I hope so ARod! :)

Sparko - yup, Nico is fit. :yeah:

10-12-2008, 07:55 PM
The live ticker says the final will begin at 6:15 p.m. Brazil time.

Everyone can figure out their own time from there. ;)

That's in about 2 hours and 20 minutes.

10-12-2008, 08:14 PM
Hmmmm....tough draw in Montevideo.

So hopefully Nico can do it here.

Patience (again) in the first round this time, then maybe Roitman, then maybe Paul or Lucho.

Once someone types it up, I'll post it.

10-12-2008, 08:29 PM
Montevideo has a tough draw. Good players are in and the cut was on #162.

10-12-2008, 09:57 PM
Sadness.

The live ticker is down - says that the site has exceeded its bandwidth.

Maybe it will be back when the match actually begins.

10-12-2008, 10:33 PM
Okay, weird, now there's a different live streaming.

It shows 5-5.

And I messed up - I forgot the time change. :o  I was thinking the match started now.

10-12-2008, 10:45 PM
SB isn't moving.

As always, tennis is a pain in the a*s to follow.

10-12-2008, 10:55 PM
It appears they've fixed their live streaming problems.

Sad news however.

Patience won the first set 7-6.

It's 1-1 in the 2nd.

10-12-2008, 10:58 PM
Okay, spoke too soon.

It's gone again.

Whatever....

10-12-2008, 11:13 PM
NICO is up 5-2 in the 2nd!!!

10-12-2008, 11:22 PM
NICO won the 2nd set 6-2!!!

Keep it going NICO!! :fiery:

10-12-2008, 11:23 PM
Where is everyone?

10-12-2008, 11:26 PM
Can't tell who is serving.

But 1-0 Nico...

10-12-2008, 11:28 PM
2-0 NICO!!!

10-12-2008, 11:32 PM
The live streaming keeps getting better and better.

Now I can tell who is serving.

2*-0 NICO!

10-12-2008, 11:51 PM
Again...spoke too soon.

I had to take a phone call, and when I got back, the sb is gone again.

10-12-2008, 11:52 PM
Spoke too soon again! :rolls:

It's baaacccckkkk...

4-1* NICO!!!

10-12-2008, 11:53 PM
Not that it matters since no one is here.

10-12-2008, 11:59 PM
NicoFan! I'm here with you! ;)

C'mon Nico... you can do it!

10-13-2008, 12:04 AM
:wavey: ARod!!!

I just lost the sb again. :rolls:

10-13-2008, 12:04 AM
NicoFan, your name is Lynn, right?

10-13-2008, 12:06 AM
Yes. :)

And your name is...???

10-13-2008, 12:08 AM
My name is Andy.

Lynn is for Lynette?

10-13-2008, 12:10 AM
Hi Andy!!! You like one of my other favorites: Mr. Roddick. :) Ducky... :yeah:

No, just plain 'ol Lynn. Not short for anything.

10-13-2008, 12:11 AM
I think the sb has died...

10-13-2008, 12:17 AM
Damn. I want to know the result of the match. Nico deserves the victory.

10-13-2008, 12:19 AM
I've searched everywhere.

Nada.

10-13-2008, 12:25 AM
It's a wrong info. :(

10-13-2008, 12:26 AM
While we are waiting for the final score in Florianopolis, here is the main draw in Montevideo....

10-13-2008, 12:28 AM
Okay things changed back...

10-13-2008, 12:29 AM
I don't know what happens. The site says that Nico won the match, but the score it's wrong.

10-13-2008, 12:30 AM
Hmmm...don't know what's up...let me check the Tennis Brasil main site again...

10-13-2008, 12:34 AM
Yeah I saw that on It's the same score as his SF match.

But nowhere else has any type of final score.

What a pain...Desperate Housewives is on in 26 minutes...I want to know the score before that.

10-13-2008, 12:37 AM
You know why has that score? Because that's the score that Tennis Brasil has in the bracket.

I would bet that Nico won - but someone had a brain cramp and put the wrong score in. They're going to put the right winner in, but easy to put the wrong score in. At least I hope...

But can't be sure until there is some other type of confirmation...

10-13-2008, 12:38 AM
Okay HE DID WIN!!!

Now Tennis Brasil has the right score!!!

(2)Nicolas Massú (CHI) v. (6)Olivier Patience (FRA), 6/7(4) 6/2 6/1

10-13-2008, 12:39 AM
Okay everything back to where it should be. :rolls:

10-13-2008, 12:42 AM
The brazilians are an irresponsables. What score is correct? I don't think that Nico won with the same score than against Luczak. :(

10-13-2008, 12:42 AM

back in the top 100 :yeah:

10-13-2008, 12:43 AM
The second score that I posted: (2)Nicolas Massú (CHI) v. (6)Olivier Patience (FRA), 6/7(4) 6/2 6/1

He was up 4-1 in the third when the sb died so makes sense.

I'm so proud of NICO.  Our fighter is back! :fiery:

10-13-2008, 12:44 AM
O ex-número 9 do mundo mostrou novamente poder de reação e virou o jogo diante do francês Olivier Patience, por 6/7 (4/7), 6/2 e 6/1 em 2h22min.WOOO!!!

10-13-2008, 04:59 AM

10-16-2008, 04:43 AM
Good Luck Nico!!! :hatoff: Keep on kicking butt!!! :fiery:

10-16-2008, 12:31 PM
To be honest, I won't be bummed if he doesn't do well here.

He's got three more weeks of tennis, and he had a long week last week.

First, I don't want him to get hurt becasue he's really tired.

Second, he always does well in BA - would be nice to see him kick butt there. And he has a history in Colombia :rolls: so want to see him do well there. Felipe said the last week is in Santiago - of course want him to do well there.

