I'd like to know a bit about everybody Juanqui plays. In the first round Cincinnati he's going to be playing Arnaud Clement. What type of surface is clement best at? Is clement in top form and will juanqui beat him? Any other information about him would also be useful. The head to head is 0-1 to clement. He beat him at cincinnati 2000 in the round of 64 4-6 2-6

About Arnaud Clement I only know that he played the longest match in the world with Fabrice Santoro at RG and I think he lost it but I'm not sure.

If he passes through Clement, he is likely to meet Taylor Dent - a player whom he lost last year in Bangkok finals.

Right now, we have to go one match at a time with Juan Carlos.

I watched that Bangkok Final and was sooo sad.... He got through Ljubicic and then lost to Dent in the final...
Well, I hope Juanqui plays cincinnati injury-free....

yes, I was at that final in Bangkok and Dent was just unstoppable...I think JC was also very tired as he'd had tough matches the whole week. That's assuming he plays Dent in the second round...Taylor had to pull out of Toronto this week with a strained right calf injury and he has to play Tommy Robredo first round in Cinci so who knows...just hope Juanqui can win a match for once...it would do wonders for his confidence...Clément won't be that easy...we know he can play well on hard courts (Aus Open finalist 2001) and also that he can keep going and going and going (Aus Open semi final 2001 against Grosjean and RG first round 2004 against Fabrice Santoro)...so let's see...mucha suerte Juanqui!

Clement is tough, he's a bit like Santoro, a bit of variety in his game, and sure he can play very well, but pretty inconsistent.

i think clement favors more faster surfaces (i think some commentator on tv said that once) and he has alot of variety in his game but if ferrero is injury free, then i think he'll be able to win

i think clements been injured too... (they were talkin about it on tv)

Clement has not been very consistent on hard courts this year. He lost to Federer, Ancic, Ljubicic....( Johansson I think )

We don't have to worry about Clement, if JC is fit he can beat EVERY player, remember? OK, and he needs some confidence right now ...

~EMiLiTA~
08-01-2004, 12:54 PM
agreed that if Juanqui's fit, he can beat pretty much anyone on the day...especially Clément...but the question is, is he fit? fingers crossed!!!

As long as Juan Carlos is fit (I hope that the injury causing him to retire in Toronto isn't too big) there will definetly be no problem.

And Taylor Dent is a loser. Period.

juanqui is just the best!!! by the way holagirl56 i adore your signature

ok, tommy robredo is his next opponent. the head to head is 1-1 the last time they played robredo won in 5 sets, but that was in 2001. Who do you think will win this match and as before any information on tommy would be great also

I♥PsY@Mus!c
08-04-2004, 08:29 AM
Well, don't know who will win, seems they are almost at the same level,no one leads the head to head results, also they haven't met so long!!!It should be a tough and cruel match for both!!!

~EMiLiTA~
08-04-2004, 11:04 AM
well I think Tommy will be a tough opponent for Juanqui, though if Juanqui is fully fit he definitely has a chance. The thing with Tommy is that he's usually pretty consistent and very tenacious so you cannot give him any chances because he usually takes them...but if he's overpowered or simply outplayed (which does tend to happen sometimes) then he's very beatable...it'll be a long match I'd say and just hope Juanqui can last the distance! It's great for him that he won his first round though!

if he beats Robredo then he'll play Gaudio or Rusedski! But he has to WIN 1st!

Lynne
08-04-2004, 04:51 PM
Yup, we have to take it one at a time for now....

:yeah: True! I guess I was a bit overwhelmed at that time of the day lol !

Hmm, I felt Tommy is a better opponent than big serving Taylor Dent. I thought Juanqui will come through in 3 sets. :(

~EMiLiTA~
08-05-2004, 11:41 AM
well it was a tough match by the looks for things and apparently there was a rain delay at 2-3 to Juanqui in the 3rd set with Tommy serving. I guess Tommy just played better in the end...and Juanqui's lack of match practice wouldn't have helped. I expected this result, but I'm happy to see that JC is getting back his game and able to finish matches and be competitive again...I wish him well for the Olympics!!!

ok, now i need to know some info about Hicham Arazi. Their head to head is 4-2, JC is winning the head to head. I know absoultely nothing about this guy so any information would be good

Lalitha
08-12-2004, 12:32 PM
They both played in this years AO quarterfinals. I skipped my office to watch that match ;) Ferrero was suffering from his thigh injuries but some how managed to come through in straight sets.

I don't know what to say more than this. It all depends on JC - his health.

Ferrero Forever
08-12-2004, 12:46 PM
i think he'll be in good form, i hope i'm not wrong

~EMiLiTA~
08-12-2004, 01:57 PM
I was actually at that match this year between JC and Hicham...and despite JC's injury, he played really well against an opponent who was also playing very well at the time. Hicham can sometimes be a dark horse but he's usually pretty inconsistent...as Lalitha said, it pretty much boils down to whether JC is fully fit or not...and if he is, I think he has a great chance of winning! VAMOS JUANQUI!!!

Sharon
08-12-2004, 02:39 PM
arazis like a crafty player when i saw him on TV (i guess maybe like clement sorta) and hes inconsistent too so if JC if healthy then he'll win VAMOS! :bounce:

I think JC should win

Crazy_Fool
08-12-2004, 10:34 PM
Yeh, Jc should win if he's at his best or even 80%. So true Lathlia about the AO QF - he was struggling but still won easily :worship: :worship:

Arazi is quite tough, but i feel confident that JC can go far in this tournament....

Iza
08-13-2004, 10:13 AM
Arazi  He is a tough guy! If I'm not wrong he won a set w/Federer recently! But yeah, he is incosistent so if JC is fit, he should beat him, tho not 6-0 6-1. I think it's gonna be a hard match, but JC has more class than Hicham.

Iza
08-13-2004, 10:21 AM
ok, now i need to know some info about Hicham Arazi. Their head to head is 4-2, JC is winning the head to head. I know absoultely nothing about this guy so any information would be good

he is 31 years old tho he looks much younger, he is left-handed, he has won 1 career title (in Casablanca in 1997) comparing to JC's 11 and about their head to head meetings:

Juanqui has won 4 as you said: 2 on clay in 2000 (Rome and Monte Carlo 1st round), another one on clay in 2002 Davis Cup and one on hard court in AO QF in 2004.
Hicham has won 2: both in 2001, one match in Cincinnati TMS in 1st Round on hardcourt and the other on carpet in Paris TMS in the 2nd round.

Tennis matches begins on 15th, I believe. Vamos Juanqui!

Coming back to that Arazi match at this years AO, Juanqui did a cute thing. He never allowed Arazi to see him suffering. If he felt pain, he would just turn his back to Arazi and never let him see his frowned face.

JuanChuffy007

JC will win, I'm sure he'll win.

Arazi might me good, but JC is great :D. VAMOS JC!

Arazi seems tough.... but I don't think he played really well this year???? I donno but I hope Juanqui will win!!

Fish is tough...he has a big serve, and we know what problems JC has with big servers

plum_juice10

Fish will have an even faster serve because they are on a fast court. :s Hope JC can prevail...vamos Juanqui!!!

Fish is tough...he has a big serve, and we know what problems JC has with big servers

Absolutely right. I hope this win against Arazi makes him confident. 6-3, 6-1 is a very good score against Arazi with the state Juancho is in.

4-6, 7-6, 6-4.....Close match ..... Well, at least Juanqui is slowly finding his rhythm on court..... :bounce:

Lalitha
08-18-2004, 10:25 AM
Actually Juan was serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set and then double-faulted twice :(

But good news is he is making a good comeback :)

Ferrero Forever
08-18-2004, 10:30 AM
yes, i'm very happy with his performance. I personally found when he lost to koubek at Gstaad worse than when he lost the olympics

Lalitha
08-18-2004, 10:37 AM
I agree with you Mary - That was a bad performance against Koubek. But this was a better opponent and better match.
