I am not saying Laver, could not have won all of them, but just that when he got the slam, it was only 2 surfaces. Andre, got the slam on 4. Today it's really only 3, but rebound ace was different from the decoturf in New York.

Rebound Ace & the Aussie January heat suited Agassi`s game perfectly<> surely he regrets not playing AO in the early years [88--94], he could have won 7 or 8 AO titles if he had been commited from the outset:eek:

Agassi and Nadal are the only two who've won 3 different slams on 3different surfaces.

Agassi won a 4th different slam.

Nadal holds his 3 titles simultaneously.

There's a BIG difference between Agassi and Laver. Andre NEVER got the grand slam. He only won each of the four slams in different years. Laver won the actual grand slam TWICE and he won the pro GS once.

Did Jimmy win the USO on grass? I didn't remember that. He won the USO on green clay instead of red.

From Wiki :

Although Connors never won the French Open, his victory at the 1976 US Open came during the brief period (1975 through 1977) when that tournament was held on clay courts. Connors is, therefore, one of only four men (Mats Wilander, Andre Agassi and Rafael Nadal are the others) to have won a Grand Slam singles title on grass courts, hard courts, and clay courts.

Connors also won the U.S. Open singles championship itself on on grass courts, hard courts, and clay courts, the only man to accomplish that trio of wins.

So the only men to win RG + Wimbledon are Laver, Borg, Agassi and now Nadal.

In the same year, Laver, Borg and Nadal.

With Roger & Rafa we're living times of legendary tennis that will be remembered for decades.

yes, Agassi`s "Career (Golden) Slam"~ is very impressive:worship:
Andre managed to win every significant title possible during his long careers>> except maybe Monte Carlo!

*of course Rod Laver never had the opportunity to win an Olympic medal because tennis wasn`t part of the Olympics during his era!

*Nadal can match Agassi`s "Career (Golden) Slam" if he wins the USO>> 4 down 1 to go [won AO, FO, Wimby, Olympics]

Hi Mimi!

yes, in terms of trophies, Agassi is the leader, followed by Federer then Nadal.

but I was referring to the tournaments won out of the 9 Masters.
I think Agassi is missing Monte Carlo and something else, Nadal I know Miami for sure, and also another event.

So perhaps our MTF chart experts can help enlighten?

I had the impression after Nadal winning Hamburg last year that he was one up against Federer.
Nadal was surely unlucky for Miami, I thought he'd add that for sure, with Davydenko being the opponent in last year's final...but what do I know!?!?

I hope Nadal will win Miami(maybe this year?) Paris and Cincy a bit tougher.
As for Federer, if fit Nadal is around, he will find it tough to add MC (heard he's not playing there this year) and Rome.

Actually, Federer is a three time MC finalist :p I think Federer has a great chance at adding Paris still, and Rafa could potentially win all of the other three (he should have at least one Miami by now ) + the new Shanghai one, though Cincinatti will be tough as it's super fast.
