Sun, Surf and Bikinis - AO 2009

Well the draw is out for the first GS of the year, Willy is in Rafa's half. Willy's 1st rd opponent is Keifer, hopefully Keifer still hasn't recovered from his ankle injury he sustained in the HC. If Willy gets through that he will play the winner of Hewitt vs Gonzo in the 2nd rd.

I just want him to win his 1st rd match at this stage.

Same here, nothing against Keifer, but he sure can be tough if he wanted to. so good luck to Willy, as you said a first round win is what we're hoping for (at least for now ;))

Yes, it could be tough one as Kiefer plays well at the Aussie Open, but he can definitely be beaten, especially if Canas is in good form. I would love to see him win this first round match, I think it would be huge for his confidence for the year.

:fiery: i can't believe he's getting a crappy draw again. He's not starting off the year with any favors. :speakles:
I hope he's in excellent form, performing well and with his heart and soul into it!!

Von, well at least it is not Gonzo he has to play 1st rd. This will be a repeat of his Wimbledon 1st rd match, where he was leading Keifer but he injured his ankle and subsequently lost in 4 sets.

I'm sure he will play with his heart and soul.

Kiefer is out and has been replaced by the qualifier Kindlmann. I'm not surprised since last time I saw Kiwi he was being taken off the court at Hopman Cup in a wheelchair.

Snoo I was just coming to report the same thing, let us hope it is a 1st rd win for the Willstar.

BTW which country does your flag represent - sorry for being ignorant.

Lucky Willy indeed here... Lets hope for a win and a boost for his confidence :yeah:

I have gone and checked the doubles draw and OMG Willy is playing with Marat. :lick:

01-19-2009, 07:23 PM
Wow, that is a nice combination ;), I wonder how these two got together, good luck to them and of course good luck to Willy in his first match

Interesting about the Doubles. Canas won a doubles at a challenger at the end of 2008 with another Russian, Tursonov. I think they will be a great doubles team. Good Luck Willy!!

Well he was certainly moving quite well in practice but it is 1 set all and Kindlemann is about to serve for the 3rd set. Unfortunately no livestream etc.
Hoping he comes through however how long it takes, and if he wins he will take on Gonzo.

I only saw the last 3 points, he looked fresh as a daisy at the end, kindlmann dfd on mp :awww: whew. Next stop Gonzo!

01-20-2009, 08:46 AM
Yesssssss:bounce: he's through finally. Seriously, he’s got to stop getting broken while serving for the match, but a win is a win, I really missed grand slam wins :).

01-20-2009, 08:50 AM

Snoo I thought he would get really nervous and blow it, lucky you to be able to watch the last 3 pts. I really think he can beat Gonzo he did it last year in Miami he can do it again but could he not give us a heart attack while doing it.

01-20-2009, 11:23 AM
Well, a win is a win and at least he's getting the match practise ;)
Good luck for the next round!

I love his accent and the way he speaks. He is so confidnet and friendly. I wish I could understand what he is talking about. I gathered he was describing his tatts at the end.

BTW could he stop drawing on himself now, he is watching too much Miami Ink.

He definitely has a job in tv after he finishes with tennis.

Willy up first on MCA. Woohoo I was sure they would of put this match on an outside court. And a double dose of him because later in the day his doubles match with Marat will be on the same court. Hopefully my computer will be able to handle all the hotness.

Vamos Willy, sorry Gonzo. I love you too but not when you play Willy

01-21-2009, 07:59 PM
naah, wasn't expecting him to be on outside court when playing Gonzo. I hope it's a lucky court for him :S
Glad he's up first so i dont have to stay up all night. :tennis:

haha ...... maybe that's where he went for his tat...i kinda like it, but wish to know what it sais

01-22-2009, 03:31 AM
Well he lost, I was watching it on tv but had to leave at the beginning of the 3rd set. Does he usually move so slow between points, he kinda looked hung over. Gonzo played too big today, he looked awesome. I don't mind him losing to Gonzo though. Loved it when Willy redid his pony tail and he was kind of laughing. And yes he does have long hair. The conditions were appalling hot and gusty. The atmospher looked great and I hoped he enjoy it.

I am hoping for a better result in his doubles match with Marat.

01-22-2009, 03:32 AM
About his tattoo it looks like arabic writing. No more tatts Willy.

01-22-2009, 04:33 AM
Well, I guess the result today isn't much of a surprise since Feña seems to be in good form.
Couldn't watch it as it was in the middle of the night over here, but I'll be downloading it later.

Vamos for the doubles! :yeah:

01-22-2009, 05:08 AM
Willy you are a shocking volleyer. You are letting the team down.

01-22-2009, 06:24 AM
Yeah I guess the loss was kind of expected and it was a deserved win for Gonzo. But all in all he played a decent match, not the best I've seen him play of course but it was good. I only saw the last game of the doubles match he made a couple of brilliant returns but it seemed like neither he nor Marat were really into it.

And about the tattoo this is definitely arabic letters but it's not clear enough for me to read and tell you what it says.

01-22-2009, 10:40 AM
Too bad for Willy, still really not at his best, but he couldn't have lost to a more deserving opponent. :yeah:

I love the new tattoo by the way.

01-22-2009, 11:00 AM
I think the conditons didn't help either. Hoping Gonzo can do some damage at the AO.

Still not sold on the tattoo. I like his arms bare.
