Andy sux !

KarstenBraasch#1

In the past I have defended Andy, but now he gets increasingly annoying with every match.

First of all, these are early rounds ! Why does he act that it's already the final. With wins over Verkerk or Sluiter you can impress nobody. Or after match-point against Alex: what was that ?
Also why is he grunting so loud sometimes ? It seems that he only does that to show what an enormous effort he's putting in and that he's the hardest fighter.
And have you noticed his 'hand-shakes' ? He doesn't look at the opponent, instead he bows his head down somehow. I can't explain it properly, but it looks damn annoying.

Yes, he is a drama queen.
And yes, I hope that someone will trounce him badly, and please pretty soon !

Back to the topic:rolleyes:;), roddick does suck.......it's amazing that Alex playing his worst tennis still got close in the match....what helped roddick? His serve of course. Would he even be in the top 50 without his serve?

Well men's tennis is 70% about serve, and it's the same for all players, so it's irrelevant what his ranking would be without his serve. Right now he is in the top 10 and if he sucks so much as some people say he wouldn't be there ;)

Saying Roddick wouldn't be good if he didn't have his serve is pathetic because you could say something like that for all the players! Player X wouldn't be good if it wasn't for his great forehand... Player Z wouldn't be good if it wasn't for his speed etc... it's just and endless arguement! It's true he wouldn't be as good without his serve but I bet everybody's fave player wouldn't be as good if you took away the best part of their game! I personally know Lleyton wouldn't be as good if you took away his speed!

For the record ANDY RODDICK DOES NOT SUCK. I don't believe you guys are all saying that... Andy is a winner at heart and he plays with such passion. He is such a fighter... did you not see him play against Sluiter and Chela? Did you SEE Andy's bruise- THAT was not drama acting... I don't even think Andy acts that well! I am just so angered by almost everyone's replies... Andy is the future of tennis and you all know it. Yes, Hewitt is too, but do you see Hewitt with a great outlook and a great love for fans like Andy? To be a great tennis player, you must also have a great attitude, not just have great skill. I am so proud of Andy because of his skill, attitude, humor, caringness, etc... that is why I love him and admire him and look up to him.
This is just my opinion but I have a right to state it because you all have stated yours QUITE strongly... I dislike Hewitt myself... I will not say HATE because I am not a tennis bottom-dweller like the rest of you... tennis is an elegant game and it needs elegant players and fans... and according to these replies, we don't have any!
Don't you dare go saying Andy sucks again, because clearly, HE DOESN'T.... by saying that, you have insulted not only American tennis fans but also fans ALL AROUND THE WORLD who loves Andy. One day, he will make it and he'll show you and I hope that goes to show that he is truly the best. Andy's not in the prime of his game now but he's only 20- he has plenty of years left. When he is, I'm sure y'all will wanna go hide in a ditch somewhere cos you were wrong about him in August/September of 2002. He IS going to be the top player in the world and you just might want to bite your tongue (I mean, hand) next time you say that he sucks. Andy Roddick is the best.... let all us fans make that clear to the world!
I, for one, am not afraid to say that I LOVE ANDY... I know he's the best- and you all will know SOON enough...

I think everybody can see that Andy has got talent, and the way he just brings the crowd up, it's just incredible, you don't see other players doing that. I didn't actually feel like posting here, but oh well, the things I do for Andy, lol, gotta protect his name, let people out there no that there are a bunch of Andy lovers out there, lol. Chela sucks!!! i can't believe that he fell for that faking act. after the Lappentti fake-job, you would think that all players had gone on alert when playing against Queen Andy. but no. Chela had to back off and start playing less intense bec his opponent had called for an injury time-out. i say Chela sucks for falling for it. of course that seriously bad line call that gave Andy the second set was just unforgiveable.

Correjta sucks  for not winning that third set. he knew that if he gave Andy the first two sets he had the stamina to win the remaining three. he should have done it.

Courier and MacEnroe are FANTASTIC for having the courage and honestly to call Andy a big, fat FAKE!!! i was so impressed. they even agreed that he was faking in France against Change.

OK so now everyone knows. Andy sucks:mad: He is a Drama Queen. he plays for the camera and for the crowd. he sucks up the attention and likes to do the hero bit. and anyone who falls for it in the future seriously SUCKS!!!!!!

Ok, did you people even SEE his foot? You think that's an act? You think that Andy painted his bruise the size of my fist purple all because he wanted to get people to feel sorry for him? Yeah, he just wastes his time PRETENDING to be hurt... well, here's news for you... he's won a bunch of his games by NOT pretending to be hurt... why does he need to pretend anyways?
Courier and McEnroe support Andy, and I can guarentee you that. Yes, they SUGGESTED that he might be exaggerating a TAD bit but doesn't EVERYONE exaggerate? Both of them themselves have not been known to be the most honest people in the world... the point is that they were saying that Andy might be exaggerating (which I don't blame him at ALL to be... I think he wasn't though, cos I've had a bone bruise on my foot too and I had to stay off my foot for 2 weeks) but they KNEW he was hurting and he was in pain...
So, ummmm... you guys might want to shut up about what you DON'T know or sure are guessing about...

