Tsonga is OK and hungry

Tsonga says he will take part in the tournament.

For those who read French, here it is :

http://www.lequipe.fr/Tennis/breves2009/20090118_050044_tsonga-sera-la.html

he says he feels better and he's "hungry" :D

he says that it's usual for him playing tournaments with injuries.

he says that in Paris-Bercy, it was "near to the limit" (in the beginning of his match against Roddick, I had the impression that he didn't withdraw only to please the spectators),
in Bangkok he had problems with his back and his knee was inflated,
in the US Open he felt also bad.

He says he plays more relaxed when he's injured :D

He also says he likes the heat, since his ball goes quicker.

He thanks the organizers for allowing him to play on tuesday evening.

However, he says Monaco is a tough opponent, and he just hopes going through that 1st round : if he reaches the 2nd week, he and his coach hope he can play freely.

It's interesting to see he has a night match. I would assume it is on Hisense with the Hewitt match on Rod Laver night session. Maybe Hewitt will play in the day though?

So was he faking injury in Sydney?

no but Tsonga is like that : he's very fragile, he has to live with that.

Everyone remembers Murray losing to Tsonga first round last year, few people remember Murray handled him rather easily in Metz a couple of months before that. If they meet, a Tsonga win is hardly a foregone conclusion.

So was he faking injury in Sydney?

Of course. Also, have you noticed how nobody has seen him on a practice court yet, about 8 hours before the beginning of the AO? That's all part of the plan.

According to the link, and if I got it right (still learning French), he's not exactly, 100%, but as good as he could be.

He'll do okay.

he is bluffing. he has to play and try to defend some of the pts. Ljuboss will take care of him in the 2nd round.

It was always part of the plan. According to the article, he was always going to start practising today... only doing some physical gym work on Sunday. Or at least I think that's what the article said... my French is really rusty atm

Un mal pour un bien pour le Français qui doit reprendre le tennis seulement lundi pour son premier entraînement après des exercices en salle de gym dimanche ?

Sorry in advance if that's what you meant above.

when I saw this thread title I thought he was like, rescued by search dogs after wandering lost (http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/01/02/2457891.htm) three days in the outback or something.
