This is the opposite of the "name something good about the players you dislike the most." I'm really interested in some posters' thoughts in particular. ;) :p

Roddick -- can be a bit of a jerk when he's losing and a bit of a jerk when he's winning
Gasquet -- should man up and grow a pair
Nadal -- should really be called out more on the time he takes between serves. He's not tired so that's not an excuse
Korolev -- should fire his dad and get a real coach
Blake -- he's not really as nice in person as he seems

Is Blake not nice then? I always thought he was meant to be lovely.

Nalbandian, more tennis, less everything else.

Monfils, tactics doesn't hurt and neither does coming inside the court

Seppi, when you lead with two breaks, yes it is possible to continue like this till the end of the set and starting match from 1-4 is overrated.

Labadze, grow up, you are almost 30.

Seppi - Second serve.

Nieminen - No self belief against the top players and very poor second serve.

Vicente - No law in coming over the ball.

Horna - Needs to fire up on court.

Malisse - Make the inner anger work for you.

del Potro - Don't always be the same, change a bit, you know not play a DC final injured.

Verdasco - Claudio should be in the circus.

Almagro - Yes, the head is as big as a planet, but it's actually possible for him to win matches on hardcourt.

Gaudio - The tanks, when i's not his day.

Hernandez - Too generous, needs to be more selfish.

Berdych - Variation does not mean which hand you wank with.

Tipsarevic - Got to win more matches to play the big matches, that he loves playing.

Luczak and Russell - Not ruthless enough on court, when it counts.

Koubek - Should never have given the yellow shorts away and the 2008 AO match with Mathieu, should never have been lost.

Andreev - Should be paid yearly, by the amount of backhands he hits.

Acasuso - More dope needed.

Djokovic gets too easily distracted by the crowd and things going on around him. He loses concentration easily, and when he's under pressure his first serve deserts him, and his body language gives away the stress he's feeling. He needs to focus more and cut out all the outside distractions.

Safin - self-destructing
Malisse - even more so
Coria - let alone him

Grosjean - great talent, but too much dependant on his forehand; plus his heydays seem to be over
Tsonga - sometimes tends to go for too much
Gasquet - often does not go for as much as he should
Federer - no way I am going to criticize the maestro

Gasquet- He uses the wrong tactics and the wrong times.

Mario - should live under a glass bell and have no life outside tennis to remain healthy :p On a more serious note, small tournaments count towards ranking and you want to win them, especially when you make the final.

Marat - can't really be mad at loveable racket smasher, but it saddens me when he completely loses it over something like those footfaults. Roller coaster rides and ups and downs are taken as part of the package and seem inseparable from that talent, though Lundgren-time showed they can co-exist wonderfully when played right.

Marin - FH, FH, FH, FH and when you wake up do it again. Is there anyone else who has one shot that could at the same time be his main weapon and main liability?

Ernests - get up the rankings, I'm tired of those killer draws. Remaining focused when up in the match seems here already, add some strategy when tings are not working well and/or you're facing someone who feeds on that pace like PHM recently and we'll talk about a steep climb and some even yummier tennis.

Richie - fuck off might not be your style, but it can often be a simple and effective way to deal with both imposed pressure and pricks on the other side of the net a la Fishmeister or the Worm

Haas - thank God my German is not that good so I often don't understand much more then Scheise when he goes on a rampage. He could use a glass bell even more than Mario.

Jo - he coudl use a better BH, but I'll take this one if he'll remain injury free

Berdych - I'll borrow the one on variety

Tsonga - more netplay - you can do it.
Stepanek - less ballbashing, less timeouts.
Berdych - learn to slice the ball, moron.

Dancevic - more consistency, go to the net more, use the slice more, deepen that forehand.

Mario: Anyone remember Wesley Moodie or Anthoine Dupuis?

Marin: Actually I think that his backhand is a one of the best 5 in the game, especially the one down the line. It is not as reliable as it could be , but I find it better than the FH. He is capable of finding great angles on the FH (he is 198 cm tall after all) but sometimes the FH is overcooked.

Murray - I literally can't find anything about his game to criticise, he's close to flawless at the moment. What's terrifying, is that he currently appears to be in 2nd gear. Ive never been a fan of someone who's become this good at anything.

I criticise him for not knowing how to be a proper Scottish/British sportsman. I hope it doesn't get out of hand - I didnt sign up for Federesque type dominance.

Andy Roddick ~ Still needs to hit better approach shots and pick better spots to come into net. Find your backhand please! More aggressive on 2nd serve returns.
Andy Murray ~ Has a problem of getting a little too comfortable in long rallies and doesn't take command of the point.
Gael Monfils ~ Needs to make opponents respect backhand and continue to inch closer to the baseline. Improve 2nd serve pop.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga ~ Needs to learn when and when not to rip his forehand. Point construction. Needs to try and stay healthy for a full season!
Marcos Baghdatis ~ Fitness always a question. Stop getting lazy with mechanices. No confidence, no results. Needs to find a way to get that back.

