Tough to call this one as it seems Xavier is finally starting to find some form but so is Dancevic.

I actually see Dancevic winning this one, Dancevic is coming into form and we all know how talented he is, and although Malisse is the more explosive and better player, i will go with Franko to win this one and get in the AO 09

Frank  Malisse seems very edgy: he'll lose his concentration while Frank is focused and very eager to make the MD  (however )

Two guys with lots of talent and potential who can't seem to get their shit together. Toss up, but I'm obviously hoping for my man Frank.

Frank doesn't play challangers. Hopefully one the loser gets in as a LL as these two are clearly the 2 best players in the qualifying draw. Kinda sad we have matches like Serra vs. Karanusic, Fognini vs. Golubev, Bellucci vs. Lu, Starace vs Tomic, Calleri vs. GGL etc. In the MD and these 2 warriors fighting for a spot in the MD.

Frank played all challengers between the US Open and the start of the new season, so I'm confused by what you mean

In any case, I agree this is a crappy match for these guys to fight out when there will be some much weaker players making it in :(

I think Frank will have a good chance in this one, but I'm afraid that when push comes to shove he'll lose out on the important few points needed to get the victory

Hopefully he'll prove me wrong, go Frank :yeah:

both made it to the main draw so it doesnt really matter anymore

can anyone explain what happened in the first set?
watching the scoreline, malisse wasn't having any trouble at all until 3*-2 30-0, losing only 1 point on his own service and always making it to atleast deuce on dancevic' serve.
but then malisse lost 16 out of 17 points, and by that also the first set...
very strange!
did anyone watch the match?

I got the impression from 1 or 2 of his atp matches from last year that dancevic doesn't have that much pop on his groundies. Fun to watch though.

He doesn't. Inconsistent off the ground, too. When he's playing well he wins matches with his serve and by closing in on the net.

And yes, he is very fun to watch. :)
