For me the most interesting match-ups are:
Hewitt-Gonzalez
Youzhny-Koubek
Melzer-Nishikori
Mathieu-Nieminen

your thoughts guys?

Garcia-Lopez vs Calleri should be an epic battle with some chokes and comebacks ;)

In the first round I'd like to see these matches:

Murray - Pavel - always nice to see Pavel's backhand, I'm curious his disposition, especially that he hasn't played a match for a long time

Canas - Kiefer - two veterans, Canas' first match of the season, Kiefer's first as well in ATP; interesting section of the draw because the winner of this match plays with the winner of Hewitt-Gonzalez match, another worth to watch

Querrey - Kohlschreiber

Ferrero - Santoro

Tsonga - Monaco - ambitious Monaco would be a tricky 1st round opponent for Tsonga if the Frenchman is affected by an injury

Nadal's first two round are pathetic, Rochus and Serra will have problem to win 4 games in a set, Europort certainly shows both matches, completely waste of time

Rochus and Serra can decide to play against Nadal at the same time and they would still lose.

I am already getting nervous and feeling my heart beating really fast about the Hewitt Gonzo match. I bet that will be a one intense 5 set thriller, provided they're both at their best. Lleyton will be inspired, and Gonzo would want to get the results that seem to have gone missing recently.

Hewitt - Gonzo.

Has night match epic written all over it.

After all this hype, Hewitt will probably win 6-2 6-4 6-2 or something like that!

yes... i agree... one of the bigger opening rounds in the AO recently...

Montanes vs Gulbis will probably be the ladies match just beforehand...

Soderling-Kendrick - both bad guys with an aggresive game. :yeah:

Also Stepanek-Lapentti (would like to see this one go the distance), Golubev-Fognini (battle of the renegated 1987s), Schwank-Haas...

I agree that the WTA first rounds are wilder. Though any WTA mention is absolute sacrilege of course. ;)

Tsonga-Monaco could be wild if Tsonga plays. Querrey-Kohlschreiber might be hard fought. Schwank-Haas. And yeah, Hewitt-Gonzo.

The King vs. Tipsy? :D Nishi vs. Melzer.

Muller-Lopez could be a fight. I wonder if Muller might make another hard court slam run, if not on the scale of the USO. Actually, even if he beats Lopez, third round (del Potro) is probably as far as he can go.

Maybe it'll get more interesting when the qualifiers are added.

When the Channel 7 guy told Martin Rodriguez, Gonzo's coach that Gonzo had Hewitt in round 1, the shock on his face was hilarious.

I think the 2nd round will be more difficult for Gonzo, cause both Kiefer and Cañas owns him. :o

I laughed when I saw hewitt VS gonzo, and then felt sorry for Gonzo. But what a match!!!

And for me, the Ferrero VS Santoro match is going to be great, because it means outside court and I can see Ferrero. And I think Ferrero will win pretty easily (or if not easily, he'll still win ultimately), which means I can see him again the next time:)

I couldn't be happier, I just don't want Monaco to lose to Tsonga, thats my only objection to the draw.

And if I can make it to Calleri/GGL, thats gonna be awesome. GGL always lifts his game in Australia, I think he'll do it again

Federer - Seppi. Federer is a shadow of the player he used to be, he can lose to anyone in the top 100 these days.

Seppi has a decent game from the back of the court but his service is horrible.Probably Federer will be in most of Seppi`s service games and we will see a few long 10 deuce games.
But Seppi not getting any free points on serve i doubt he stands any chance in a best of 5 match

Seppi's BH and FH are okay, but he doesn't have much variety or creativity in him.. you need that to beat Federer. Fed has a 3-0 record against him, but in his first meeting he really struggled against Seppi.

All you need to beat Fed these days is a hard shot to his BH and he's in trouble.

Soderling-Kendrick - both bad guys with an aggresive game. :yeah:

I've got a question there. Why is Kendrick considered to be a bad guy. I recall a couple of posters who have said the same before, but I've never seen anything that indicates Kendrick to be a bad guy
