Didn't look like Lleyton was at 100% out there, but a good, encouraging performance from James nonetheless. :yeah:

I found it kind of surprising James has the most wins in the history of the Hopman Cup, at 22.

Hewitt hasn't been humiliated in this style through 12 years since he has been playing in Australian tournaments (Adelaide, Sydeny, Melbourne, Perth).
I didn't see Blake's first match but after what I saw in his matches against Kiefer and Hewitt it's tough to imagine how he could've lost to Hrbaty.
I've got an impression that Blake improved his serve -> better percentage, better variation (hasn't lost a service game in the last 7 sets, facing just 3 BP's), moreover he's very confident on the baseline and at the net, placing the balls in all directions. Against Hewitt he even won the balls in the way he usually doesn't: tight backhand-cross winner after high bounce of the ball, left-handed lob (!), reverse-forehand dropshot.

Blake has defeated Hewitt for the 4th time but on atptennis.com still will be figurating only one win because he won twice in Hopman Cup and once in their very first meeting in a junior tournament.

It's his 5th edition (2000, 03-05, 09) but according to my stats he has won 21 not 22 matches there.

Blake is a Hopman Cup Hero. He will go down in Hopman Cup history with such legends such as Wayne Ferreira, Emilio Sanchez, Karol Kucera, Xavier Malisse and Mark Philippoussis :yeah:

The legend has just won 23rd match in Hopman Cup (11 singles, 12 mixed doubles) :rocker2:

Blake/Shaughnessy def. Hewitt/Dellacqua 6-3 5-7 [10-6]

He should enter Perth's hall of fame someday ;)

Hewitt was flat today and when that happens Blake can just outpower him.

Im suprised it hasn't happened more often. Hewitt is often over powered with players with big ground strokes but he's always had a mental edge over Blake for some reason. Anyway he's had 3 matches to get into the groove of things hopefully he can build on things as the month continues.

Hewitt is done, and have been for a long time.

Terrific result given the alleged history between the two players. Objectively the final was out of reach for Australia, so I think Hewitt tanked the match like a white supremacist at a Kentucky Fried Chicken picnic.

This is very bad. I feel sorry for Hewitt. I just wonder what goes through his mind. It must be frustrating because he lacks the power to cope with the new generation of tennis.

great win for Mr. Exho. It would be nice to see the money-grabbing tool get his comeuppance and get gubbed first round in Melbourne.
