How many points will Jo lose after it?

03-17-2009, 06:34 AM
Defeat : 7/5, 6/4. Shitty match. Shitty tournament. One more to go, before some real tennis again.

03-17-2009, 06:35 AM
Nothing worth : 45 points, a third or fourth round appearance.

03-17-2009, 06:37 AM
He just needs to pass two rounds at miami to take it back.

03-17-2009, 06:46 AM
He lost in third round in Miami last year if my memory doesn't fail...

03-17-2009, 06:54 AM
If I'm correct, I think he lost 105 points. He achieved R32, down from R16 last year, and has earned 45 points compared to 150 points of last year (this points system confuses me). (Edited due to errors :tape: )

Anyway, shame he lost a match he should have won. :smash: Pity he underperformed today. Like MacArthur said, he’d better redeem himself in Miami – or else :armed: He made it to R32 (3rd round) last year, so he's got a great chance to do much better this time.

Still love you, Jo!

03-17-2009, 06:55 AM
Defeat : 7/5, 6/4. Shitty match. Shitty tournament. One more to go, before some real tennis again.

actually I don't know what happened, after 2-0 in the 1st set,Jo forgot how to play.but it doesn't matter,look forward.Allez in Miami

03-17-2009, 07:10 AM
By the way, irrespective of how badly he does in the States, he has a mountain of points to earn throughout the clay season all the way to US Open. Hence, the only way he can go is up. The most important thing is to stay healthy and strong and I will forgive him the occasional brain cramps.

03-17-2009, 08:09 AM
The only thing I hope - no more injuries. God please - no more!

03-17-2009, 08:35 AM
I didn't get to watch the match, but from what I read here, it seems like Jo played rather lousy tennis. All my other french boys lost, too; with the exception of Chardy. Hopefully Jo will do much better in Miami. I can't wait for clay season. Please start a new thread for clay season for a fresh start ;)

03-17-2009, 09:53 AM
I think I will wait a week or two before making the clay season thread because we still lack his program except for Barcelona.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-17-2009, 10:00 AM
It was a true French massacre yesterday and now all the 4 musketeers are out, which is a huge shame. Let's hope Miami brings better things for all of them, especially Jo

03-17-2009, 10:13 AM
:yeah: Good idea
I think I will wait a week or two before making the clay season thread because we still lack his program except for Barcelona.

03-17-2009, 10:18 AM
French massacre indeed. :o

Sounds like a bad day at the office from Jo. :awww:

03-17-2009, 10:34 AM
I read that Jo was sick and was coughing a lot, having trouble breathing  anyone saw the match and could second that ?

03-17-2009, 10:37 AM
It's possible, I guess. Because he was clearly not in his best form from what I could see. But that's the kind of things that you can only be sure by a press conference or something.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-17-2009, 10:38 AM
I tried to stay up Marion, but I couldn't so I don't really know to be honest. I hope it's nothing too serious if he was sick and he's back to full health in Miami

03-17-2009, 11:34 AM
OK, it's coming from Jo's mom and she said that he had some respiratory problem coming from an allergy. She also said he would be OK for Miami.

Have some rest and come back hard in Miami, Jo !

Eimear O'Mahony
03-17-2009, 11:48 AM
Oh poor Jo  Feel better soon Jowi

03-17-2009, 11:52 AM
Yeah that's what I read on wlt, did you read it there too ? I'm not sure if we can trust the people who comment over there though

03-17-2009, 12:06 PM
I read it on WLT too, but I think it's coming from his official site (frenchlocos website, not the other) where his mother is posting sometime. I don't feel the courage to go check it there, but I think it has a fair chance of being true.

03-17-2009, 12:09 PM
I've checked it finaly, it's :

Pas d'inquiétude! Jo a chopé un problème respiratoire de nature allergique, il est sous traitement, çà va passer en revenant sous le soleil de Miami!

It comes from Plume which is the pseudo of his mother in the comment of Indian wells in his fan site.

03-17-2009, 12:13 PM
Thank you :D I had no idea his mother posted on his fan site. That's good to know.

03-17-2009, 12:44 PM
I just saw the match on Sport+. Jo caughed in his towel at least once... Still, he didn't have to take solidarity with his fellows musketeers so far...
Come on now Jérémy, be the Vicomte de Bragelonne !

03-17-2009, 02:53 PM
yes, Jo is a part of the show of solidarity. The four of them (Gael, Jo, Richard, and Gilles) all played pretty poorly. Ok, Richie played ok considering Verdasco's unbelievable form.

03-17-2009, 03:36 PM
respiratory problem? yeah maybe,do you see he was sweating all the time during the match?...

03-17-2009, 04:56 PM
By the way, irrespective of how badly he does in the States, he has a mountain of points to earn throughout the clay season all the way to US Open. Hence, the only way he can go is up. The most important thing is to stay healthy and strong and I will forgive him the occasional brain cramps.

Exactly :yeah:
Better luck in Miami, Jo.

03-18-2009, 03:47 AM
I'm sad but relieved at the same time that there was a reason for his under-performance. I hope that he's feeling much better and that the Miami weather will do him good. All the best Jo

03-18-2009, 09:52 AM
I'm sad but relieved at the same time that there was a reason for his under-performance. I hope that he's feeling much better and that the Miami weather will do him good. All the best Jo  I feel the same. Looking forward to seeing you play again Jo.

03-23-2009, 07:58 PM

It's doable. We will see what are his dispositions this time.

03-24-2009, 04:44 AM
I'm afraid of Robin.....

03-24-2009, 06:44 AM
I have a good feeling about Jo's draw. Some of the players in his quarter are tricky, but Jo is a class above all of them, including Djokovic. Let's hope he has the chance to avenge his last defeat against Federer. Can't wait to see him in action.

03-24-2009, 08:11 AM
This time should be good for Jo, I really hope he meets Simon in the 4th round and then I don't care as long as the one winning goes to the semis!

03-24-2009, 09:14 AM
Jo's draw is a hell of a lot kinder than Gasquet's! I think Jo will do well here, best of luck Jo.:worship:

Eimear O'Mahony
03-24-2009, 10:21 AM
Yeah, I believe Jo has a good chance here. I'll be torn when he meets Simon but if they both get to the 4th Round they've both had a good run so I think I'll be happy with whoever gets through

Tess Gray
03-24-2009, 05:03 PM
Robin can be trickier than most people want to admit:help: (I hope he bagels Robin :ras:) A 4th round vs Gilles would be great :D Allez Jo :rocker2:

03-25-2009, 03:27 AM
Robin can be trickier than most people want to admit:help: (I hope he bagels Robin :ras:) A 4th round vs Gilles would be great :D Allez Jo :rocker2:

haha I like Robin:devil:
but I hope Jo could win the match:o

03-27-2009, 04:39 PM
With Soderling out he has a very kind draw to round 4, just hope he can take full advantage of it.

03-27-2009, 09:32 PM
Jo is on the court right now, against Calleri. Already, 3/1 for Jo.

I can't find any stream anywhere, someone luckier ?

03-27-2009, 09:42 PM
First set 6/1 for Jo. He seems on a roll :)

03-27-2009, 10:16 PM
Easy win, 6/1, 6/1 for Jo.

Good way to enter this tournament.

I smell revenge on that one :)

03-27-2009, 11:14 PM
The streams begins on Saturday unfortunately

Nice quick impressive win, Jo :D keep on the good work ! Who is next ?

I smell revenge on that one

Definitely  Miami in ze pocket ! not meaning to jinx him of course

03-28-2009, 07:42 PM
Well done Jo, he must have been on fire!

03-28-2009, 09:49 PM
Jo won his doubles match!
ok, not that surprising, but they knocked out a seed!

03-29-2009, 12:24 AM
That's a really good thing, DC-wise !

Tess Gray
03-29-2009, 11:29 AM
J Benneteau (FRA) / J Tsonga (FRA) d [3] M Bhupathi (IND) / M Knowles (BAH) 36 75 10-6

So it was a tight match:) It's impressive that they knocked out the third seeds... but on the other hand it shows how weak the double teams really are.

Jo is on the OOP for today. Hopefully I'll get to see him:D It's been a while for me!

03-29-2009, 11:56 PM
none breakpoint to kendrick !goooood job .simon next, allez

03-29-2009, 11:59 PM
Bravo Jo. :yeah:
Should be an interesting match against Gilles, looking forward to it.

03-30-2009, 12:07 AM
It was a poor match from Jo from what I saw, but a win is a win.

May the best french player on the day win for his match against Simon !

I also saw him coughing during the long interruption, maybe the allergy from Indian Wells isn't totaly gone.

03-30-2009, 05:21 AM
I also saw him coughing during the long interruption, maybe the allergy from Indian Wells isn't totaly gone.

Yes, I noticed it too and I really disliked it.:( Jo's play was pretty passive, but it works with players like Kendrick.
Of course Kendrick was good (sometime very good) but he made these stupid mistakes on important points. He looked like junior, not vet.

Does anybody know what happened to this person on stands? Seems it was very serious.

