I know I'm jinxing it if it hasn't happened, and maybe it has happened recently, but I don't remember, but have all of the top eight seeds ever made it through to the quarters of a slam before?

Down Murray Nando! :evil grin: Yeah, there's another thread. I looked at the records back to 79, and found: Hmm, the nature of this question interested me, so I took a look back through the history books. Since 1978, I didn't find any instance of this happening, even once. The closest: 7 - French Open 1984 (#1 McEnroe, #2 Lendl, #3 Connors, #4 Wilander, #5 Arias, #6 Noah, #7 Gomez) (also #9 Sundstrom) (missing #8 Clerc) 7 - French Open 1983 (#1 Connors, #2 McEnroe, #3 Lendl, #4 Vilas, #5 Wilander, #6 Noah, #8 Higueras) (also Roger-Vasselin)(missing #7 Clerc) Both times it was J-L Clerc who created the miss, losing in the 2nd round In the Australian, the closest i found: 6 - Australian Open 1983 (#1 Lendl, #2 McEnroe, #3 Wilander, #4 Teltscher, #5 Kriek, #7 Smid) (also #15 Mayotte, Masur) (missing #6 Gerulaitis, #8 Jarryd) 6 - Australian Open 1996 (#2 Agassi, #4 Becker, #5 Chang, #6 Kafelnikov, #7 Enqvist, #8 Courier) (also Woodforde, Tillstrom) (missing #1 Sampras, #3 Muster) I could see equalling this AO record this year, but I would imagine one of either Tsonga and Simon will go down. So if any 2 of the remaining three seeds win, there will be a new AO record, and there certainly looks like a good chance at 8-for-8.