That's just it, while BH is great and usually reliable, FH can be even more devastating, but he also overhits it far more often to the point that it ends up costing him matches or at least sets.

Gonzo: stop doing those stupid flying bh slices, go for your shots more like in De La Peńa's era and stop acting like a 5 years old kid when you lose an important point or the match gets tight and he starts to break racquets.

Massú: find a decent BH  or at least use the BH slice to recover some position in the court cause he always covers the BH side with his FH and he doesn't have the same footwork of 3-4 years back to cover all the court with only one shot (FH), get a fucking coach and recover your fighting spirit

My favourite players are only two. Federer and Davydenko.Nikolay: - less, less, less unforced errors. - More confidence in himself.Roger: - Nothing about game. But, less intelligence. It' a long discourse to tell...., but really Roger is too brainy; and too much intelligence don't help, believe me, is not all that necessary to play tennis! 'Cause he's wondering so many things. His brain is always "at work"! I'm sure of that....his glance is "talking". Better to have a "simply" mind, a "sporty" mind (for ex. Rafa) He's a nice boy, very good and kind, really "on the ball", very strong mind always "ready" to win, without to ask himself too many questions. But Roger is Roger....clearly impossible to change, and then....I love him just in the way he is....;);)

Roger - Loses to Murray too much. Sometimes goes mental with the UEs.

Janko - Loses to everyone too much.

Stan - Ditto.

Rafa - Won't let Fed win at RG. Took Wimbly from Fed. Takes ages to serve.

Nole - Invites his family to too many matches.

David - Is a bit crazy for half the year.

Safin: Play your last year like you mean it. Win a tournament for Pete's sake.

Gasquet: Keep staying aggressive on returns and please, please work on taking your forehand earlier without falling back every time you hit it. Also, stay tough in matches when you play clowns like Radek, who try to distract on every point.

Fed: Try to peak at majors. Forget about ranking and small events.

scoobs
01-12-2009, 10:02 PM
Fed - come in more - but please GOD work on your approach shots before you do - they're often atrocious and gobbled up by anyone paying attention.

Murray - stop going to sleep when serving for a set or match. When you blast through all your service games to 0 or 15 in a set then find yourself 0-30 down serving for it due to sloppy errors, you need to get the focus back. You will be punished for it in big matches if you don't get a grip on this. Stop making it harder on yourself.

Nadal - your crosscourt shots, especially off the forehand, often get a weak floating response. You should be looking to get to net much more often to pick these off from there to reduce the rally length more often.

Nadal: stop picking your ass, boy

Davydenko: No match fixing please

Roddick: Stop giving us false hopes of success by getting new coaches every other week

Gasquet: you helped Murray kickstart his career by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. How about you give your own career a kickstart

The most ironic thing is that each time he played(and beat)Murray before that Wimbledon match,he was always repeating that Murray would be a top 5 player but he was saying nothing about himself.....

Mario - I don't like the idea of his brother being his coach. What has he ever accomplished as a tennis coach? And Mario came back last year with a weirdly passive game, letting himself get caught up in long rallies and pushed behind the baseline...I suppose it was a confidence issue.

Jo - Needs to stop panicking when the opponent shows signs of a reaction. The ups and downs are pretty extreme.

Rafa - The OCD makes me nervous.

Nole - It's impossible to get *everyone* to like you - stop trying so hard. And someone needs to keep those suffocating parents away from his matches. Even I have trouble breathing when they're around, geez.

Nico Lapentti - Sometimes a quickie can be satisfying too, you know...

Federer - if you need to fix your hair every 2 seconds, it's time for a haircut. Oh, and hire a coach... please! (Mirka doesn't count!)

Blake - you can't learn a new language by only practicing it for 1-2 months then forgetting about it the rest of the year - work on clay and grass year round --- and stop moping!

Nalbandian - the tennis season starts in January, not October.

Safin - If you keep getting repeatedly called for foot faults, you might want to watch where you're putting your feet - all of those line judges and officials can't be wrong! And no, you can't use HawkEye to challenge your foot faults!!!

Tursunov - have you ever considered an anger management class?

Nalbandian - Stop underperforming when playing out in the fresh air or get permission to play outdoors in a space suit. Also, go on the Atkins diet.

Murray doesn't play the dropshot nearly as often now. And I don't believe Richie's insane leaping backhands go in 7 times out of 10. The regular backhands do (more often, in fact). Leaping backhands from 10 metres behind the baseline rarely end the point. My point is that Gasquet should create an opening, rather than trying to end the point with a Hollywood shot so often.

Federer has always talked too much with the journalists.

It's a professional fault.

Nadal is a true professional in that matter :

"If I play well, I will win, no ? But if he plays better, I will lose, no ? Small children should have something to eat, and players should play less not to get injured, no ?"

That's a great professional's language ! He could be hired by a communication company.

Arguings as complicated as what Federer said about Murray last year after Dubai are stupid to say with the journalists, as it can only generate misunderstandings and controversies,
as the journalists and the fans are very "basic", you know.
And journalists are rats by profession.

Only last year Federer understood a little bit that he had to protect from the journalists. But he still likes talking, talking ... it's not professional as they can hurt a lot.

Gasquet: please run around your forehand and stay closer to the baseline.

Tsonga: try to find motivation from another source than the crowd, it won't always be on fire for you.

Nalbandian: the season doesn't start just after Wimbledon.

Roddick: go for your shots, don't just stay in the rallies, your game is made to be an offensive baseliner, remember how you won your slam, and if you want to go to the net go after your first serve, not after your silly topspin approach shots.

Djokovic : for the tennis and the fans, you should criticize your parents and keep them away.
But anyway, stay yourself, that's the most important.

Tsonga : it would be better if you played more with your brain and less with your guts. Speak and listen less with the public and the journalists. But listen to your coach above all.

Nalbandian : it's a pity for the sport that you did not want to stay focused on it. But anyway do what you like.

Gasquet : be less sensitive about the public and expectations, they like you anyway.

Let's startt with the big guns:

Federer -- his nose is too big. Looks like he had tried boxing before tennis and failed. A trendy haircut can't compensate for this. And his South African accent is something to overcome.

Nadal -- too well educated. He's so fiery on the court, who if not him could deliver a McEnroe-style tantrum. But he doesn't. Safin aside, we haven't had a proper outburst in a long time.

Gulbis:

- do something about your conventional vollies
- do less ball-bashing
- don't overplay the BH dropshot, when it gets tight
- work upon your mental issues

Stepanek:

- although it doesn't bug me, a little less gamesmanship wouldn't hurt

Blake:

Great post ! Totally agree with this description ! :worship:

Nadal is a great guy, simple, innocent, brave and optimistic (what his uncle related about him when he was a child is absolutely incredible ! ), a great attitude for a sportsman.:hatoff::hatoff:

Unfortunately Gasquet is the exact opposite :smooch:

There was a thread here where people were prompted to say something nice about a player they hated.
Well, now I propose a new challenge, equally difficult. Name the things you don't like about your favorite player, those things that irritate you about him. Try to be honest.

Things I don't like about Djokovic

1) I hate it that he hardly ever challenges a bad call made against him. These days I have observed that he challenges very few if any. It irritates me to no end. Specially when it's so obvious that the ball was in and he doesn't bother to challenge. And then the TV repeat shows you that the point was in. I don't understand why he doesn't use it more often and it bugs me while I'm watching him.

2) I also get irritated by his ball bouncing. I know he bounces the ball much more when he's tight or trying to concentrate on an important point. I get really nervous watching it. And if he's playing Nadal, the other most irritating server on tour, sometimes i get exasperated. It must be annoying as hell to opponents.

3) I don't like it when he celebrates over the top. I genuinely enjoy his funny and eccentric side but sometimes he's over the top. I don't mind fist pumping, killer stare or dancing, but sometimes he becomes a madman and it's not pretty.

4) I don't like it when he praises Nadal and Federer too much. We have already heard a hundred times how are they the favorites in every tournament and the greatest players to play the game. One time is enough.

5) I hate his dropshots, they make me nervous and they always come at inappropriate times. Luckily he's using them sparingly nowadays and doesn't shank so many of them anymore.

And I guess that's it. I'm not such an unbiased fan after all.

Things I don't like about Murray

1) His fugly flop. Cut your hair Andy! He's actually handsome with very short hair.
2) I love the come ons, but I don't like his generally passive attitude on court, his moodiness sometimes is off-putting.
3) He's so dull in press conferences.
4) He gives up.
5) His slumps. It's irritating and disappointing that such a talented player gets in so many funks. Too many ups and downs.

Rafa - stop picking his ass, taking forever to serve, just speed up the play, have the balls to flatten out the FH on HC
Nole - stop showing so much respect for Roger and Rafa, cut out the endless ball bouncing
Delpo- taking forever to challenge
Muzza- stop acting like a spoilt brat when things are not going well during a match, his attitude during the Aus Open final was really worrying, he will never win a slam at this rate until he gets himself mentally sorted out

That's been commented twice. I wonder is that really true? I've only watch him doing that at the USO10 he won against Roger. I wasn't aware that he takes forever to challenge in every match.

Tsonga's clowness piss me off... He chokes so many times and his backhand works only if he wants (And he never wants).

Federer's desitions to "don't care" about some tournaments.

I have nothing to say about Ljubo... He is a good person, a good player. I really support him.

Karlovic "Volley fails". GOD... We have at least 1 per game.

I hate when David don't care about his fitness. (Almost always)

Rafa - pulling his pants out of his butt - disgusting habit
His boring press interviews - they're so predictable I rarely read them
his new-found audacity to negotiate a main draw entry for his under-qualified friend
using up his energy playing money-laden exhos instead of resting up for the tourneys that will further cement his place in history

Ferru - love-hate relationship with his grunt - it's unique, easy to reproduce, but annoying as hell to listen to point after point
His bad posture. Or is it scoliosis that went uncorrected?

Juanqui - frustrating to watch in his later years

Gonzo - always injured. Nothing else to say

Tommy R. - keeps his hair way too short. Now wears black spandex under his short shorts thereby depriving his female fans of some valuable upper thigh real estate

Dima - he's a better blogger than tennis player.

Tipsy -he's a better tweeter than tennis player

Hey, nice idea for a thread! :D

Okay, as I have quite a lot of guys to root for, I'll just comment on my gripes about my #1 and # 2 favs.

Federer:
- smug comments after losing whatever a match against, uhm, anyone - most notably, Berdych, Wimbledon 2010.
- Certain Wimbledon Outfits. Especially the 2009/2010-versions. Do I need to say more? Just bloddy TERRIBLE. :help:
- Mr. Feddie's Hawk Eye-challenging abilities. :o
- uhm uhm uhm, his commenting that he 'played well' against whomever, after losing a 6-4, 5-1-lead, or anything the like. Just tell me, buddy, Just WHO are you fooling, here? :silly: :help:

Nadal:
- time-wasting. sheezzzz.... :help:
- "Ah, I am so humble" - sure you are, wearing a 500K-watch during your matches...
- joining in on certain high-profile jeans' advertisements - Armani -, which are an obvious failure, if only to show that those jeans DO NOT FIT HIS BUM at all. :p
- Injury complaints, whenever he's on the brink of losing a match. Pfft! :help:

Stop it, the both of you, eh. :D
Never mind, I still love ya two. :hearts:

I really love the whole ATP tour. What really irrirates me is when certain players tank matches after losing a heartbreaking set, or being down a set and a break. Tipsarevic, Llodra, Serra, Starace, Hanescu, Gulbis, Chardy, Falla, Ball just a few names that come to mind when it comes to playing lackluster and emotionless in the face of adversity.

Gets easily frustrated yet makes no effort to improve, didn't listen to Darren Cahill telling him not to change racquets and not to play Nice and now look at the sorry state of his game. Also, poor sportsmanship. Has failed to shake the umpire's hand in most of his recent losses ever since Bangkok. Just :o

Novak sometimes swearing himself, someone in the stands, players across the net(Anderson last time). I don't like his smile in disbelief...burst of anger sometimes he can't stop.

His reaction after winning some important points are over the top, his eyes are full of desire to revenge, like a little devil stands deep inside in him, like old demons haunt him.

He is a villain and a saint, nothing between.

All that opposite sides of his personality is interesting to watch, he is only human, and don't hesitate to show that, unlike some other players.

I like a whole bunch of different players, but only a few I know well enough to comment.

Yen-Hsun Lu - His game can be too predictable. He's making way too many errors lately.

Kei Nishikori - He'll play silly shots more often than I like. Have lost a fair amount of matches which I think he should've won and not converting so many bps, dislike all these missed opportunities. I want to see him drive more bhs down the line!

Xavier Malisse / Dmitry Tursunov - Gets frustrated and carried away with calls against him which he thought was incorrect. His action seems immature sometimes.

Max Mirnyi - Great human being! (really can’t think of anything off-putting)

Juan Martin Del Potro – Lack of smiles, difficult to read because he doesn’t have much facial expressions.

Federer- Why are you so stubborn? Why do you play like an idiot, shanking your backhand left and right, trying to go for winners? try to actually prolonge the rallies and wait for UE's like faker and pusher do.

Raonic- You are 196. You are as tall as Berdych. WHY ARE YOUR GROUNDSTROKES SO UNSOLID? WHY DO YOU LACK A BACKHAND? But I guess he will learn in time to make the rallies shorter.

Karlovic- I understand that he is tall. He cant have a solid ground game since he cant move like the rest of the guys, you have to understand that. But one thing- WHY IS YOUR NET GAME HORRIBLE? You are 208CM tall. You take nearly half of the length between the lines. Use it. Also, more S&V. You hit a first serve and just stand at the baseline waiting for the return when you have 0 ground game?
