Saw that. How do you think they will match up?

It should be very close especially considering Nadal's excellent performance against Hewitt but I feel it will all come down to Nalbandian's fitness.

Did you see Federer's match? I have to say that I was sad, cause I'm sure that if David would have gotten to SF he would have met Roger and I'm sure he would have beaten him, especially if Roger would have played like he did today...Oh well, a nw tournament is coming, let's see how he does.

yeah fed was very bad, he cant play any worse against roddick or kiefer

Yes it was a bad day for Roger - if he plays like that tomorrow against Duckboy - he will get killed! I guess sometimes we forget that poor Roger is only human too - he is such a brilliant player that people are surprised when he has an "off-day", - but tonight showed he is only human too!

i dont know whats worse, fed losing in the semi or losing in the final against duckboy (and having all the ducks party about the result?)

Yeah, but even on his worst day he won!

i have watched fed's match, his forehand is like shit......too many mistakes, glad that his real forehand comes back in the 3rd set, otherwise, i can't see any bright future of him.......... Good luck to your final, roger!!!!

in tenniswarehousediscussion, another message board, someone said he saw david practicing against zabaleta and that zabaleta was kicking his ass, and david not playing good at all.

But Mariano owns David I think, I remember once he defeated david 57 60 60 :-0

I really hope he will beat the kid

Isaid that because Mirnyi was the doubles number 1 a year ago,and sargsian is good too.

I guess the pressure of all his injuries and the time he has taken off from the Tour are finally getting to him. In my opinion, - he should just FORGET about the Masters and defending points which will put even more pressure on him..............just go out and there and concentrate on playing to the best of his ability and staying healthy. If he wins great - but if he loses a few matches 1st round and ends up dropping to Number 20 in the world - who cares as long as he's healthy and fit for next year without having to take so much time out.

I guess you're right Rosie.

oh.....another horrible news...now i begin to be pessimistic too..........like all uya here.

The problem is he got a first good coming back when in Montecarlo after the ankle injury, why he did worse on hard surface —— his favorite surface this time? i think it's not the long term out of court problem, coz last injury time is even longer than this time. hope that practise is the worst part of it, which can give me more reasons to be optimistic

Yes, it's true. We're used to see him at his best after injuries. He was a finalist in Rome soon after his last injury. But I think the problem is that the zone that he injured is a key factor for the service movement and that's why he can't serve well. This is just a guess, because from what I read his main problem is the lack of confidence...

novanora
08-01-2004, 02:52 PM
Well, if it's the first problem, let's say the injury zone, that means he has not recovered 100% yet, or just don't want to serve hard which can produce another injury, that will be better, think his strength is not the serving, he does not depend on serving like roddick, if he can play baselines, volley, returning and other parts better, still has the chance of winning.
But if it's the second problem —— confidence, much worse, coz if he continues being out in the first round, that will be a vicious circle for him, maybe less and less confidence, and left of the year will be over :( nooooooooooooooo, i am more and more pessimistic!!!

jazz_girl
08-01-2004, 02:55 PM
But this sounds so weird to me, because I heard him and read several interviews lately, and he wasn't lacking confidence at all! In the contrary, I kept saying how happy I was because he sounded great. I'm worried that his first round defefat with Youzhny might have caused him some frustration...

novanora
08-01-2004, 03:03 PM
i don't think he is somebody like easily frustrated. Well, he is not stable, can play this match very well, but the next is like shit. i think he feels great, and hunting for the winning after long term without playing, he must be "hungry" for that. So take it easy, just believe the practise day is his off-day, that will be better. Let's see how he plays against Nadal, cross our fingers!

jazz_girl
08-01-2004, 03:37 PM
Yeah, I agree with you Nova, that must be it.
Vamos David! Don't rush, you have plenty of time to show how great you are!!!

It seems some people are finally understanding a bit of realism with David's injuries and form at the moment.

Sure I would make him hurt when he is physically training, but he just needs to be injury free for the rest of the year, and if that's the case, then the results will look after themselves, it's not a quick process and as long as he takes the right steps then success will come.

Not an easy opening round match against Nadal, but he can win, and injury-free is more important than the results.

But I think the problem is that the zone that he injured is a key factor for the service movement and that's why he can't serve well.

Good point.
The rib cage area is an extremely sensitive area on the body, so it's understood that it will be awhile when he can fully recover his range of motion.
