Notes: sorry if there are mistakes, I got the list in alphabetical order, then I got the ranking and erased players are not in. The list had only the surname of players and there was Martin at the list, we can only suppose it's Alberto Martin from Spain, however he is in direct acceptance, so I left him out.

U know where A.U.H.Qureshi is on the ALT list?

No, I only have the alternates list until #12 (who is ranked #286), Qureshi is ranked #299, I guess many players between them are not signed.

He has a chance to get into qualies, this year the last direct acceptance after withdraws was #311 (26th alternate).

Doesnt he need quite alot of people 2 withdraw then he can enter the Qualy draw??:confused:

yes, he needs. Like I said, this year the 26th alternate played the qualies, so Aisam has a good chance of making it.

God dammit...Eco and Maza couldn't at least end the year in the top 275? Why doesn't Maza use a PR? He hasn't played a slam in a long time.

Since the cut-off was #273 and alternate #12 is 286 - almost an automatic alternates list, only Brazilian Julio Silva is not signed - we can say 25 players (if no player with protected ranking between 286 and 299). Anyway, some players from qualifying list might be moved to main draw as alternate or even be given WC, also you can expect others players in the qualifying list (and alternates quali list) to withdraw.

Thank you. I took Pless and Berlocq from the list and added Bemelmans and Florian Mayer that were missing. Also the players with protected ranking (Florian is one of them) were added into the list with their PR and now are not more in a separate list. One wild card announced also added + other WC spots. I had a careful look at the list and couldn't find more mistakes, but is likely they are still there.

Your list is correct, also in the official list there are 108 players...it is an error from the ATP i think....because the players should be 119....

Or maybe they will give 11 BYES in first round for top11 seeds - if they can make 28 size-draws in ATP like happened this year, why not that too?

Note how Carsten Ball did not even bother to enter qualies. Either he has already been promised a WC, or he's pretty sure of himself. Not that I doubt that he's getting one, but it's rather bold (or telling) to not even enter.

Levine's absence is also kind of weird, but considering he did not play his third match in the USTA Play-Offs, he may be injured.

And I don't get why De Bakker is staying behind.

If Carsten didn't get a MD WC then he would take a Q WC away from a young aussie like Verryth or McKennzie who really needs it! That would be ashame and unfair!

No, I didn't edit. He's still on the list. As is Björkman, who also retired. I am just listing the players who would get into qualies based on their ranking, but aren't committed. Specifying whether that is for injury or retirement reasons, or simply because they don't want to travel to Australia and play on hard is irrelevant.

 Don't drink so much? :p :drink:

It's looking plausible that Qureshi gets in now. Ebelthite is still on the list, as is Groth, who I expect to get a MD WC.

If Klein also gets a MD WC, he'd have to be taken out too.

Wow, Qureshi out.

Looks like Faurel will get in, which is good news. His Nouméa results were very encouraging.

Norman in the twilight of his career will still travel to Melbourne? Surprising.

The Bakker, wanted to play here, but the dutch tennis oranisation forgot to write him in for the tournament. Now he probably cannot play the AO. Can someone tell if he is on the alt list now we know he wants to play...?

:awww: It's normally the players themselves who sign in, not the national tennis federations.

The alt list is made at the same moment when the entry list is made. De Bakker has no chance to get on it. Theoretically he could get a Wild Card. But I doubt they will give one to a dutch player who just forgot to commit. Well, I don't know how they handle late withdrawals. Maybe he has a chance if he is in Melbourne and another player withdraws late after the draw is already made.

Thanks for your reply!

I know it's normal that players sign themselves in. But in this case it's different. His "coach" is with the tennis federation. And they made a mistake. I also don't think he will get a wild card. Stupid mistake from the federation and thiemo as well. So only 3 dutchies at the ao-quallies.

De Bakker is training with Djokovic, according to his weblog...
The Djokovic-crew invited him, to train with him.

So if he's not playing Australian Open, he had a great sparring-partner :)

I was thinking of running a fairly simple contest, that won't take much time to play.

The Aussies will hope Ebden, Coelho and Lindahl get in with some more withdrawals. Will save some WCs.

In any case, Burzi, after the horrible loss to A. Gonzalez in Salinas, seems to have no business in Melbourne.
