Lol, so typical. As soon as he missed the two break points beginning 5th set, I just knew he was going to lose. Pathetic...

Good win Delic :yeah: He had very similar match last year in Melbeourne against Monaco (also in the 2nd round) but lost 6-8 in the fifth.

Typical Mathieu, 4-9 in five-setters, 6th defeat after 2-0 up in sets (maybe it's a record )

This is an excellent win for him. He's probably going to get slaughtered on Friday, and being friends with the Tournament Director won't save him.

But hey, nice paycheck this week.

Delic had a lot of support from the Bosnians...they had like 50 people in one section with flags and he was really happy to see them there. good to see that he didnt forget where he came from.

Djok match could be a worse than Croats vs Serbs but in a big stadium it wont be a problem...plently of room for both groups

Great wins for Delic. I am somewhat surprised he managed to keep his composure and win a close match.

PHM must have played appallingly though.

The word 'choker' gets thrown around too much in sport, but Mathieu is the absolute epitome of a choker, there is absolutely no hyperbole in the word when it is applied to him...

lol, was watching some match on Eurosport and commentator was saying what was happening in other matches. said PHM isn't having any trouble, is up 2 sets to love and the match should soon finish... I thought I should keep an eye on this match, because the possibility he'll choke is huge)) Mathieu didn't disappoint
You can't even feel bad for the guy anymore

Typical Mathieu, 4-9 in five-setters, 6th defeat after 2-0 up in sets (maybe it's a record )Which are the 5 other ones? There were Agassi at the French Open in 2002, Youzhny in Davis Cup, Sargsian and Verdasco at the US Open...

Which are the 5 other ones? There were Agassi at the French Open in 2002, Youzhny in Davis Cup, Sargsian and Verdasco at the US Open...

1st Roland Garros '02: Agassi 6-4 6-3 3-6 3-6 3-6
2nd Davis Cup '02: Youzhny 6-3 6-2 3-6 5-7 4-6
3rd US Open '04: Sargsian 6-4 6-4 4-6 2-6 6-7
4th Australian Open '07: Verdasco 7-6 6-4 6-6(3:1) ret.
It doesn't count as a 5-set loss but could've finished in 3 sets
5th US Open '07: Verdasco 6-3 6-1 4-6 3-6 3-6
6th Australian Open '09: Delic 6-1 6-3 3-6 6-7 7-9

Fuck! This forum goes slowly as Australian courts in Melbourne ;) I tried 5-6 times to post it

OK, thanks, you're counting the retirement against Verdasco at the AO, I was only thinking of the "real ones".

4 until today doesn't sound that much to me.
People always make fun of PHM because of that, but Grosjean pulled off the same stunt 4 times at the Australian Open alone, that's quite an achievement.

Adri89
01-21-2009, 02:16 PM
His "best choke" still is the third round in Monte-Carlo 2006 against Coria in three sets.
PHM lost 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-4 after leading 6-1, 4-0 and having two match points in the second set....

So happy for Amer...particularly after his tough loss last year. He actually should be a much better pro...if he only came to the net more. But, methinks the party ends against Novak...

I just hope and pray no confrontations occur during the match...and that the tourney officials keep things under control.

PHM...:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::h aha:

That match against Blake in the Davis Cup I thought could not be topped...but to lose after saving all those match points...and blowing Delic out in the first two sets...

I recall his comments after his loss to Agassi at the French in 2002, from two sets up and 3-1 in the fifth. He admitted that his legs had 'gone' (read: his body became paralysed with nerves) after getting the lead. Still, he said, he retained his hopes of winning Roland Garros one day. There was something so poignantly unconvincing about the way he said that and I thought ouch, this is the beginning of a long and painful career.
