Gee whiz, he's a tough cookie to break isn't it? So strong mentally, never throws away his leads, hits the overheads well, he's an all-round gun.

He's the biggest mental midget I've ever seen play tennis.

Mentally strong? I rather see Bilbo's grandmother walk without a wheelchair.

Makes Marat look tough. Even the Big Russian wouldn't go away from a simple hit-the-winner strategy that is actually working.

Seriously? Federer was always ahead in the third set.

7th game of the 3rd set was decisive. Berdych served and had 40-15 to go 4-3 up, but couldn't convert and got broken after several deuces.
Federer did well, since he was missing a lot in the two opening sets he started to play percentages in the 3rd set probably knowing that Berdych's level of play and footwork would drop, which it did. As a result he hit only 4 UE in that set. After that Berdych was done and never looked like the winner.

All credit to Berdych, I've never seen anyone hit the ball that hard. That has to be the biggest forehand in tennis right now.

Berdych is remarkably mentally weak, as was showcased again today.

At least Gasquet gonzo had a competitve 5th set.

This is just an anticlimax. If Fed plays like this against anyone else he is a gonner. Del P and Nole won't let him off like this.

Djokovic hasn't exactly looked great in any of his matches either.... I think Roddick will beat him, assuming he beats Baghdatis (which is no sure thing at all).

Federer will crush Del Potro imo.

Federer will crush Del Potro, defeat subavarage Djokovic in semifinals and then in the final he will either be defeated by Nadal/Murray in 3-4 sets or he will win against Tsonga in 3-4 sets.

Anyways Berdych was blowing Fed off the court the first 2 sets, anyone who actually *watched* the match knows this.

Well yeah but its not like Roger was doing anything to deserve getting back in the match. Birdick for GOAT in choking.

I think Birdick might have Parkinsons disease actually, its tough when it comes at such a young age.

Yes, I wasn't too impressed with Federer today, it should be enough to beat Del Potro, but after that...

Berdych was horrible when it mattered, though.

The match was all about Berdych in the 1st 2 sets, in the 3rd set Federer took control of the match but Berdych did hang on and then suddenly he played a horrible game at 3-3, but one game doesnt make it the worst choke of all time. Look at the stats, Federer had 11 ues in set 1 and 13 ues in set 2 and then only 3 ues in set 3 and 4. Federer played much better in set 3 and Berdych was still playing great tennis.

many people here would have relished Federer going out this early and they would have called Berdych GOAT for the rest of the year trolling the hell out of Fed fans, thats why there is bitterness and disappointment in the air, one thing I'm glad for is that Federer didn't give them that and he stayed there like he always does, Berdych played out of his mind in the first two sets and seems it was a big ask for him to do it one more set thats all, if this was not a Slam Berdych would have got the W already.

Ohh man watch out, we got a bunch of gladiators in here. You guys talk like if it was routine to close down a tight match against one of the best players ever..It is about one of the most dificcult task there is.
