good serve. 3-1*

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 06:37 AM
Sorry I lost connection for a while.

Kei 4-2, Muller serving under the pressure and he gets broken!
Kei serving for the match 5-2! :D

And 30-30...

*bunny*
02-10-2009, 06:38 AM
Kei won 7-5 6-2! :D :D :D
He didn't have to do much in the second set, just play solid, because Muller kind of self destructed.

Rafkei
02-10-2009, 06:40 AM

Is it "Kai" ("a" as vowel) or as "Kei" ("e" as the vowel, as in Kaye)

Good uck kei, just hope he can stay healthy...

when you play at this level there's really no easy draw anyway, and i like to see kei match up with player ranked higher then him.

*bunny*
02-15-2009, 12:54 PM
Apparently, Kei had a flu in San Jose, hence his not very spirited performance.

After losing to JMDP, Kei told the Japanese reporters that he couldn't have a winning image. He uses the word "image" a lot in his pressers. Probbaly he wants to say when he's feeling well it's easy to visualise himself in his mind that he will win the next match.
His ranking will go down to around #90 tomorrow because the points from Delray Beach will drop off, but he also said that this year he doesn't want to worry about the ranking. He will have to play qualies in some events but he doesn't have much to defend either so I think we don't have to wait too long before he starts climbing up the ranking again.

Kei vs Baggy should be a fun match if both of them turn up physically as well as mentally.
Hope he's feeling better and can play with more confidence in Memphis! :yippee:

Looks like there were lots of breaks of serve on both sides, but Kei seemed struggling with his service. Hope it's not the affect of the arm injury he had recently.
O well, Baggy is a very good player and he's desperate to return to top 100.

;) You didn't read my post on Kei's News Thread on Jan. 14! (No, no, I'm not blaming you! Everyone's busy and can't read all the posts!)
But I wish Kei defended his title in Delray Beach. I don't think Japan desperately need him to win this tie. Soeda and Suzuki should be able to handle China. But it's a rare occasion that he can play in Japan and perhaps he opted that.

So no tournament next week. He will probably come back to Japan soon.

No problem, esther!

According to the Japanese media, Kei's new mobile phone went off twice during important points in the first set and he got a warning from the umpire. Apparently this led to his loss of concentration, which was of course due to his own fault but unfortunate.
He also regretted that he made many errors. As for the arm, he said it's better but not 100% yet. Asked about the drop in the ranking, he said he didn't think he's a top 50 player yet, and he wanted to play more matches because he could learn a lot of things from actual matches.
But he's positive about the Davis Cup, he said since his arm is getting better he wants to serve better and put some pressure on the opponent with his serve.

But who the hell called him during a match!? :(

its a tough choice between the two, but there's still a whole year ahead to gather more points.
It will be his second DC tie. His played the first round tie agaist India last April.
But it will be his debut in a home tie. Hope it will be a good tie and boost his confidence! :)

Someone called him during the match? News to me!
Maybe his rumoured girlfriend (a Japanese table tennis player)?
I doubt it. She's been an established player much longer than Kei. In any case they haven't confirmed they are an item. She's refusing to speak about her private life, which she's fully entitled to, and there's been no word from Kei either.

Hope Kei can rebound in his rankings soon!

Thanx, esther! :yeah:

As you guys probably remember Kei played Ljubicic in Beijing in 2007, when he was still an amater ranked 257 and Ljubo was a top 20 player. Kei lost 6-3 6-4.
Now Ljubicic is ranked 79 and his record this year is 2-5, so Kei definitely has a chance if he's fit.
...but I don't think tendonitis goes away that easily and I just hope Kei won't aggravate the injury by playing through pain. Hope he's feeling much better with his arm...!

Kei's first round match is scheduled as the second match in the night session on Thursday, after Mattek vs Garbin that starts 7 p.m. local time.
Good luck, Kei! :yeah:

Kei lost 6-3 6-3.

I only watched livescore on and off from 1-4 down in the first set. The second set was closer, there were four breaks of serve altogether. But all of Kei's four DFs occurred early in the set, which resulted in two breaks although Kei broke Ljubicic's serve in between those two games.

I hope this loss is a blessing in disguise because now he can rest for at least two weeks before Miami.
Resting is the only cure for tendonitis.
Good luck to Kei in Miami! :yeah:

any news why kei doesnt play miami?

 Really!? Where did you hear that, esther?
AFAIK, his name is still on the entry list.

He did pull out from the Sunrise challenger this week, but he was #12 on the alternate list so he had little chance to play there anyway unless he was prepared to play qualies.

Of course, if he's still having the injury then he shouldn't play. Miami is like his home tournament in U.S., and the ATP Awards will be announced during the tournament so I'm sure he wants to be there. But I hope he and his team will make a sensible decision even if he is playing, because it seems to me he played in many tournaments when he really shouldn't have.

Hmmm this is the Miami entry thread and the list hasn't been changed for the past four days, it's the same with other sites with similar information.
http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?p=8141991

But if he has to withdraw, so be it. He played one too many tournaments while still injured and I have a feeling he better take rest and recover 100% by the clay court season. (I also wished he didn't enter a useless tournament like Houston and try qualifying European clay tournaments because he's said he likes clay and wants to do well in RG, but that's another story.)

Kei won't play Miami and he's out yet for a month or two (because of his arm) I am talking to his coach now.

Thanx for the information, Nathalia!
Yeah, I just realised his name is gone from the entry list.
Hope the next time he plays he will be completely injury free!

So esther, your source was correct!
Sorry if I sounded like I didn't believe what you said the other day! That's not what I meant!

It's a pity Kei won't play Miami and maybe more tournaments, but I hope he will take really good care of himself and concentrate on treating the injury. He's still so young a month or two away from tennis is no big deal in a long perspective. It's far more scary to continue playing with an injury.
