My Australian Open and Brisbane reports

Hi everyone,

I have also been blogging from the Australian Open - I will be there for the first six days. Except this time, instead of it being on my own blog, it has been posted on Tennis Week. I've finished writing Tuesday's blog so it should be up sometime today I guess.

http://blog.tennisweek.com/

---------------------
I will be blogging the matches from Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

I forgot to bring my camera yesterday so I'll try to do that today. Then I will post those here, and not on my blog.

I wrote it in a format that makes it difficult to post it as an article on particular websites which sucks.

Tuesday's report:

Wednesday's report:

Saturday's report:

A good read, seeing as I hadn't read a lot about the results just yet. Did you go yesterday? Who do you think will win the tournament? It must cost a fortune going every day surely!

Thanks :) I enjoyed your blogging :yeah:

It does cost a bloody fortune, about $60-70 each day. It could be worse though, in other countries.

I have yet to see Gasquet, Tsonga or Soderling play so it's hard to figure out who will win, two of which I won't end up seeing given that they played their second round matches already yesterday.

Thanks very much for your report. It was great for me to read about how Ferrero performed especially. I hope you had fun:)

enjoyable read... its much better reading something like this than something that has been clipped and dumbed down for the masses...

thanks to a deletion my post makes absolutely no sense now but yeah props krystel

they must be making a killing at those prices. the stands have been pretty full whenever I've tuned in.

Yeah it has been a really good turn-out. I normally wouldn't expect that much of a crowd on the first few days, but there has been a lot. I heard on the first Sunday, there were around 8,000 spectators which is very much considering that the stadium holds around 5,000 I think and that there weren't that many first round matches at all that day, mainly qualifying. But it must be said that tickets were cheaper that day for that reason. Obviously on working days, that figure would be somewhat less, but it was still good.

Anyway, my second post doesn't make much sense either due to the deletion.

good read, thanks. :)

you should've asked some news outlets (papers, sports magazines etc.) to write for them, seeing that you're obviously not a newbie to writing they'd have integrated your blog into their homepages.

Very well-written, thanks for that.

And I am kind of sad to see Klein indeed proved to be a wrong choice of WC (OK, you didn't put it down in so many words, but he clearly did not live up to the WC; Sirianni seemed to do a lot better, and while having qualified).

Wednesday's report is now up.
http://tennis-brain.blogspot.com/2009/01/recounting-wednesday-tsonga-wins.html

I really wanted to put some pictures on there to break it up by each match, and make it not appear as long but Blogspot is having technical errors and I don't have any time to do it until I get home later today.

There is some WTA on there this time, yeah I didn't have much interest writing about it that much myself either aside from Mauresmo who I like.

Wow that's some hiqh quality reporting, it really gives insight on the matches reported on, particularly why one player won and the other lost.

Thanks - like your observations and nicely-written too. Puts most of our media in the shade - someone should snap you up quick.

Some pictures from Wednesday. Most of them turned out bad (I hardly have used a camera before) and I couldn't turn off the flash so none of Stepanek and Llodra.

That's Melzer, Serra, Tsonga and Nieminen.

I don't think these reports fit in well with those, mainly because of the length of it - it's far too long and also comments about things like the crowd would need to be removed. Anyway, I don't have any connections, aside from a couple of small websites that will let me write on there, unpaid.

Mauresmo won final TB 13-11 not 14-12 :wavey:
I've just fixed this, thanks.

Did you watch the Dokic match?
I only watched the first set and a bit on TV - I thought Dokic's ball-striking and groundstrokes were far better than expected, but her serve let her down so much, pretty much as soon as she got into a leading position.

Monday's Australian Open blog is now up. Instead of putting it on my blog, this time I managed to get it published on the Tennis Week website. :yeah:

I've sent in Tuesday's entry as well so I guess it will be up sometime later today.

it's pleasant that your English-writing is quite easy to understand for a not native-English speaker :yeah:

very clear and not many idioms as some others do.

Thanks a lot and good and very interesting reports ! :bigclap:
