Snowflake thanks for the youtube. I couldn't understand a word of it, but found Willy to be absolutely engaging. He voice is so sexy and was the interviewer flirting with him. I could see him working in the media when he has finsihed with tennis, which I hope is not for a couple of years yet.

Hoping Willy makes the main draw of Paris as he has won his first qualifying match.

Basically he was talking about how he's a totally different person from what he is on the court, that he's much more relaxed and stuff. Then how his father got him into tennis and how he probably likes it more than he does. Also that it used to affect him, when he was young, when his family would come to watch him, but that changed as he gotten older and realized that they're there for him, and are happy to see him play regardless if he wins or loses. Then the topic of kids came up, and he said "we" are still not thinking about it, and that he's still far from it. He talked about his best season, how he didn't have the time to enjoy it cause of the wrist injury, then about the doping claims, how that affected him...

That's all i remember. Oh and she called him a gladiator...in a way that he's a fighter and battles whatever comes his way.

Oh shit he didn' make the main draw of Paris, I guess he can start his off-season a little bit earlier. Hoping he has a good break and he gets a berth in the DC final.

Let's all hope that 2009 is way better than 2008.

Have a good break Willy.

*snowflake* - thanks I had not seen these! :yeah:

ange (et al.), Llodra has withdrawn so supposedly Willy is taking his place, so if he gets past Serra he plays Nadal.

Ooh, a withdrawal. MichaŰl Llodra has been forced to pull out due to a knee problem and he will be replaced by a lucky loser by the name of… Guillermo Ca˝as.

Thanks Snoo you are so on the ball. Snowflake's translation was pretty good, if you can give me some more info would you mind. Now this is a good start to my morning with Pico also winning against Marat. :D

As long as he gets past Serra and makes 2nd round, I'll be happy with that.

Also, Willy comes across as a very cool dude.

Yeah I'm just stoked he's getting a 2d chance here, when they announced Llodra had withdrawn one of the commentators said he saw Willy in the hotel lobby in the morning looking like he was on his way to the airport so I thought oh hell, he missed it, but I guess they got him back or something :woohoo: so at least now I can watch him vs. Serra tomorrow, it'd be awesome if he could get one more win before DC...

Pt 1 of the interview is pretty much as Snowflake said, how his dad got him started in tennis, around 9 or 10 he picked tennis over futbol, the thing he likes about tennis is all the responsibility is on him, whether good or bad, the outcome depends on him. He talked about 2002 being a very strange year cuz it was his most successful year (getting in top 8, winning toronto) but at the end of the year he had surgery on his right hand, there's a lot more pressure on you when you're that successful, when nobody expects much of you there's no pressure but when you're ranked that high etc. you have to keep it up, dealing with sponsors, dealing with expectations, etc.

I'll watch pt. ii again later but right now I'm trying to watch (u.s.) football, baseball and a rerun of House all at the same time plus make iced tea and do my TT picks for tomorrow. rough life I know.

Snoo :worship:, thanks heaps. s my satellite won't televise Court 1, I won't get to watch but I can sb watch and that will be ok.

Enjoy your night's entertainment. No rush on the translation though.

BTW, do you still like Lllodraaa.

BTW, do you still like Lllodraaa.

Ahhhhh of course I still love Lllloooooooooodraaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh, :hearts: it's ironic, or at least strange, that Willy's getting in cuz Llooooodraaaaaahhh had to drop out  one of my most favorites replaced by another of my most favorites... but... as willy would say, asi es la vida...

but yeah, ok, pt. 2 of the interview, he talked about how when he was younger he felt like his parents/dad were really demanding but now he understands how hard it must be to be a parent, now he sees his dad was right, that's when the lady said Oh it sounds like you're getting ready to be a dad! and he says oh no, that's in the distant future... and then they talked about 05 and the doping ban and he said how it was the worst times of his life, etc., and then when he came back it was a feeling of success. she asked what it's like to be out injured for a long period of time, and he said because work is so important to him and tennis is his passion, it hits him hard, it's a little depressing. Then she asked him what is his biggest dream for the future and he said winning Davis Cup, and winning a slam/RG, and also participating in the Olympics and enjoying the special occasion that happens only 4 years since he probably won't make it to the next one. And let's see, she asked him what was the most important moment of his tennis career and he said he'd had so many injuries and the doping ban it was hard to pick one but the most recent Important Moment was coming back from his doping ban after 15 months.... so there you have it.

Then they drank champagne.

so yeah... jeez I sure hope Argentina wins this damn DC final...

Snoo thanks heaps love. BTW your old friends said to say hello especially CL who would love you to drop by sometime. And good to hear you still love Llodraaa.

Snoo I so don't want the friggin Spainish to win it as you will never hear the end of it. More importantly, I really would love Willy to get a spot on the team and not sitting on the bench.

Heard the baseball got washed out.

Hope you had a good evening and thanks once again for the translation.

Well Willy didn't make the most of his opportunity as a LL. At least he won a set and the match looked competitive at least on the scoreboard. Did anyone get to see the match even on replay?

I hope he has a good break.

he was making way too many UFEs, especially off his fh for some reason, plus not getting any 1st serves in. He saved a bunch of sps at 4-5 in the 2d and then ended up blowing it two games later, then in the 3d he went down an early break and managed to break back and then got broken right back... he couldn't get any momentum and he just was playing sloppy which just isn't like him. Serra played well and the crowd was really going crazy for him, it wasn't a terrible match but I'm just gutted, especially after he won the first set and then managed to save those sps in the 2d... and now serra will get crushed tomorrow (although I'm sure willy would have too) but it's just a cruddy end to the season... so cross your fingers for DC.... :) :p

Snoo I am feeling really flat and bit sad for him. But I'm positive he will turn it around next year. He can go home now and hang out with Fabiana, his mates and family and start again for 2009. At least he is not the only one having a crap year, there are a few of them. The best thing at least he is not ending the season with an injury and doesn't need surgery.

And thanks once again for the report on him.

Gosh I wish I wasn't so obsessed with him.
