The final rounds of the French Interclubs will take place this week-end in Croissy-Beaubourg near Paris (semi-finals on Friday and final on Saturday). There will be a livestream like last year - but only for the final, I guess? I was in Croissy last year, so I don't know how the livestream worked (the women's final takes place at the same time, I hope it focuses on the men's event).

The website: http://www.fft.fr/premiere_division/2008

The teams which have qualified for the final:
AS Patton Rennes
KOHLSCHREIBER Philipp
BOLELLI Simone
GICQUEL Marc
PATIENCE Olivier

SANTORO Fabrice
MAHUT Nicolas
DEVILDER Nicolas
ASCIONE Thierry
ROGER-VASSELIN Edouard
EYSSERIC Jonathan
RENAVAND Nicolas
BOTTI Kevin
MILSZTAJN Jonathan
CARRAZ Grégory

I doubt Lagardère Paris Racing will send its best team, so it might be quite even. Santoro, Mahut, Devilder... played in the qualifying rounds.

As usual, 4 singles and 2 doubles for each match.
Rennes is title holder.

The results of the qualifying rounds are here: http://www.fft.fr/premiere_division/2008/?id=4083

I hope not. Even for the price of suffering longer from withdrawal symptoms. ;)

BTW: Why is Gilles playing for Lagardère?

Some kind of Jedi mind trick from Lagardère?
I checked the website and newsletter from Lagardère Paris Racing. Gilles is all over the place. I know he's with the Federation. But still, I hope he doesn't join the dark side :bolt:

LPR should send their A team... as if it's not embarrassing enough when their elite players finished below the players from FFT in the rankings :p

Who cares? The battle between the FFT and LPR is about who will "produce" the next French grand slam winner, and this will be LPR!

There has always been a streak of a "tard" in me. ;)

Gilles Simon has been playing for the "Paris Racing Club" for years, before it became "Lagardère Paris Racing". The Paris Racing team used to be Simon, Renavand, Carraz...
The intruders are the Team Lagardère boys, they're all new.

He won't play anyway, he's still on vacation and said he will start practicing again in December. No idea for Ritchie, but maybe PHM will play? He's been practicing for 2 weeks now, it should be enough for that kind of event.

I hope not too many of the Lagardère boys will show up because I don't want it to be one-sided. Mahut, Devilder, etc. would be fine for me.
The other teams have played with these players in the qualifying rounds already (apart from a few exceptions like Hanescu, ...), so I hope they will come with their A-team.

Gilles Simon was playing for LPR last year already and it wasn't preventing him from making fun in interviews of half of the French tennis going over to the Team Lagardère, etc.
Maybe he will "join the dark side" too one day, but don't read anything into him playing for LPR imo.

(I should have started the thread in the French section if it's going to turn into a discussion about the favourite topic of French tennis... :p)

To support and clarify what Fran said, LPR and Lagardere team are two different entities on their own. "Paris Racing Club" is an old parisian tennis club (since ~1880) located in Croix-Catelan (sport facilities place in paris); Lagardere "bought" the place in 2006 and the club was renamed Lagardere Paris Racing, but the club members are just users of those sport facilities and have no contract with Lagardere group. On the other hand, Lagardere Team is a sort of a privately owned Tennis Academy in which members are directly under contract with Lagardere Corporation. I'm over-symplifying things but I hope it helps. :]

Thanks. :wavey: But the only thing that counts for me is that my favourite Frenchie is on the list for LPR (though I deeply hope he won't play) and also a member of the Lagardère team. Well, I have to live with that. Nobody is perfect. ;)

I remember you told me when I was fraking out earlier
It's just that their website has been promoting Gilles with all the newsletter and all. It's strange... as there's the big Lagardere logo on every page.

PHM should find this as a great occasion to drive around in his Porsche :spit:

I know, and I understand that perfectly well.

According to this in 2005 ( no Lagardère at that time :p), however, my memory would have said in 2006.

Thanks, Natsume, good job, not easy to clarify the Lagardère stories!
This habit of renaming everything into "Lagardère something" is getting everybody confused.

Yes, Richard played in 2006, the years are confusing on the "Archives" page, 2007 is actually 2006, 2006 is 2005, etc.:
http://www.fft.fr/archives/cfem2006/
(Paris Jean-Bouin was Lagardère, he was there and cheering like a fanboy, I remember the articles.)

