EDIT-That's the famous port of Rhodes in the photo. There's fortresses and castles and windmills and a beach and deer statues a little over more. The building with the white dome is a famous nightclub, called ELLI.

News in Israel say that Dudi Sela is listed to play in Rhodes, and then moves on to play at home in Ramat Hasharon.

The list is not out yet, so we need to wait to see where Dudi will play, but he will probably play in the challenger in Israel.

Ramat Hasharon is the week after that, it's geographically close and the prizes are about the same. So I guess we can learn from this list about what we'll see in Israel the week after. Looks very promising - particularly if Pim-Pim is healthy and in shape.

On February 13, 2006 the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced Beck had tested positive for the beta agonist clenbuterol during the 2005 Davis Cup semifinal against Argentina. As a consequence, the ITF suspended him from the game for two years until October 31, 2007.

Sorry for the late answer.

Pierre lived at Rio de Janeiro for a while if I'm not mistaken, he used to practice there with the Brazilian guys a few years ago. I found his page at a Facebook-Like website and there were some cool pictures of him as a model.

The model pics are gone now, but here are a few ones still available there:

Dorsch def. Guccione 6-4 7-6

Both players dominated on serve, but the Gooch had a couple of slip ups on his own serve and got broken in his second serving game of the match. He was too passive on return and made a lot of defensive slices which did not get him anywhere on the opponent's serve. The match was short in rallies and went to the tie-break in the second set. Dorsch got a minibreak on the first point of the game and held on to it as his opponent looked lazy and uninterested under the Greek sun. :)

catatonia
04-28-2009, 10:39 AM
Yes, they are broadcasting it on Greek NovaSports 3 TV. Reynolds and Boggo are on now and the American is leading 4-2 in the first set. It is a pretty bad game if you ask me and Boggo is struggling with his first serve which is just killing him.

the sb is really messing around but certianly seems boggo is finding it tough. i heard its pretty windy out there?

catatonia
04-28-2009, 10:49 AM
Yes, from what I see the court is pretty open and unprotected to the wind and the umbrellas are waving a lot. Boggo saved 3 BPs at 2-4 and went on to win the game with some very nice one-handed backhands, but he looks in trouble in every service game when he does not find his first serve (which he usually does not find until he is 0-40 down). Another couple of break (set) points saved got him to 4-5.

6-4 and set to Reynolds who has no trouble on his own serve.

Bogdanovic def. Reynolds 4-6 6-3 6-4

The British player managed to make a good comeback after his serve improved a lot in the second part of the match. Reynolds dominated the first set and most of the second, but missed a number of break points. He had some pain in the knee (or at least it looked like it) at the end of the second set and he looked a bit hampered in his movement in the decider. However, all credit to Bogdanovic for finding his serve and making some spectacular top level one-handed backhands.

Bopanna de. Angelinos 6-1 6-2

Needless to say that Angelinos was totally outplayed in this match. Bopanna was spectacular to watch if you (like me) enjoy serve and volley tennis. He was dominant on serve as the Greek player could not handle the returns and looked like a beginner when receiving. Bopanna applied pressure on the return and got what he needed - a fast victory and some confidence in his mind.

Becker def. Dimitrov 6-2 6-3

Becker played a solid match and was never in trouble. He was not touched on serve except for the last game of the first set when he served 3 DFs, but managed to hold. Dimitrov was too shaky on serve to be competitive and tried some ambitious shots that did not produce. The Bulgarian had 15 winners and 43 UEs while Becker recorded 11 winners and 23 UEs. Overall, a fast and error-hit match, but the Bulgarian has some work to do before getting in line with the big boys.

Elgin lost this match himself. He looked in control in the first set serving well and keeping the ball in play enough to get errors from his opponent. However, he got frustrated with himself after some errors at the start of the second set and that was the end of him. He was totally out of sorts after that and could not make a winner to save his life. Therefore he contained himself to putting the ball back and seemed to be afraid of getting some power in his strokes. Amritraj had some nice serves and net rushes, but he is a pretty limited player in terms of ball exchanges and he was gifted the match by his opponent.

boggo 3-2 up on serve. if boggo can get his serve working he should be able to win this, but it seems to have gone walkabouts in sets 2 & 3.

Ah, Dorsch cant get revenge on Becker from Baton Rouge. Becker, Dorsch, Amritraj, Ram are having great years, especially Becker, this guy is on fire. Looks like Reynolds, Somdev, Gooch, Kim are having slumps. Stadler is also turning things around big time after bad start of 2009, beating Ram is a great win for him, especially the way Ram has been playing. GL to Becker, looks like he is going to tear up challengers this year. Unstoppable

Becker def. Stadler 7-5 6-3

Becker got his second Challenger title in a row in sunny Rhodes. He played better all through the final match and was never in danger. He counted on his solid serve and baseline game while Stadler countered with good leftie serve and attack at the net. Both had some trouble getting through their first serving game, but held eventually and it all went with serve in the opening set. Becker was more convincing, but Stadler also did well despite facing some break points. Becker made his break at 6-5 when he applied pressure on his opponent and lead 0-15, 15-30 and 30-40 to take the decisive break and win the set. He looked much better in the second set as his confidence shoot up while Stadler looked doomed as he had no idea how to break his opponent. Becker immediately started to press and missed three break points at 3-2. Stadler served very well on all three chances and mixed up wide serves with serves down the line and Becker had no chance to put the ball in play on his break points. He took his serving game fast and then once again forced a break point at 4-3 which he finally managed to take after getting the return in court. It was all over at that point and Becker took his serve to love to claim the title. He was the deserved winner and champion as he won 80 points in the match, compared to 58 for Stadler. He was also looking for winners and made 32 of them (and 44 errors) while Stadler was passive overall and got just the modest 10 winners and 41 errors. Congratulations to Becker and his fans!!! :wavey:

No problemo, it was a good match after all. I might be biased, but Grisha has had some tough draws recently as both Darcis and Becker did pretty well in Sofia and Rhodes. Ah, well, it is all luck and part of the game... :wavey:
