I had a feeling Kei's slightly unorthodox game would give Berdych the yips, and so it proved.

I love this kid and his game. Shame on Tomas for not being able to serve out the first set though.

Pathetic Berdych. Serving for the 1st set at 5-4 and choking

Berdych stilll hasn't learned not to go for winners all the time from returns after how many years on the tour....

Incredible win for Nishikori. Thundering strokes especially the forehand, can see considerable improvement throughout the whole course in comparison to his previous year. The Birdpoo though on the other hand seems to be happy to stay where he is. There is a huge weakness in his game that badly needs to be improved but he doesn't seem to see it himself.

Kei has the heart for this game, hope he goes far. And he likes manga, sushi and taking photos, never in doubt.

Nishikori won this without a backhand. I only saw bits and pieces but every 2nd shot off the wing went a yard out or hit the bottom of the net

he showed great attitude in the first set breaker though. serving with a 4-2 lead berdych hit a yorker return straight to his feet that was called out. the ump overruled it and kei lost his mb. most players would have argued for hours but nish just got on with it. it was a dreadful breaker from both players overall though.

Kei :yeah:

Berdych has still a long way to go to be near the level of play when he was a top 10 player

Good win for Kei, I thought Berdych would have too much firepower for him but he sees to have handled it well. His backhand will need to hold up against Mathieu, hope he gets it sorted out.

Berdych should retire now. With all that talent, he has gone backwards in the past two years.. He and Safarova both.

Oh well,at least he managed to win a Master Serie.....:o

This is pathetic even for Berdych, whose level for pathetic matches is pretty low already.

Oh for god's sake give it a rest. Seriously what is up with you that you feel the need to mention Gasquet in every single sentence, no matter what the thread subject is.

Plus Richard will win the AO this year, I have faith.

It's not a shameful loss by any means but ...

I was very impressed by Kei who has considerably improved since US Open when he beat Ferrer. Except his back hand. I'm sure it will come back. His style is quick, offensive, dynamic and unconventional. Thanks for rooting Kei. Japanese fans are crazy excited like I am.
