I am so pleased for Richard, the last time I watched him play Tursunova, it was ugly, there was a bagel, doors and windows had to be shut in this corner of England as the neighbours don't like bad language and I had an "episode!":( No "episode" today. Allez Richie!!!!!!!!!!! :bounce::bigclap:

Richie21 you must be overjoyed that your fave player didn't suffer an extraordinary collapse against Tursunov once again.

Of course NEITHER players have been in great form lately, so for many of Richie's fans, this is a GREAT win!

I'll be overjoyed when he'll beat one of the top 4 players again(and particularly Nadal whose record against him is a complete joke).

Aren't most players records against Nadal a complete joke?

Sometimes a player just gets into your head and I think Nadal does this to Gasquet, like Murray does to Fed. Just my opinion.
Richard is ranked 25 in the world now? What do you honestly expect of him at the moment, not what do you hope for? I hope for him to win every grand slam but I doubt it will happen. I'm not deluded despite what you have said in the past. But I EXPECT him to have a better season than last year and show more mental strength and resilience and he is doing that so far. I just think you expect too much of a player who is ranked 25. I actually think YOU are the one who is being unrealistic. Not his fans. We like him and support him whatever.

Unrealistic??
So asking him to at the very least accomplish what the likes of Grosjean,Tsonga,Pioline,Robredo or Forget is unrealistic(winning a Master Serie or/and making a GS final)??? LOL
We are not talking about Llodra or about some average player who is ranked 25 but about RICHARD GASQUET,you know, the player who was on the cover of the most famous french tennis magazine at the tender age of 9(yes,9!),who was rated as the biggest talent France have seen in the last 30 years, who was the most precocious french player ever(or close to,being the second youngest world champion ever) and who was seen as a certain future GS winner by almost ALL the french media and public.
So please,Reggie1,give me a break about your "he is ranked 25 so we shouldn't expect too much from him" comment.....
Oh and Richard himself is also responsible for those expectations!
I've still not forgotten what he said 3 years ago after the Toronto final against Federer: "In 2 years,i'll beat him again"
Yeah well we are still waiting........

OMG haven't I opened Pandora's box? I've got visions of steam coming out of your ears and a pair of horns starting to manifest! look, you're the one who keeps telling us all that Gasquet's crap! In 2005 and 2006 ,he was not a crap player and was showing signs of incredible brillance, relatively to his age.
But since then, his level has gone from worse and worse to the point he has become in part a crap player now in my opinion.
That's what i don't understand the most in his case: how can a player's level decrease from 18 to 22,years where normally EVERY player improves his level of play?
But i still have a SMALL faith in him because i can't believe all this incredible potential he showed at 18-19 won't be fullfilled at least once in the future.

Because you know it and I know it, he doesn't have the mentality of most tennis players. I love Richard's play but I'm not blind to his faults. Hell, I don't know what his mentality actually is but he is different to most of the other players, in his interviews, press conferences. He is so shy and humble and never wants to draw attention to himself. There is a "softness" with him which most of us find endearing. I wonder if he has the personality to actually handle his talent? You go on as if anyone who supports him is dumb and deluded. Well, I'm not and neither are his other fans. I see what you see a lot of the time (if I'm honest) but still don't care, I am a fan. He has his faults of course but it doesn't stop me supporting him as he has many wonderful qualities as a person and a player.

ANd how many has Richard won?

No he didn't beat Nadal, or Murray or Fed or the mighty Tsonga AGAIN but he did beat someone who has been a thorn in his side for a LONG time.

HAve no idea how he played and his forehand could have been horrendous but even you have to see some positve to this - he beat some one who pretty much owned him in straight sets, one of which was a tie break. One step at a time.

BUt until/unless he wins "the big one" no point in even discussing anything with you.

On a more funny note: he could not beat him in 2008, as he did not play him. But you obviously expect even this kind of wins. :p

:secret: I committed myself already often to simply ignore you. But you have a real talent in making me losing my calm.

And that was certainly not Federer's fault,if you see what i mean ;)
And despite Roger's not so good form in 2008,do you seriously believe he would have beaten him if he had met him ,considering his form last year??
When Richard said "i'll beat Federer again in 2 years",he probably meant "in the latter stages of the tournaments" because he certainly thought he would become one of the top players then.......but of course,he was wrong :o

I have mentioned this so many times, IMHO I think we wont see the best of Richie for another 2 years at least, what was Roger doing when he was the same age as Richie?? He wasn't setting the world on fire!

Great win for Richie today against Tursunov who has had his measure so many times, It can only be all good with these sort of wins,

following up from his win over Jo in Brisbane, I'm sure there will be some very nervous top seeds hoping they don't draw Richie in there section of the draw for Melbourne, even though he isn't ranked as high as he was at last years Aust Open, He is a dangerous floater in the draw that could do some damage if he gets on a roll!

At Gasquet's current age,Roger had already won a GS and a MS.
Gasquet is not even considered as a contender to win a MS right now,let alone a GS.

Who knows what 2009 will bring with some luck with draws, Richard could do anything, I wonder why you bother even supporting him, I'd love to do some counting up on actual positive messages you have posted about Richie, from where I'm reading it's seems your a very hard person to please or you are in too much of a hurry for Richie to achieve his spot in the elite of the game
Anyway if his results are not to your liking, when Richard is playing well you can't ask to watch anything better, his shots & ability to make these winners, I will still say the 1st set against Nadal in Canada, where would you go to see better tennis then that!

Part of a good true fan is taking the good with the bad, & appreciate the player for what they bring to the game
I couldn't give a damn if Richie was ranked 1 0r 1000, or never wins a MS or GS, wont stop me from following him & appreciate all he does