Well men's tennis is 70% about serve, and it's the same for all players, so it's irrelevant what his ranking would be without his serve. Right now he is in the top 10

If I'm not mistaken, he has to beat Pete and reach the semis to get back into the top ten on the entry system. Otherwise, he's still outside of it.

In the race he is top ten mind you, and like 50 points or something off the top 5 or something? (I know this cause I track who could pass Ferrero :p )

I also wouldn't say that serve is 70% of the game... if it was, why isn't Arthurs in the top ten? Or Dent?

Hi,
I'm just new to this site but I don't care if I make enemies so I'll be honest. How can you call a top 10 player a sucker, and you don't get that high and be the highest ever ranked rookie (2001) by being a faker, he plays good honest tennis and gets passionate and pumped up about it. There should be more people like andy who are willing to give the game a good name and attract youngsters to play unlike moody Rios or Tim 'I'm the stereotypical upper class tennis player' Henman. I can't wait until Andy wins the US Open so I can see all of you reverse your attitudes to Andy in the same way the media undoubtedly will. I am happy to understand and accept other peoples opinions and the people who genuinely dislike Andy that's fine coz I dislike certain players, just anyone who's going with the consensus in this post or following the media 'roddicks an over hyped player - despite he is a very successful player and helps our business out like hell' view get your own opinions and stop following the crowd.

Hi by the way I'm Ellie and a roddick fan as u might be able to tell, I also like the other young guns hewitt blake federer etc and will always voice my views.

Howcome Andy beats the same players that everyone else beats, but when Andy beats them

I think a lot of people's points is that he plays well against those below him, but hasn't taken too many major scalps (Haas, Safin, Hewitt, Federer, etc etc).

I haven't heard anyone praising Hewitt for his tough early round wins either, if you omit James Blake.

Thx John and Jim for confirming my suspicion that Andy's a cheater. Hey, everyone said he is a fake, so don't say I'm bias. If Pat Mc is on TV, I wonder if he will admit what he knows a long time ago.

I know not everyone can be Rafter, playing the game with such honesty and integrity. But Andy has some serious thinking to do. He's giving his game and himself a bad name. Maybe John should suggest him to play it like a man, not a child.

If he won the USO this year, I wonder next year, if the commentators will keep mentioning that "In" ball got call out to give him a break against Chela. Hey, who knows, if that ball was called correctly, Chela might be the USO champ this year. Isn't it what they kept saying about last year that Andy should have won!!!

whatever. I seriously don't think that he's faking, i mean come on, i don't if you've got the same coverage as mine, but I got to see that huge bruise on his feet, i'll like to see you say it doesn't hurt when you get that bruise. btw, Ellie, nice to see another Andy fan. You're wrong about something though, if Andy win's the US Open this year, there will only be more people hating him, not changing their attitudes about him. Coz that's what fame and success brings you, jealousy and hatred. Heh, since you're a Brit, I guess you know what I'm talking about when I say it's the same about Man Utd, I just happen to be so unfortunate that I always support the people that gets hated because of their fame and success. It'll be nice if Andy can win though, show them that he's not all talk and nothing else, but I gotta say, I think Pete has got the edge for tomorrow's match.

He wants to get further into the tournament, so it's understandable that he'll be extra careful about it. And about Man Utd and Liverpool, heh, I shan't argue with you, I'll keep soccer to myself :D

no-one can suffer a genuine bone bruise injury and turn around and run like a gazelle. ask Lindsay -- she had one. she was out for weeks the first time, could not move. Andy is healthy as a horse. i'm not saying that he doesn't get injured -- heck he has already had two surgeries and spends more time on the massage couch than guys ten years older then him. but during that match against Chela, he was doing his fake-out routine. Chela sucks for falling for it.

And I'm also fine with players doing a bit of acting on the court, like Connors or (to an extend) McEnroe. Even Boris Becker sometimes gave his opponents evil glares. But these players were CHAMPIONS, Grand-Slam-winners.
Andy has achieved some OK wins, but nothing which would allow him to put up his stupid shows on court.

Roddick Reminds Us Again That He's Good but Not Great

If Andy Roddick is going to make Andre Agassi irrelevant, this isn't the way to do it.

Roddick couldn't keep the U.S. Davis Cup hopes alive against Croatia on Sunday. He couldn't give Southern California tennis fans an extra chance at one of the now-dwindling opportunities to see Agassi play in person.

And Roddick still hasn't made good on his potential to replace Agassi as America's preeminent tennis name.

