Davydenko out of Australian Open!Vin Judah 01-07-2009, 12:54 PM  problem with his heel obviously wo against dlouhy in chennai also... Action Jackson 01-07-2009, 12:54 PM http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tennis/7815843.stm Davydenko out of Australian Open World number five Nikolay Davydenko will miss this month's Australian Open because of a heel injury. The Russian pulled out of his match against Lukas Dlouhy at the warm-up event in Chennai, India, on Wednesday after the problem flared up. "It's obviously serious since I'll even miss the Australian Open," he said. Davydenko reached the Masters Cup final in November, beating Andy Murray in the semis, and would have been among the favourites in Melbourne. "I'm having acute pain in my left heel that flared up last week," the Russian added. "I've had painkillers even today, and the doctors here in Chennai have tried some therapy for a few days, but I now need to fix this before playing any more tournaments. "I need to check my heel and that's why I'm going home, to see what's happening and what's wrong. "The problem started last year, but I thought I could still continue playing. It was (painful) even when I played the Shanghai Masters in November." Naranoc 01-07-2009, 12:55 PM Unlucky :( Hope he gets better soon. Crazy Girl 01-07-2009, 05:08 PM This is karma paying him back for his greediness, his nasty comments about other players and his dumb comments about small "meaningless" tournaments. Your Nikolay is not so innocent and good. :ras: :nerner:Dear Tangerine (not ironic, believe me)I don't know all this things. I don't believe....I hope you're not right; but I rest on my idea: anyone his the right to stay in health......Niko, me, you, everybody... See tangerine, I'm not able to hate anyone.....hate is just loss time. I'm always ready to speak so.....friendly. Ciao from Florence.:) Leo 01-07-2009, 05:11 PM OH NO! I'm shocked. Had no idea he had a problem with his heel. This is obviously disappointing for many reasons. In terms of rankings, he only made the R16 last year and had points to gain. And I'm also waiting for him to win that first Grand Slam, and I imagine it would come on hard courts either in Melbourne or New York. This is a sad missed opportunity considering how well he played in Shanghai last fall and how open this AO field could be in 2009 with Fed, Nadal, and Djok all very beatable... still no GS QFs reached for Nikolay since USO '07, and that's so surprising. Get better Nikolay, and I hope we can see you again soon. Leo 01-07-2009, 05:13 PM No big loss. Davydenko doesn't perform well at slams anyway, he'll peak at Poertschach. Which is why he usually plays his best in New York at the US Open, right? In 2007 before meeting Fed in the semis, Davydenko was breaking serve about 2/3 of the time in this tournament. That is an unheard of statistic. New York is not Poertscach. Garson007 01-07-2009, 06:16 PM Sad to see him pull out. Be ready for FO! :yeah: reggie1 01-07-2009, 07:00 PM Anyway, enough about Dav,:o more importantly, how are you Crazy Girl? :smooch::hug: No more tears please. It's not good for you :D BaselineSmash 01-07-2009, 07:11 PM I don't know that the tournament will miss the Russian. Davydenko is one of the most underrated players of the Open Era, but his best Slam performances seem to be behind him on 2008's evidence. That loss to Ljubicic at the French, from two sets up, was the pits. Black Adam 01-07-2009, 08:50 PM Good ridance. Karma caught up with the Fixer. :yeah: Johnny Groove 01-07-2009, 08:52 PM Karma caught with the Fixer. :yeah: Change "karma" to "playing over 30 events a year" and then you'll be spot on Crazy Girl 01-07-2009, 08:55 PM Good ridance. Crazy Girl 01-07-2009, 09:13 PM Anyway, enough about Dav,:o more importantly, how are you Crazy Girl? :smooch::hug: No more tears please. It's not good for you :DDear reggie, now is already 11 p.m. and I'm very tired: above all I'm very tired to read all this shit. It's seems to me impossible to see how many imbeciles are in this forum. I was looking for you in the afternoon, but I haven't found you....:sad::sad: Listen, reggie, but how come Niko is so categorical in that......after all there are so many days to Australian Open.....Can you help me? Do you know a little bit....than me?If I would have, always, an ironic way to say things, I should say......Achille's heel.....Ciao Reggie.....:sad::sad::sad: Johnny Groove 01-07-2009, 10:26 PM Crazy Girl  DavidW 01-07-2009, 11:21 PM Sucks that Davydenko is out of the first Slam of the year. It's sad whenever a Seed has to withdraw. The heel must be really bothering him though. I didn't think it was anything serious. All the best to him though. Hugh Jaas 01-08-2009, 05:04 AM No big loss.
