Will it be U.S., France, or Spain?

With all due respect to Belarus, cuz they're on a great run, they won't make it to the final. So really, the Davis Cup comes down to the Yanks, the French, and the Spanish armada. The Yanks caught a huge break when Belarus upset injury riddled Argentina. Nalbandian and Coria are tough customers on all surfaces. Do you guys agree that everyone besides Andy Roddick is playing their way out of the No. 2 Davis Cup spot? Fish cant beat the Ivo Karlovics, Cyril Saulniers, and Gregory Carraz's of the world. Dent is struggling with confidence ever since the disastrous loss to Roddick in Australia. Spadea is struggling with injuries. Blake is struggling. Ginepri is the best bet. Does the U.S. get to play at home if they make the final. On clay, the U.S. doesn't stand a chance. Roddick won't be able to win 2 rubbers.

I personally think it will be a Spain v USA final in Madrid on clay, in which case the Spaniards would more than likely clean up. They have a tough semi against France but I think they'll get through it given the fact that it's on their favourite surface and they're at home...and whether Juanqui plays or not doesn't really matter because they have enough depth to get them through...Moya and Nadal or Moya and Robredo would be the obvious singles options

When does the Spanish team get named? There has been a lot of speculation over who is in the team...while I am sure it will the obvious...I am hoping there will be an unlikely inclusion  However...I am preparing for shattered hopes.

In any case....VAMOS ESPAÑA!

I can't see USA winning when the final is played on clay, which is surely where it'll be played even if France do beat Spain.

Spain has the best chance. France, without Santoro, should not be a problem in singles. We should win 4-1. The final is gonna be tougher, but still, playing at home on clay, we should beat any team, included US of course.

So, ¡¡GO SPAIN - VAMOS ESPAÑA!!

Yes, it is. And tangerinus is the moron, who thinks Andy has had a bad year!! Wait till DC, then we'll talk :rolls: I hope that MTF will make vcash betting avalible to DC, as well. I'm going to bet ALOT of vcash on Spain over USA, and also on the singles matches. :)

Do you actually think that USA will beat Spain in Spain, on CLAY!! Youre going to lose alot of vcash betting the US to win Davis Cup.

Spain on clay....although I see Roddick win one of his singles matches

Dirk
09-22-2004, 04:43 AM
 Yoda against who? Moya barely loses to andy on hardcourt and you put those two on clay and its moya in straights. Let's not even talk about JC and Andy. I think We will be seeing serveral breaks per set in the DC final. You can forget about JC being hurt. He is slowly but surely getting his game back and he along with moya will be geared towards glory for Spain. JC would love to end this horrible year for him with a DC title and Moya is looking for his first. Andy and Company are dead. Bryans will likely win their match so they can be very proud but that is it.

i am willing to bet for:
roddick defeat moya in four sets
roddick defeat ferrero in three sets
bryans win doubles match.

great risk i know but any body wanna bet that at least it wo'nt be a straight victory for either or states???

I wouldnt write off Belarus just yet. Not many thought they could make it this far, but here they are. They play their best tennis in DC.
Anyway I think either Spain or USA will win. I'm not sure who gets the home tie, but whoever gets to play at home will win.

USA will beat Spain on clay. Just my feeling. Moya and Ferrero both play terrible lately and Roddick can beat both of them on clay. I think USA has a good chance. Spain is the favorite though.

MissPovaFan
09-22-2004, 09:44 PM
I agree that Roddick can beat anything that Spain has to offer on clay but I dont feel USA's number 2 singles player can - whoever he may be.

Aphex
09-23-2004, 12:07 AM
Yes I think Spain will beat USA in the final. I don't think Roddick is the favourite against any of the top Spanish players on clay. He might fight down one of them in five sets on the first day, but then he'll be washed up for his next tie. The Spaniards can just bring on someone fresh. I wonder if PMac will stick with the Fish in a final away vs. Spain? Or will he bring on Spadea? And isn't one of the Bryans playing injured?

:haha:   :rolls: What the fuck are you talking about. If USA plays Spain, they have NO CHANCE IN HELL!! Their play doesnt matter. When Moya barely loses to Roddick on HARD, why do you think he has a chance against Moya or JC on clay. If Roddick is lucky, he might win more than 3 games in a single set. :haha: The Byrans will likely win their doubles match, but thats the only match USA will win. Fish is even worse on clay than Roddick, so forget about him.

Fedex
09-23-2004, 12:46 AM
The only semi descent player USA has on clay is Spadea, but he stands no chance, regardless, I doubt they'll use him anyway. Spain will win this series 4-1 :)

Deboogle!.

it takes a lot to beat both JC and moya on clay, can roddick beat them on clay? NO WAY!!! i would love to see JC kick roddick's ass, then JC will get a big boost of confidence and next year JC is back in action and will win all 4 grand slams (mabye thats just wishful thinking but who knows)

Spain should win the tie ag France... and then will be quite funny to see Roddick, Fish, Dent and Cia. being thrashed on clay, perhaps losing any possible set :D
Bryan Twins could win its rubber although even for them would be hard.