It was Agassi's presence that gave this Davis Cup first-round match at the Home Depot Center a little extra sizzle, helping to sell 18,760 tickets — a three-day record for a first-round matchup in the United States. But Agassi lost to Ivan Ljubicic in straight sets Friday, a reminder that his presence is becoming more ceremonial than functional. And when Roddick's five-set loss to Ljubicic on Sunday clinched a victory for Croatia in the best-of-five format, Agassi didn't even have to take the court for the "dead rubber" final match. The U.S. sent out Bob Bryan instead.

Agassi, 35, will play in Indian Wells this week. He might play in the Mercedes-Benz Cup at UCLA this summer. Beyond that, who knows? He has told his agent that one day, when he feels he can't win Grand Slams anymore, he'll call it quits. There'll be little advance warning and no farewell tour.

We could have witnessed the torch passing Sunday. Instead it looked more like a bobbled baton.

Roddick remains among the tennis elite, ranked No. 3 in the world. And he did get the United States' only victory of the weekend when he beat Mario Ancic on Friday.

The problem is that he hasn't vaulted to that higher level, the place formerly occupied by Agassi and Pete Sampras.

It was all the way back at the 2002 U.S. Open that Sampras called Roddick "the future of the game, especially in the U.S."

Unfortunately, since those words left Sampras' mouth on the eve of their quarterfinal matchup in New York, Sampras and Agassi have won more Grand Slams than Roddick, 2-1.

We might end up saying that Roddick had the misfortune of coming of age at the same time as Roger Federer, the same way Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing and Karl Malone are all ringless because they entered the NBA at the same time as Michael Jordan.

But it seems as if Roddick keeps squandering his opportunities, and there were many examples of that Sunday in a match that had as many turns as a marathon — and lasted even longer.

After splitting the first two sets, Roddick and Ljubicic entered a tiebreaker in the third. Roddick raced out to a 4-1 lead, but couldn't make it stand. He blew three set points and fell to Ljubicic, 13-11.

Roddick rallied to win the fourth set in a tiebreaker, had the rambunctious crowd roaring … and promptly was broken to start the fifth set.

Ljubicic was admittedly tired, and had to have a trainer rub his legs to relieve a sore knee in the middle of the set. But it was Roddick who folded like a poker player holding 2-6-9.

He wasted three break points in the fourth game, then was broken himself again in the fifth.

"I just played a loose game," Roddick said. "Bottom line, I didn't make him play good tennis."

There should be a sense of urgency for Roddick right now. At 22 he's in the heart of his tennis career. Despite that, what he needs right now is patience.

Instead of forcing Ljubicic to run around, wear down and make unforced errors, Roddick kept going for the kill. He often wound up whacking balls out of bounds or even against the back wall. A costly example came in the eighth game of the first set. Roddick led, 40-15, and went into attack mode.

But his forehand went wide, the beginning of a Ljubicic comeback that enabled him to break Roddick.

Roddick's still more power than precision. So even though he cranked his serve up to 150 mph, Ljubicic could handle him.

"I have much more difficulty to return the serves that are really accurate, not with all the power," Ljubicic said.

So the Davis Cup moves on without the United States, although I never can tell exactly what stage the competition is in. First round? Finals? Is it ever over? Who's the current champion? Does anyone know?

We don't know if we'll ever see Agassi compete for the United States again. And, from a figurative standpoint, who will stand beside Roddick to carry the American flag in the tennis world? Besides Roddick and Agassi (ninth), the only other American in the top 30 of the ATP rankings is Vince Spadea, at No. 18. And you don't see Spadea in any ESPN commercials.

When Agassi bungee-jumped up and down the world rankings, Sampras was always there as the steady force. There's no one else for Roddick right now, and he has yet to take the final step to the top.

"Andy is getting better," Davis Cup Captain Patrick McEnroe said. "So are the other guys.

"He's doing a lot of things really well. He's just going to have to continue to work on that and continue to get better, because so is everybody else."

Ljubicic went out of his way to point out how impressed he was that Agassi dropped by the Croatian locker room to congratulate them and say how much he enjoyed watching the match.

"I appreciate that from him and I think he's a great person," Ljubicic said.

And, unfortunately, still the only American ambassador of tennis.

It's not fare to blame Roddick for DC loss. He beat Ancic, and Ivan has been on fire for a few weeks. As we know Ljubicic presented a a lot of problems to many players, including number1 player in the world. I felt that winning doubles would be the key for the US team. That's where they failed.

LOL! Too funny.

It's great to see so many people living and dying through Andy's matches. It's heartening to see that so many care about him. :D This just proves once again he's a major tennis star who has the charisma to bring out the best and worst in so many people who claim not to care about him. The haters will continue to devote much of their time, energy, and emotion into following every move Andy makes than they do their own favorite players. Even the Croats--who should be celebrating their national hero Ivan--are instead obsessed with Andy and his fans and just don't want to stop talking about Andy. Poor Ivan is lost in Andy-mania. Awesome. :yeah: Andy rules the roost again. Keep driving them all crazy, Andy.  :worship:
