well done

was a break up in the first, got the job done eventually in the TB

was serving for the match at 5*-3 in the 2nd and a had a MP at 5-4*, saved a bp at 5*-5, converted his 4th MP to break for the match

Decoud has no weapons, so another terrible loss for the mug.

Solid, yes. And great footwork. But JMG is right in saying that he has no weapons.

What's the French connection with Decoud? His name is French and I've read that he speaks French fluently, but he was born in Argentina.

There are many people of French descent in Argentina, it's not unusual.

OK, but from the fact that he speaks French well I thought the connection with France is still alive within his family, and they may not have lived in Argentina for a long time, as opposed to coming to Argentina a long time ago and being assimilated.

Playing money tournaments in France, basing himself there, which is a lot easier for him travel and also having a French passport.

I don't know Decoud's family personally, but Nalbandian speaks Italian and has an Italian mother, so it's not that unusual, depending on how far back they migrated to Argentina.

Decoud pulls out the odd good result in these events.

This shows that sadly Massú is finished.

Thanks to Massú the Spadea's losing record is safe, if not Calleri would be able to break it. :o

I spoke with Decoud some years ago in a future tournament and he told me how hard are things when you are ranked below 300. So congratulations for reaching the QF in Santiago! In this way he will not lose many positions on his ranking as with this result he compensates the points achieved on Costa do Sauipe last year.

That might be hard for Calleri to lose with players that were a piece of cake some years ago. The same that is happening with Cañas or Hewitt. Time goes by...