Richard was looking very motivated, he loves this event:

Rennes and Lille won their respective groups, so they will face either Bordeaux or Paris on Friday.
I doubt Lagardère Paris Racing will send its best team, so it might be quite even. Santoro, Mahut, Devilder... played in the qualifying rounds.
On the website of LP Racing it's written that they'll face Rennes in semis. Though they called Ascione "Nicolas", not sure we can trust them after that  Anyway is there some exact rule or something? I've checked the new rulebook but haven't found a word on this issue there. Two past years the scheme was like the one you mentioned, but if we look back even further we'll see that it was working a different way back then

As for the team they might send this week, yesterday there was an article in Le Parisien where Jean-Luc Barrière, club's treasurer, told that they're hoping to bring at least two top players. He said that Santoro, PHM and even Gasquet are back from holidays, as well as ERV and Ascione, plus there are other guys who played the last matches so they have a choice. (There is no direct link but if someone is interested I posted the whole article here (http://nicolasdevilder.skyrock.com/2125355421-INTERCLUBS-2009-France-Terre-battue-couverte-Indoor-clay-Novembre-2008.html), it's on the bottom of the page.)

Thanks, I was wrong, it's edited! Thanks for the article too, I hadn't read it.
I haven't checked the rulesbook, but according to the AS Patton website, they can't face again the team which was in their group, so they will play either Lille or LPR. And according to them, there will be a draw. We'll see. I think they would have already updated the FFT website if they already knew the semi-finals...

Bordeaux Primrose should play with Darcis, Serra, Montcourt, Pujo, Jouan and Doble. Draw on Friday morning. http://www.sudouest.com/gironde/sports/autres/article/426176/mil/3668725.html?L=0&cHash=8571a807f4

Thanks for the updates! :worship:
I'm tend to believe there will be a draw and nothing is clear yet. The absence of any information on the official website is probably not an indicator because they've always been late with updates during the RR matches. But when a club's website provides us with all the detailed info and also mentions the draw - it's unlikely they are wrong.

TC Lille aslo talks about the draw (http://www.nordeclair.fr/Sports/Athletisme/2008/11/25/les-lillois-s-offrent-comme-toujours-une.shtml), and on Villa Primrose's website it is said that the draw will be made on Thursday evening. So, just one more day to go and the great mystery will be solved.

The semi-finals: Rennes-Paris and Lille-Bordeaux
http://www.fft.fr/premiere_division/2008/?id=4397

Rennes: Kohlschreiber, Gicquel, Patience, Meffert, Saulnier
Paris: Mahut, Devilder, Ascione, Roger-Vasselin, Eysseric
Bordeaux: Darcis, Serra, Montcourt, Pujo... Jouan is in Croissy, but doubtful (knee injury), no Hernych, no El Aynaoui
Lille: Vliegen, Christophe Rochus, Economidis, Uhlirach... no Pless

Livestream only on Saturday, unfortunately, the semi-finals would have been probably more interesting, they look quite even. At least they have a separate livestream for the men and the women events.

The Parisian clubs "buy" all the French players!
At least Lille's top players are from Belgium, it doesn't feel completely random.

AS Patton Rennes - Lagardère Paris Racing : 3 - 1
N. Mahut (LPR) b. P. Kohlschreiber (AS Patton) 6/3, 6/4 - but Kohli is a bit injured according to the website (right thigh)
O. Patience (AS Patton) b. T. Ascione (LPR) 3/6, 6/3, 7/6 (3)

Bordeaux - Lille 2-2 :rocker2:
Darcis (Bordeaux) b. C. Rochus (Lille) 6/3, 3/6, 7/6 (4)

Darcis has a problem with his elbow, he couldn't serve normally, says it's a little miracle to have won, saving MP in the process.

But Lille has better doubles teams now anyway with Kas & Co.

Rennes-Paris Racing
Double 1 : Kohlschreiber-Patience (Rennes) / Mahut-Roger-Vasselin (Paris Racing)
Double 2 : Gicquel-Meffert (Rennes) / Devilder-Renavand (Paris Racing)

Kohlschreiber probably not seriously injured then - but Rennes didn't bring many substitutes either according to the pic.

Lille-Bordeaux
Double 1 : Kas-Wassen (Lille) / Serra-Darcis (Bordeaux)
Double 2 : Vliegen-Rochus (Lille) / Montcourt-Jouan (Bordeaux)

I was hoping they would let Eco play again....

Yes, Eco really was the weak link yesterday, great effort from everybody according to the reports - except Eco.

Darcis not playing for Bordeaux, he was injured anyway, I hope it won't turn into a demolition now and it won't be over after the singles already!

Truc thanks for this. I stumbled on the info this morning and I wish I'd been up earlier to watch. Is it all finished now?

Truc
11-29-2008, 06:39 PM
Yes, it's finished, it was the final, Paris Racing won the title for this year.

It's a nice event every year during the off-season because the livestream is quite good and the teams really are into it.
This year the final turned into a purely French affair, but that's not so usual. Kohlschreiber was playing the semi-finals for example yesterday, but his team lost.