03-30-2009, 10:15 AM
yes jo has to step it up cause it wasnt good match against kendrik but even like that he s able to win in 2.

I like both gilles and jo.Hope the best wil reach the quarter finale:)

Tess Gray
03-30-2009, 01:05 PM
I know most of you here are both Jo & Gillou fans, but I sure as hell ain't and I want Jo to win:armed: So, allez mon cher :bigclap:

Eimear O'Mahony
03-30-2009, 01:41 PM
It's okay Tess. I still love you :p

Tess Gray
03-30-2009, 01:51 PM
Aww that's nice to know :p

COURT 1 start 11:00am
[LL] B Phau (GER) vs V Troicki (SRB) - ATP
A Groenefeld (GER) / P Schnyder (SUI) vs [WC] P Martic (CRO) / C Vandeweghe (USA) - WTA
Not Before 2:00 PM
R de Voest (RSA) / B Reynolds (USA) vs J Benneteau (FRA) / J Tsonga (FRA) - ATP
[26] I Benesova (CZE) vs [19] A Medina Garrigues (ESP) or [16] D Cibulkova (SVK) - WTA
J Knowle (AUT) / J Melzer (AUT) vs N Almagro (ESP) / D Ferrer (ESP) - ATP
[4] S Stosur (AUS) / R Stubbs (AUS) vs A Pavlyuchenkova (RUS) / E Vesnina (RUS) - WTA

03-31-2009, 11:39 AM
Jo and Julien Benneteau are in the doubles quarter-finals after knocking out de Voest/Reynolds. Pretty impressive.

Also his first 4th round (singles) appearance in Miami. Playing against Gilles Simon is not going to be easy, not least because they are countrymen and of course, Simon is a tough counter-puncher. I hope Jo makes it through. I would love for him to have another show-down with Federer, but first he has to go past Simon and potentially Djokovic. Good luck!

Regarding the long delay in his match against Kendrick, it is reported that "paramedics tended to a female spectator who had a seizure and fell in the stands. She was treated and transported from the stadium."

03-31-2009, 04:54 PM
This is another scrappy battle, like their match in Hamburg, but Jo started playing better in the 2nd set. This match is still 50/50 right now though, could go either way.

03-31-2009, 04:58 PM
Jo breaks in the 3rd set! 2*-1.

03-31-2009, 05:23 PM
Jo really stepped it up in the end and came back well after a poor first set tiebreak
Into only his second Masters Series quarterfinal now, ready to face Djokovic again...

03-31-2009, 05:23 PM

03-31-2009, 05:25 PM
Congrats Jo :yeah: You know what to do next :D

Tess Gray
03-31-2009, 06:04 PM
Jo!!! Great job. I'm really looking forward to the match against Nole... should be a great one to watch!

03-31-2009, 06:39 PM
Oh really glad Jo won, sorry for Gilles though. Hate it when my faves have to play against each other.

03-31-2009, 07:06 PM
Yay! Jo won! I am so happy he made it to QF. AND he's facing Novak again. I hope he pigeons him.
I also made 1600 vcash with the vcash MacArthur generously donated to me to bet on Jo!

03-31-2009, 07:33 PM
Good thing Bashak :). I think you still have some vcash to make in this tournament, looking at his record against Nole.

I couldn't see the match for some reasons, but, looking at the stats, I guess it was the usual Jo of starting tournament : good serve and the rest pretty average till he steps up a little.

Interesting tournament now that he has made it all the way to the quarters.

For Gilles, I think their H2H promised to be really tight in the future.

03-31-2009, 07:51 PM
Yes, I think Jo can easily beat Nole but I haven't seen Nole play in a long time. I also didn't get to see how Jo was playing today. I watched him play against Kendrick for the first set and I wasn't impressed. He seemed a bit off. I was glad to find out he won that match eventually. I don't know if Djokovic is in form. He has made into the QF pretty swiftly judging by his scorelines, all straight sets if I am not mistaken. I really hope Jo repeats history and wins.

03-31-2009, 08:13 PM
The last two sets he played absolutely great, the first so-so, though I still expected him to take it, but he double-faulted to give away the breaker.

04-01-2009, 03:27 AM
Jo plays today against Djoko at 3 PM local time, 21H00 in France :

STADIUM start 11:00am
C Chuang (TPE) / S Mirza (IND) vs [2] A Medina Garrigues (ESP) / V Ruano Pascual (ESP) - WTA

Not Before 1:00 PM
[1] S Williams (USA) vs N Li (CHN) - WTA

Not Before 3:00 PM
[10] J Tsonga (FRA) vs [3] N Djokovic (SRB) - ATP

Not Before 7:00 PM
[26] I Benesova (CZE) vs [5] V Williams (USA) - WTA

Not Before 9:00 PM
[5] A Roddick (USA) vs [2] R Federer (SUI) - ATP

04-01-2009, 05:29 AM
I saw Novak's match against Berdych. Hmmm, Novak was good. It should be really tough match. Hope Jo will make it right.

