Great performance. Verdasco was crunching winners from all over the court.
Brisbane SF: Verdasco def Mathieu 6-2 6-1FairWeatherFan 01-10-2009, 01:32 AM Great performance. Verdasco was crunching winners from all over the court. L James 01-10-2009, 01:36 AM What an animal. That was a clinic he put on out there. Mathieu was fighting until the end but Verdasco on another level. Nice Rafa-like fist pump to finish too  Action Jackson 01-10-2009, 01:38 AM High quality performance where everything was hitting the sweetspot, this will probably mean Verdasco will be awful in the final. Albop 01-10-2009, 01:39 AM Out standing performance from Verdasco. He has some of my respect after the DC final :p Mathieu the mental midget Strikes again  HeretiC 01-10-2009, 01:40 AM Magnificent performance from Nando, it was his best or near his best play. Ripping winners from every position, hitting ridiculously strong and hard and still painting the lines. He is simply brooming with confidence at the moment. Maybe this is Ana's "fault"? PHM did not played badly at all(apart from getting frustrated a bit at the end), but there was nothing he could have done. bad gambler 01-10-2009, 01:43 AM Best I have seen Verdasco play in a while, good job GlennMirnyi 01-10-2009, 01:46 AM 4 words: WTA match. WTA score. Voo de Mar 01-10-2009, 01:48 AM Nando :yeah: I like the easiness his strokes from both sides :) Mathieu was crashed. federernadalfan 01-10-2009, 01:49 AM surprising scoreline verdasco will lose to gasquet in the finals aussie_fan 01-10-2009, 01:51 AM If Nando keeps playing like that  Hitting everything so sweetly, no way Mathieu was able to do anything, match didn't suit him at all. Voo de Mar 01-10-2009, 02:01 AM surprising scoreline verdasco will lose to gasquet in the finals Gasquet has just begun his match against Stepanek, I see you don't appreciate the Sexy :p Dini 01-10-2009, 02:03 AM Well done Nando :D...as much as I like PHM it was all Verdasco today. Amazing shot making and I really enjoyed watching the match. If his form will continue on the rise like that, then he has two people to thank Ferrer for losing his form dramatically and Nadal for being injured, giving him a chance to really test himself and come through that DC match. Maybe that Davis Cup win was the start of a more consistent and aggressive Nando. PinkFeatherBoa 01-10-2009, 02:07 AM I'd have much prefered a PHM victory but good on Nando, nice to see him in good form. :yeah: finishingmove 01-10-2009, 02:08 AM High quality performance where everything was hitting the sweetspot, this will probably mean Verdasco will be awful in the final. hope not. Rumour 01-10-2009, 02:16 AM Verdasco was simply too good for Mathieu and played the ultimate ballbashing game  The one where he whacks the life out of the ball - and his opponent - while virtually every shot lands just inside or on the lines. PHM did try to put up a fight but simply didn't have the weapons to negate the Spaniard's power and, to paraphrase a well known sci-fi TV quote, resistance was futile (even if he wasn't assimilated - but he does speak Spanish doesn't he? so maybe the process is already underway :scared: ). Xristos 01-10-2009, 02:28 AM Expected. I told y'all Verdasco was gana win this tournament. Rrrainer 01-10-2009, 02:31 AM verdasco didn't even let mathieu get to the point where choking might play a role. :D seriously, i've never seen the spaniard play better tennis. when his forehand is on it's a dangerous weapon, easily top-10-stuff. i haven't watched a complete match of him for some time, has his backhand improved over the last year? seems really solid these days whereas back in the days that was (still is, but not that much anymore) the weak part of his game many players exploited. Ivanatis 01-10-2009, 02:32 AM Ana flirting with that golf player doesn't seem to bother him. Leo 01-10-2009, 02:35 AM Verdasco has really come far in the last year! Knocking on the door of the Top 10 these days. He played pretty perfect today, but it will be a test of his mental strength to keep up the form in tomorrow's final. But I like that Verdasco has proven you can mature and grow as a player with age. He always had the talent, just not the head or the confidence. He's played some really shitty tennis in his career. But the tennis over these last 52 weeks has been consistently less shitty, and at times (like today) fantastic, so good for him. :D I hope he keeps improving because he's a nice guy and a nice-looking guy. Leo 01-10-2009, 02:38 AM Ana flirting with that golf player doesn't seem to bother him. What did she do??? Oh, my, the little slut. :p I don't like that this hot new tennis couple has led to Ana playing miserable tennis and Verdy playing wonderful tennis. I need Ana to get back the form she had when she was single! JolánGagó 01-10-2009, 02:54 AM f*ck I couldn't watch it. Go for it Nando! :yeah: roberthenman 01-10-2009, 03:46 AM amazing verdasco ChinoRios4Ever 01-10-2009, 04:11 AM i will buy Verdasco when he goes deep in a GS or Masters 1000 Leo 01-10-2009, 04:27 AM i will buy Verdasco when he goes deep in a GS or Masters 1000 Oh no, please don't use that term. Let's fight back against Mr. Disney and still call them TMSes. :p Mateya 01-10-2009, 08:42 AM Incredible, almost unreal performance by Nando. :worship: PHM very rarely gets beaten like this. Some irrelevant stats: -PHM worst loss of 2008 was 2-6 2-6 to Murray in Marseille. -in 2007 won at least 5 games when losing. -in 2006 won at least 4 games when losing. (3 and 1 to Djoker) So this is a reeaaaally amazing defeat. Time for PHM to get one hot babe for a couple of weeks, in order to play tennis like this. :) FedererBulgaria 01-10-2009, 08:48 AM Great performance!:eek:I watched this match and Verdasco was awesome!:worship: Jimnik 01-10-2009, 09:40 AM Has the Davis Cup final really turned it around for Verdasco? Björki 01-10-2009, 09:43 AM Fer :bigclap: StanShapkar 01-10-2009, 09:44 AM Ana,Ana what have you done to Nando..... Sommarsverige 01-10-2009, 09:51 AM Big, big congrats to Fer :bigclap: :bounce: Couldn´t see the match, but I am really looking forward to the final :) Vamos Fer :worship: Deivid23 01-10-2009, 10:35 AM Good shit Fer, hope it´s not a tease, cause playing like this you´ll have easily your best season ever Venle 01-10-2009, 12:01 PM Vamos Nando :yeah: Byrd 01-10-2009, 12:58 PM Davis Cup hero Verdasco beat Mathieu in just 78 minutes, winning 11 games in a row after trailing 2-0 early in the first set, despite having his concentration momentarily broken by a female fan who asked him to marry her. "I just told her that it is not the moment right now," he joked. "I am focusing on tennis. Maybe if I get married it is worse (distraction). I told her that I need time." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/7821696.stm Was ivanovic in the crowd? ChinoRios4Ever 01-10-2009, 04:12 PM Oh no, please don't use that term. Let's fight back against Mr. Disney and still call them TMSes. :p I don't like it too, but we can't do nothing about it. Arkulari 01-10-2009, 04:28 PM DC did Nando a lot of good, a lot of confidence out there ;) | |
