AO courts are definitely slower than ass.
The womens matches are going to be unbearable to watch.

Tough to hit 19 aces in a set on a slow court

The close up of the main court just shown on ESPN is the grainiest thing i have ever seen.

Looks like a blue sand beach:eek:

It's difficult to determine the speed of a court from watching a Roddick rally because he can make ice look slow.

I think Nadal would prefer a court slightly faster than this one, but more than anything, one that takes topspin better.

How well are they taking spin?

Takes slice well, keeping down really low.

quite a few clean winners in this tomic starace match and neither is exactly the biggest hitter out there and yeah Tomic has hit a couple of awesome slices.

Yea I had him in mind when I said that, he's getting nice sidespin on his slices, and the fucker keeps hitting backhands down the line

yeah that bh dtl seems to be his fave shot. did you see the slice starace just hit? he's not exactly known for it and the ball stayed about 2 inches off the ground.

Is it possible to hit through the court either flat or win spin or does the ball kind of stay up?

Yes to all of those.

Flat hitters will have the low bounce advantage, but it won't go through the court as fast while the topspin hitters will have the aid of a slower court but the drawback of a lower bounce.

If anything, its even for everyone

overall advantage MURRAYWhy is it a disadvantage to Fed because it's a slow court? The guy's won AO 3 times, IW 3 times and Miami twice. Those are all slower hard courts.

The courts aren't slow. at the same time the courts aren't very fast either.
It is medium paced surface. Volleying is defeinetly going to be hard though.

Low courts, taking too much spin.

Hisense looks slower than Laver. Del Potro barely hit a winner in a baseline exchange all match. He hit a fuckload of winners but they were mostly passing shots

Substitute Laver with MCA. I didn't even know what court I was watching.

I think Brad is getting old.

Anyhow i figured this is not ideal for Roger, but who will bet against the great man going all the way?

Del Pony was on Hisense because I had the displeasure of watching that mug live on court.

I saw Tsonga (by day) and Federer (by night) play :

it definitely didn't look slow imo !

I had the impression that it was quicker than the US Open, especially at night.

Where have I read that before?

del potro looks like he doesnt shower,he looks like he has smelly feet

Hisense seems to be playing slower than Rod Laver but the outside courts are all playing reasonably. The surface is a slow to average paced hard court with good spin reception, a happy medium for both ballbashers and retrievers.

Slices are staying nice and low.

Thank you for your explanations, many people seem to say the same.

But about the Hisense, I'm quite surprised because it's the court where Tsonga destroyed Monaco

Maybe that's because Paszek can't defend due to the 2 massive burdens she is forced to carry around on court.

I want independent confirmation that Del Potro lacks hygiene. Can we have a reporter go up and smell him? I can't think of a more pressing issue then this.

 I know -- if she had reduction surgery, maybe she'd make top 10 like Henin and others had predicted.

Though that decision would probably be unpopular around here.

Slower than the courts at Miami? Those courts seem like the slowest of the big hard court tournies but man do they take spin well. The plexicushion courts seem to favor flatter hitters IMO.
