When'd you find this out? I've looked on the ATP site, and it still has him as a participant....

I actually found out from someone who is in Cinci at present - but if you go to the tourney web-site and click on "Draws" you will see that he has officially wthdrawn and is citing an "elbow" injury. I'll probably find out more tomorrow and let you know - I simply have to go to bed now.

Now Chela is playing Nadal. It's terrible. I guess now we know why he was playing so badly at the practise. I hope this is nothing too serious because he has had enough already, he doesn't need another injury, especially now...

When I saw this thread i thought he might of pulled out of Cinncy to give him extra rest for Olympics and USO, but ANOTHER injury??    Just hope he'll be okay in time for the USO, the Olympics would be nice too, but i'm probably asking for too much.

What the hell is going on??????? :(

I never heard of that "elbow injury", don't know if it occured in the practise or some other time. yes, he may want to set the goal up on the Olympics, which is much important for him to play for his country. But, i cann't see any reason to expect he can be at his best when playing the Olympics.    Hope we can get more news of his injury, then giving the judgement will be more reasonble.

and yixiang, honey, i think one of his purposes to withdraw from Cincy is for the Olympics. Olympics is only once every four years, and he must know how important it is. When i calm down, i think maybe we should respect his choice coz perhaps he wants more rest for the olympics. anyway, without any interview from him, all oppinions are only the guess.

Please do not worry girls :) This is just precautionary - David has a pain in his right elbow - he is just being careful in the run up to the Olympics. I think maybe he came back a little too early from injury and put excess strain on his elbow when serving. He is going to Miami today to train seriously for Athens. I am pretty sure Coria will withdraw a little later today and they will train together, - please don't be too hard on him - he and his Team know what they are doing!

really thanks, rosie:hug: yeah, perhaps we are really too hard on him. but it's such a pity that what a talanted and potential player suffer so many injuries, and can't play in his best. He should deserve much more achievement in tennis than now without those damn injuries. Any way, i will follow his choice for Athen. and what we can do now is only the TRUST. :)

I just hang up with David" said his brother Dario from Unquillo last night. "There is no problem. It is a simple pain in the elbow, which bothers him when he serves. That's the way it is: it doesnt matter how long you have rested, the circuit makes you pay when you come back after a long time of not playing and start again. They are going to stay training in Miami."

la nacion:

Dario commented that the withdrawl was by precaution. "David wants to go to the Games. He prefered not to play and to be in Atenas"

so guess we don't have to worry that much, like Rose told..
just have to show a little bit more patience and trust in David and his team

so just get well soon!

Hi Red....!!! :wavey:

As Rose and you told before!!1I´m sure in a 100% that the only thing that he has in his head now is the olympics!!!So if this not a bad bad injury is a good thing that he wants to stay only practising to the olympics. my fear is that if he has another thing in the olympics he´ll get his best to rich a medal i hope the injuries disapear for good!!!!

Love

Yes Nova, for him as for the others guys is a big thing play for our country, but David is that kind of player that in this situation gets the best from himself...i mean play for Argentina is an extra motivation for him.....
He becames in a big players when he has to wear argentinian t-shirt..you know what i mean???

oh, of course i know, Ceci. :D i still remember he once gave up Miami TMS in the first part of this year, in order to be ready for the DC match against Belarus. unfortunately, finally he still didn't manage it. So he did the same decision for the same purpose now, and it will be great for him to fight for his courtry, not for points, not for money, the only thing i worried is over-expectation of your whole courtry could be a burden to him.:tape:

You know??? I don´t think so,here is not the same thing in tennis than the fútbol, and either David is that kind of player that feels the pressure so i guess is probably a pressure from him self the only thing that he has right now.....

I think that the country pressure will be much more for Coria (if he goes).
But of course David will feel it too..but that can also be motivating for him!

Ceci, i know soccer (fútbol??) is more important and popular in your country. But whatever sports, there's one thing in common, that is playing for your country, no matter this sports is more popular or not. I know tennis is a more individual game, not like soccer. and players are playing the tournaments month for month, year for year, more as an individual, except the DC, WTC, Fedcup, and hopmancup....etc. But when the Olympics, everything is different, Olympics can't provide them much money, points as the GS, and it's so close to the US Open. So the extra motivation is playing for the country, which can make him perform great! mmmmmmmm, i would like to see his Olympic look ;) am I out of my mind??

BTW, i just saw from our TV news here said Coria is out, and Mariano will replace him, is it true?

Hi Nova, good morning everybody!!!
yes Fútbol is soccer, and i know what you mean, and i agree with you, but no in the case of pressure, here, the tennis player the press only taulk about soccer so they doesn´t give the tennis the same pressure you know what i mean???
About Coria, yesterday all the press confirmed the bad news, but today are saying that tomorrow he´ll decide if is out or not.....

hi, Ceci, actually, it's night here!! :wavey: but glad to give you my morning greeting!! think i got some understanding.... i could imagine what your press said when your soccer team lost the America Cup final ..... :ignore:

and thanks for your information, i heard from our TV news here that Argentina has not got a olympics golden medal for more than 50 years    which stuns me (don't know if it's true)......maybe Athen will be a good chance to break this. ;)

David is NOT in Athens yet. He is still in Miami and won't leave there til next Monday (9th August). He is training and hopes to be at his best for the Olympics but Eduardo (his Coach) has already said that he cannot be 100% match fit after only playing one match in two months and we should not expect too much of him. Guess some of our British athletes don't know how lucky they are - Olympics is really not such a big deal here - so there is very little pressure on them - not like the Wimbledon pressure that Tim Henman feels for example - I doubt many British people could name more than 3 sportspeople going to Athens :)

Raquel

I agree Rosie, I know Paula Radcliffe and hope she does well, but outside of her I would be struggling to name any more of the athletics team.

At least David and his coach are realistic about Athens. Any win/wins there will be a bonus and good practice for US Open more than anything else :)

Is true Nova, about the gold medal......we hope that this olympics would be more nice for Argentina, we have a lot of chance in Hockey, Fútbol, tennis and basquet, and the aquatics sports too, so maybe this is our time!!! ;)
About the american cup, was so sad, but for first time in years the press was nice with the team, is just they played really really well, was a great championship for us, even when Brazil won(only for good luck) we was really glad that our :worship: team :worship: was played in that way again....
