Will the Australian Open 2009 consist of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the mens final?

Yes, and Rafa will win it.

Actually I'm more concerned about Tsonga then Nadal on this surface. Tsonga can serve lights out and in tiebreakers Fed is very shaky since 2008.

Yes I’ve totally overlooked Tsonga this tournament. Tsonga is playing as well as he did at last year’s AO (maybe even better) & Nadal is in a much improved form...it’s gonna be a close call! If Tsonga’s serve & stab volleys are on it will be very difficult for Nadal. Tsonga I think is a better volleyer than Fed.

Fed/Djokovic will be a great match too (assuming they get through) though I might favour Fed as Djokovic doesn’t seem as confident these days.

Fed shaky in tiebreaks since 2008? Not really. At least not in the big events, such as Wimbledon & the USO.

Fed usually steps it up a gear in tiebreaks, and hits more aggressive service returns.

No way, first Fed will lose to Delpo.
The final could be Nando vs Delpo.

If the final is Tsonga-Federer then i expect Tsonga to beat Federer this time.
He will want to take revenge from his bad loss against Federer last year(he wasn't anywhere close his best level) and above all,to take revenge from his loss in last year's AO final.
To me,Tsonga has already pretty much all the attributes required to win a GS on hardcourt: very big serve, big FH,great net play, exceptionnal mental strenght, enormous will to win.

I'm far from being sure of that.
I just don't see any improvement in Rafa's game comparing to last year's AO
Nadal just looks better than in last year's AO because he's had an even more easy draw than last year so far(Gonzalez could have given trouble but after his marathon match against Gasquet,it was never going to happen).

No way, please.

Let's have Federer-Nadal final (or nowadays, should I say Nadal - Federer? ) in Wimbledon.

:spit: Are you on crack? This time last year Nadal was being pushed all over the court and facing set points to the likes of Troicki and Niemenin, and had a retirement from PHM. This year he hasn't come close to losing a set yet, has an absolutely ridiculous winners to UE ratio for the tournament overall, with Gonzo putting up a respectable fight for two and a half sets before looking mentally and physically resigned when Rafa broke back in the third. There's no way anyone who was actually watching him last year, and now this year can make a comment like that with a straight face.

Nadal will be there, I think, he's very impressive, I understand Radwanska who said he will win the tournament.

And then I hope Federer will join him, but not sure at all for that.

Tsonga doesn't move as well as last year, no.

And Nadal looks far far better, incredible !

And last year Tsonga's semi-final was really too incredible to expect the same.

I can't see Nadal reaching a hard court final ever, no matter how he's playing, unless he gets a lucky draw or the other player retires. I would like Verdasco to reach the final. I hope Roddick or Del Potro do as well. As long as those arrogant bastards Djokovic and Federer don't reach it I'll be fine with it.

His draw is extremely easy and opponents that can crush him get themselves knocked out or tired beforehand. He might actually make a final because of this but he shall never win.

Murray falling out serves well for Nadal, but for the first time I'm hoping this doesn't happen. Maybe it's because I think Federer will win rather easily vs Nadal on this surface, or I'm growing a little tired of the 2 playing each other. This is the Aussie Open, home of the darkhorse. We got a streak to keep damnit!

If Federer meets Nole in the semis here - he wont beat him

he needs Roddick to take him out today IMO - and then has to beat DelPo himself of course.. which is not a given

I'd say the chance is about 50 percent. So far Federer and Nadal have stood out.

And I would love it. Tsonga, Roddick etc. are good, but Federer and Nadal are the two great champions of our time. Two superb players who have perfected their very different styles in ways that weren't imaginable before them. Frankly I would like to see Federer and Nadal play GS finals against one another as often as possible, before one of them starts to slip.

This would be their first GS final on hard court, so one more reason to hope for a Federer-Nadal matchup.

If Rafa gets by Simon, and Tsonga battles past Verdasco, the Rafa-Tsonga match up will not be the blow out it was last year. Rafa is serving better and hitting deeper, flatter backhands now, and most of all, he knows Tsonga's game now. But don't count Verdasco out...the battle for last year's last spot in the Masters event was between him and Tsonga, Tsonga did not win the Masters, and Verdasco won the deciding rubber against Argentina at home against Nalby. Although Simon eeked out a victory against a tired Nadal in Paris indoors, Rafa really should have won that match, up a set and a break. I don't believe Rafa is in such poor shape in the beginning of the year that he will let THAT happen again. Rafa/Fernando in the semis could be quite interesting, as Rafa didn't get to go to that Davis Cup final...

As for Fed vs Roddick...goodbye Roddick!
