I wonder the same thing. I think people like him get a rush out of hitting the ball that hard. Like an addiction, it clouds their judgement. Plus I don't think he really had another game plan to begin with.

Some of the most idiotic tennis I've ever seen from Korolev, quite appalling.

Good match for Fed from what little I saw :) According to the post-match stats the Russian actually had one more winner at 26 and converted his single BP, but the Swiss had only 15 UEs, seized most of his numerous break opportunities (7/13 I think) and was solid on serve and at net.

Winners (Including Service) 26 25 To Korolev
Winner (Not Including Serve) 24 17 To Korolev

Korolev>Federer

hehe jokes about the Korolev>Federer. Appalling from Korolev, needs to think some more seemed always in a hurry and trying to play above himself. Showed glimpses of why i enjoy watching him but he really needs to start thinking on court some more and working with a proper coach. I have faith in him becoming a consistent top 20 player within the next 3 years. Korolev reminds me of Safin on a bad day when he was younger lol. I enjoyed some of the stuff Federer did today.

Goooo Safin against Federer!!!!!
