What was Federer thinking after the matchpoint?

What do you think Federer was thinking after the matchpoint? Apparently he was watching the match in his suite like most night matches.

He might be happy about this match was a marathon but on the other side he knows he has to play Nadal.

You're looking into this way too much.

He knows the final is his to lose whoever he faces and if he'd faced Verdasco people would have said he got lucky to avoid Nadal. Do you play tennis at all, Bilbo? Players enjoy the motivation of trying to beat someone who has gotten the better of them in the past.

That is so true. I was kind of thinking that Fed might be worried about the 6-12 record against Rafa and choke. But thinking again, if I were him, I'd love to have a chance to take down a player that beat me as well.

He was thinking about calling Agassi and get the phone number for his trainer. If he can make Verdasco this beast, he can certainly make Federer capable of not choking against Nadal.

LOL!! Actually I think this puts more pressure on Roger to win. Most will think he has the advantage because of Rafa's tough long match. If Rafa wins this final Roger will be devastated, and no longer will be thought of as the GOAT by most.

What do you think Federer was thinking after the matchpoint? Apparently he was watching the match in his suite like most night matches.

He might be happy about this match was a marathon but on the other side he knows he has to play Nadal.

First of all he was probably glad about the kind of match he was able to see. Roger is a fan of tennis in the first place as he has very often stated.

He said after his SF that he wanted to play against Nadal. These players have tremendous respect for each other as both know what the other has achieved during the last years. They have played in finals on grass and clay and people have waited a long time for a Slam final between them on hardcourts.

Nadal is Roger's biggest challenge. He lost a few really important matches to him, but that's part of the sports. You win matches, you lose matches.

Each match starts at 0:0, no matter how the last matches have went. Roger has lost the last matches against Rafa, but won the last ones they have played on HC.

Rafa surely put the usual pressure on Roger with the statement that Roger is the favourite for this match. It would have been easy for Rafa to mention the h2h and that he is the #1 now, on the other hand it is Rafa's first GS HC final, he played a long match yesterday - and Roger has won the AO three times.

Hmmm...a couple of these quotes resurfaced after the final today. We saw the devastation and commentators have echoed the first one, and Fed pretty much quoted the left handed thing at his press conference.