04-01-2009, 09:52 AM
yes expecting another very tight match between both men. Djokovic already won that tournament right?
his game suits well to the surface.
Well tough but the fact jo beat him many times can have a real impact when things gonna be tight and tense.
Jo really looking forward to a semi finale there so you can be sure he'll do his best to do so.

Good match to him.

04-01-2009, 12:23 PM
Jo, good luck against Djokovic. Great job getting this far. One step further would be fantastic, you can do it!

Eimear O'Mahony
04-01-2009, 12:24 PM
Bonne chance contre Nole Jo. You can go on and win this tournament

04-01-2009, 07:42 PM
Match is on. Good luck Jo!
(nole's shoes == :unsure:)

04-01-2009, 08:28 PM
Match is on. Good luck Jo!
(nole's shoes == :unsure:)

I like his shoes actually, they match his outfit:D

jo just lost the 1st set, he's playing poorly:sad:, 44% of 1st serve and 20 UE's :help:

I'm not going to watch the end of the match so good luck Jo!!

Tess Gray
04-01-2009, 09:47 PM
Jo lost 6-3 6-4.

JoWi JoWi JoWi  What were you doing in that last game youngman
This truly was an awful match:o:o:o

04-01-2009, 09:48 PM
Jo lost. Poor serving 1st set. Too many UE and not enough winners. He improved in the second set. Nole was physically struggling at the end. One of Nole's service games lasted over 15 minutes in the second set. Jo had more than one chance to break during that game. He was somewhat off today.
oh well, this was still a very good run for Jo. He will gain a fair amount of points since he was out 3rd round last year. Fashion info: Both players wore the same adidas blue shirt and white shorts. Of course, Jo's must be 2 sizes larger.

04-01-2009, 10:13 PM
Disappointing match. But well still a good run after all. Just go get some rest and come back refreshed for clay season now Jo. Not expecting anything amazing from him there, but he should be able to do better than that one Casablanca semi he has to defend.

04-02-2009, 12:11 AM
I'm not very disappoint, quarter final, not bad.we look forward.good luck in clay season dear Jo

04-02-2009, 04:16 AM
I am disappointed, not because he lost but because of the way he handled those break points when Djokovic was clearly struggling. Whenever he had advantage point, he tried to be aggressive on the return and often overshot it - when keeping the ball in play would have forced Djokovic to move and make the next shot. In the AO 2008 final, towards the end of the 4th set, Djokovic was also struggling, but Jo allowed himself to be distracted and ended up making unforced errors. It was a bit like déjà vu all over again. No matter what the opponent is doing, or whatever outside factors come into play, it's important to stay in the moment and adjust your game plan accordingly.

Having said that, he's done a great job making it to the quarter finals. What was particularly impressive was that he was not broken serve once until this match. The low first serve percentage against Djokovic cost him dearly, and in the end, it's just one of those days when things don't always click. Well done overall this week.

Now, onward and upward to the clay season. Allez!

04-02-2009, 06:26 AM
Ahhh, it's pity... Am I disappointed? Mixed feelings, I can say. In one hand - this tournament was better then IW, 1/4 is not bad, solid playing vs Simon etc. In other hand - oh, come on, Jo, you could win this match against Nole, it was not causa mortis!!!

04-02-2009, 08:45 AM
very very bad match from jo. One of the worst I ever seen fom him. All his weapons were off(serve, forehand, volley)
disappointing cause he had many chances to get back in the second set with djokovic struggling.
Well I hope he ll be ok for clay.He never played much on it so just hope hell be ok.
Well a quarter finale is quite good for sure

Eimear O'Mahony
04-02-2009, 10:34 AM
Yeah I must admit to being very disappointed with Jo yesterday. Nole was there for the taking, he was on the ropes, and Jo just couldn't find the game to finish him off. But, these things happen unfortunately and its onwards and upwards to the next tournament. Monaco in 2 weeks I believe?

04-02-2009, 10:51 AM
Jo doesn't play Monaco...

Eimear O'Mahony
04-02-2009, 10:55 AM
Oh sorry ... Monte Carlo isn't it? Isn't that the first clay Masters Series? I didn't realise Jo wasn't playing it

04-02-2009, 11:17 AM
Look here:
