Wow, you have got to be kidding me! This is going to take up all of my favorite challenger players, like SPADEA away from Houston. Is there a site to tell which players have entered this tournament so far?

Dang Greg that is pretty unlucky. Its also bad because it would be a great tourney to watch but you cant watch 2 at once. Bad scheduling from the ATP or whomever does the challengers. There probably wont be a lot of Kendrick's, Young's, maybe even Vince wont show in Houston. Sorry Greg:(

Blame USTA, not ATP I guess :p

Greg, go to the link in first post (tournament website) and try to contact them and ask which players are expected to show up :)

Thanks for the idea. I talked to the tournament director who said that most of the players that played in Dallas will come. She also said most likely Delic and Reynoldes will play here. Possibility for Taylor Dent. When I asked her about Spadea she said se would love to have him come () but she had not heard at all from him. VINCE COME TO HOUSTON!!! :wavey::wavey::wavey:

It's not bad scheduling. Obviously those that are serious about preparing for RG will go to Houston, but those that don't will play in Baton Rouge. Since many US players don't venture off to Paris for RG Qualies, you will find only a slightly weaker version of your average US hardcourt Challenger here, I'd guess.

This is who I remember from last year:

Delic (so NICE!)
Sweeting
Reynolds
Kunitsyn (also nice :) )
Bogdanovic
Dorsch
Harrison
Jenkins
Ouanna

------------

Reynolds won

navy75

I was there last year, and off the top of my head can remember seeing:

Kendrick
Reynolds
Warburg
Kevin Kim
Jenkins
Gregorc
Sweeting
Brendan Evans
Bloomfield
Bogdanovic
Bjorn Rehnquist
Benjamin Becker
J. Ouanna
G. Lugassy
A. Kuznetsov
Martin Fischer
Igor Kunitsyn (lost in finals to Reynolds)
Van Der Merwe
A. Juska
Thiago Alves
M. Yani

I believe the wild cards were Ryan Harrison, Ryan Sweeting, and Jesse Witten, but don't quote me on that. I can remember Sweeting screaming out "These are the worst courts I've ever played on in my life," which organizers were really offended by considering he had received a wildcard, lol. Bear in mind these are REALLY slow hard courts, which is actually my favorite surface to watch. It was also weird sitting on the same bleachers as Brad Gilbert there watching Bogdanovic in the final round of qualifying!

This is one of the better run events I went to last year, and I imagine it will continue to get better. Cheers!

Yeah, i think Alex lost 1st rd last year to Smeets, i think he felt under a lot of pressure having Brad with him to be honest. Also I know he struggles in high humidity so hopefully it will still eb cool. After he lost in jersey he flew straight to Florida to try and get some hard court training in and a bit of acclimatisation done, not so easy to train outside in London in the spring! although the weather is a bit better than usual for this time of year.

Did Groth pull out?

Doesn't look like it, he is playing Daniel Yoo on the Order Of Play tommorow and he beat him last week in a future tournament in round 1. Although it was 3 sets and Groth should be pretty tired from his future win. But I think he can do it, Good to see Matosevic and Ball get through as well. I think Marinko Matosevic is a big chance to make semifinals.

 I saw the Yoo def Mamitt score and thought they must have made him play the day after the futures tournament which would have been silly of the organizers. Obviously it must be a mistake if their match is on the OOP for tomorrow.

Matosevic is in one of the easier quarters. The middle two look strong but the other two look wide open. Ball vs Becker should be a good match.

Rajeev played some great tennis. Neither player had lost a set coming into the final. Benji brakes out of his minor slumpish thing, Rajeev is looking very dangerous. Interesnting to see how Rajeev does.
