This was the last tournament of Bohdan Ulihrach (played qualifying where lost by retirement in 2nd round). Great player, reached a career high of 22 in singles, with 3 ATP titles, final in Masters Series (Challenger record in finals: 6 titles in 9 finals). Unfortunately his career was very damaged by a huge mistake of ATP - he was caught in doping test and later was cleared since it was ATP's fault to give him an isotonic with doping substances.
Bohdan is 34 years old and managed to be a top player for over a decade. :yeah:

Enjoy your life, Bohdan

In brief:

* Guillermo Alcaide came from Mexico 2 weeks ago and no got a flu and his parents are very scared (and so is everyone at the tournament... about their own health!)
* Bohdan Ulihrach retired.... as every year. See you at the Szczecin challenger quallie.
* Ivo Klec might have tanked his match as the Slovakian bookies called the tournament
* Kubot beat Baghdatis, the tournie director wasn't very happy. To be honest, he was very angry. And Baghdatis couldn't care less, yay for the attitude.

All credits for the information go to Maria

I almost went crazy, running out of the office to the court. Now everyone hates me, I was the only person cheering at Łukasz :tape: But let's say, he just destroyed him. Even came from 0-40 at his serve, that's just unreal considering Kubot's nerves...

Yeah, I think he also didn't expect such an easy win, when the people were congratulating him, he thanked them with almost scared expression on his face, like: "I won?"

Yeah, spelling is not my strongest part... I can read and speak, but I rarely write in Polish... Need to do something about it, maybe take some extra courses or whatever :D But Łukasz just showed me some perfect Czech which was actually better than mine :o so I don't have to.

Dodig is a very solid player with a nice serve and all court game. Not quite surprised with this result actually. Vanek is not playing so well at the moment, he almost lost to Vejmelka in the first round. Dodig 3:0 third set, keep it up :music:

Whatever Hajek played fell into the court. Nothing Łukasz could do really. The Polish umpire was comforting me in the office, putting his hand around my shoulders and saying "Takie jest życie!" I love this guy, I think... By the way, Łukasz was really angry and the code violation and ball abuse report the umpire had to fill in was pretty long, but I persuaded the supervisor not to give Łukasz any fines. I was like: "Michel, please, he didn't mean it... He didn't want to hit anyone, just the fence, Michel, please, please..." for twenty minutes, finally he was so tired of me he just threw the report somewhere and let it be. :haha:

Ah, this one  He is very nice. He was explaining me the rules of the violation codes for my article about the match between Zib and Koellerer. He used to date a hostess from Wrocław. I think he's the best Polish umpire, not only he very rarely makes mistakes, but also keeps players in check.

Tulipe

Hello, azza, haven't seen you since our beloved Alun Jones retired :wavey:

Peter plays well, but misses the final shots. I mean he's playing a long rally full of great shots, but finally sends the ball to the net or commits an unforced error. But he seems to be in a good form, though he still plays with two ankle supports.

And Nils informed me he'll be a father again, that's the greatest news... :inlove:

Hajek is amazing, I would pick this guy to make it to the finals every time even before the qualies if I would just pay attention the the QD. He success started in Morocco this year really. If he is young, he is really going to make a name for himself.

Hajek is not old age-wise, but is by no means new to the Tour. He had a great run in 2006, skyrocketing into the Top 100, and then he sucked so badly last year that he almost plummeted out of the Top 500 and had to play Futures. I don't know why, but he is very inconsistent. This year has been good for him so far though, and he is always dangerous on clay (but clay only, really).

He is submitted to injuries. That's why.

I remember he retired much the year you mentioned.

People made a lot of cash on his losses (gambling). He played some games , then retired and etc. I remember he had some heart problems and not only.
