Seems like a good match from Djoko. At least the scoreline suggests so.

That was quite an impressive display from Djokovic. Looks like he got more pop up with the new racquet, great speed and also good depth on groundies. If he can play like this in AO he is definitely the favorite at least equally with Murray and Federer. Mathieu made few mistakes here and there but in general he did not played bad, simply Novak was far more superior on court today. But I have no doubts that Djokovic will tank the first tougher match in Sydney anyway.

PHM is supposed suffering from stomach pain but Djokovic is definitely smoking on both wings.

he's a threat in AO, as no one expects him to win.

Nole was :worship: PHM was not moving well at all, letting a lot of balls go, he had the trainer out a couple times for stomach pain, so he was either suffering physically and/or else gave up the ghost fairly early on.

I didn't see the match but it seems Mathieu broke Djokovic 3 times. So he didn't hold throughout the match? How pathetic.

Dispite Nole's first round loss a few days ago in his last tourny, i see him being a big condender for the number 2 spot this season

I wouldn´t read too much into this result. Even if both players were playing at their best, Nole would probably win pretty easily, but I´m guessing Mathieu thought his chances were slim to begin with, so he decided not to put up too much of a fight, and to take the rest of the week easy and prepare for the AO. Nole needs more match practice, so no surprise if he goes deep here.
The reason why I don´t bet on matches right before a GS event, is because you never know if someone actually wants to win the match or not.
