Monfils won't know what to do when Simon feeds him zero pace shots, will get frustrated, and explode.

Agreed. I just feel that both are slightly similar but Gilles is just waaay too smart. and will make Gael look so brainless. I'd rather they drew though

Yeah - although Monfils has improved there under his new coach, Simon is on another level. He's probably the most tactically effective player on tour.

Andy Murray is on another level. Simon with his weak serving is not that superior to Monfils. Since Simon is already more settled in his game I'd favor him slightly over Monfils. But going forward I see Monfils passing him by.

Lol, you obviously haven't seen him this week, his serve has looked great.

And I still think Gilles himself needs to bulk up a bit, not as much as Monfils but a little, I don't think he has reched his full potential yet.

I can see that Monfils is trying to be more aggresive and especially at this stage he is bound to be so indecisive so Simon and his baiting shots are gonna annoy this shit out of him. He's not a great tactician and Simon is certainly one of the best if not the best in the world at it and I think that will be the defining factor.

Monfils won't know what to do when Simon feeds him zero pace shots, will get frustrated, and explode.

By the same logic, Simon won't know what to do when a more athletic retriever runs him ragged and he has to step inside of the service box to finish a point. No matter the case, I'll enjoy this for the cracking match I know it will be, all 5+ hours.

Love them both, but Gilles to win...love him more. And also want history to be made. If Gilles wins this match and Nadal, Murray and Tsonga win theirs then we have all the top 8 seeded guys in the quarters!!! Now that would be quite something.

There is no reason for it. It's a silly rule that no one seems willing to address. We have a match thread here. I fail to see the downside to discussing the match in this thread.

It's against the rules, but no one knows why.

There is a thread for live matches (all matches get discussed in one thread in a forum no one visits). No one uses the thread, yet nothing has been done to address the issue. I've asked moderators to see if they can do something by bringing it up to whomever's in charge. They never seem to bother.

But the last time I was here active on this forum, there were daily OOP & Score threads in the tournament section and lots of people were posting here. You could also go there if the tournament's live scoring was shit and people were posting that were watching it on tv somewhere. That was the great thing from this worldwide forum...

Live chat and scoring can be done in the tournament forum (you can start a thread if one doesn't exist) or in the Gamblers Lounge.

This rule is still in force so I must enforce it.

No one posts in those threads anymore. We might as well be able to discuss the matches in these WWW threads. Can anyone offer an argument that would suggest that there's a down side to discussing live matches in WWW threads?

Can any of the moderators raise the issue with the Admin? No one posts in the tournament forum threads. It's a pointless rule. Surely it can be raised with the Admin and be changed?

There isn't a proper reason. The only reason is that it's part of the rules. No one can actually make a sound argument for why the rule exists, though.

But yeah seriously mods you need to seriously consider ditching this rule and let us talk about the match just in these WWW threads. Its really annoying that there is no place to talk about the match with poeple who share different opinions than you (aka outside of the player forum).

May I suggest the WWW threads? They exist anyway, so posting about live matches in them won't clutter the forum with separate match threads.
