Who do you think is/has been one of the best coaches in the open era?

My pick is: Larry Stefanki

Stefanki is quite an obvious choice.

I'll also give credit to Toni Nadal too.
We all know too well how things usually turn out (ie. NIGHTMARE) when parents/relatives try to put on the coach's hat.

Roger Federer...he's coached his player to six slams so far. Maybe seven in a few hours.

How is he awful? He lead the resurgence of Agassi's career... without Gilbert, who knows if Agassi would've ever gotten his head out of the sand.

He also lead Roddick to the #1 ranking and his one (and only) slam.

I can understand not liking the guy, but he is a damn good coach.

Anyway one of the first names that comes to mind in regards to this topic is Larry Stefanki.

Uncle Tony hasn't proven himself IMO. For all we know he may be lucky to have Nadal as his pupil. When he does something special with another player after he and Nadal are not working anymore, then I'd agree...

We have a coach thread already, the OP really needs to know that search function exists on this forum.

Then again MTF is meant to have functioning servers.