So if he wins - :woohoo:

But if he loses, on well, he can rest and be really ready for the last three weeks.

The only bad thing about losing early here might be that he will take a hit to his new confidence if he loses to Roitman (someone he would have been able to routinely beat in the past).

10-16-2008, 01:57 PM
he's gonna play soon :woohoo:

VAMOS NICO!!!! :fiery: :fiery: :fiery:

10-16-2008, 06:12 PM
Vamooos Nico!!!!!!!!!!! Goog luck!

10-16-2008, 09:56 PM
Nico def. Roitman 6-1 6-3 :)

next is Leonardo Mayer...

10-16-2008, 10:45 PM
Oh my goodness!

That's great! What a score!

10-16-2008, 11:02 PM
 NICO!!! :yippee:

Great scorline!!! :woohoo:

10-17-2008, 12:26 AM
I'm getting annoyed.

I want to follow Nico's matches. He's here on this side of the pond for a change, and I still can't follow his matches. :(

He's playing around 3:30 Uruguay time.

10-17-2008, 12:43 AM
Well done, Nico, Congrats for you.

Nico is on fire!

Good luck for tomorrow. :D

10-17-2008, 07:18 PM
Nico is up 6-3, 4*-3!!!

Keep it going NICOOOOO! :fiery:

10-17-2008, 07:21 PM

10-17-2008, 07:21 PM

Come on NICO break again for the match! :)

10-17-2008, 07:22 PM

10-17-2008, 07:23 PM
:wavey: Andy!!! :)

10-17-2008, 07:24 PM
NICO WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6-3, 6-3!!!

10-17-2008, 07:24 PM
He won!

10-17-2008, 07:25 PM
fuck yeah Nico!!! :woohoo:

He will end in the top 100 for the 10th consecutive year :D

10-17-2008, 07:26 PM
Nico is on fire. :fiery:

I haven't seen this in so long that I feel like crying.  And I really never thought I would see it again. Yeay yeay is all I can say. :woohoo:

Don't know what the change is. Maybe he hates the challengers as much as I do. Wants to get back to the regular ATP. Maybe it is the new coach - although I hope not because I still have hopes for another coach. ;) Definitely has his confidence back.

Whatever it is - YEAY!! :yeah:

10-17-2008, 07:28 PM
Next opponent - I think is Santiago Ventura....

10-17-2008, 07:29 PM
This is fantastic, Nico is playing very well.
Tomorrow against Ventura, the Drop Shots Master, but I trust in Nico and I know he will put everything on court tomorrow.

10-17-2008, 07:31 PM
Ace Ventura's drop shots

Seems that Nico is back, i hope he gets this title and then rests for Cali, Santiago and Coquimbo CH. ;)

10-17-2008, 07:34 PM
He won't skip Buenos Aires. :rolls: He LOVES BA!!!

He could skip Colombia, but after they were mean to him so long ago  , I'd like to see him win there (even though most people wouldn't remember it).

10-17-2008, 07:35 PM
Cali has more points than Baires, If Nico skips Baires and then plays and win Cali could enter the top 70.

It's a good choice imho. ;)

ps: or Nico is trying to do a "JMDP run"? winning 4 challengers in a row? :haha:

10-17-2008, 07:37 PM
He could skip BA. But that's his favorite place in the world. Of course, he can always go party there offseason with his new improved ranking if he keeps winning. ;)

10-17-2008, 07:45 PM
wow,i'm sooo happy!!a very good day!:woohoo:

10-17-2008, 07:47 PM
Probably you are right, he can't skip BA, not only for the parties.

Also he's playing well again after a long time and he must take advantage of this moment.

10-17-2008, 08:20 PM
I think he could maybe will take a rest the next week and he will back to Cali and then to Santiago. :D

10-17-2008, 11:39 PM

I can't believe it...I can't follow this match either.

Cancha Central – 11:00 horas
Nicolás Massú (CHI) vs Santiago Ventura (ESP)

10-18-2008, 12:51 AM
:woohoo: This is sooooo awesome!!! Just keep on winning Nico!!! :rocker:

10-18-2008, 02:43 AM
This is just fantastic!! :bounce:

Vamos Nico! Keep it going! Keep the fire alive!! :fiery: :rocker2:

10-18-2008, 09:00 AM
Vamos!!! :D

10-18-2008, 02:46 PM
first set 7-6(5) for Nico, he is hitting the ball a lot harder than the last few months, that's a nice sign, and Ventura is taking the ball really early in the second serve, playing a lot of drop shots (14 7w/7l ) and the first set took 1hr20mins , Nico was 5-0 (i think, at least that's what the TyC guys were saying, i started watching at 5-4) with 2 SP and Ventura won 4 consecutive games and finally this ended in a tiebreak :P and with ventura calling the trainer... looking good so far

10-18-2008, 03:34 PM
phew! what a long match 7-6(5) 6-4 :)

10-18-2008, 04:04 PM

First, WHOO HOOO FOR NICO!! I'm soooo psyched!!! But wow, glad I wasn't watching, because I get crazed when he lets a big lead go. :rolls:

Ricardo - was it on TV? Or did you watch it on live streaming? I tried to find live streaming for his QF match and couldn't find any.

on Tv, the TyC Sports channel, i don't know if they have a livestream or not, here is the page if you want to check:

anyway, because of the Soccer match tomorrow (River vs Boca) they are not going to show the final live, just taped at 2:00am O_o

10-18-2008, 05:07 PM
Oh, lucky you!!!

Thanks for the link. :) I'll check it out. I like both River and Boca - that would be a fun match to watch. I used to get to see them both all the time on Fox Sports en espanol when I lived in the City, but now that I'm back in CT, I don't get that channel.

10-18-2008, 05:27 PM
I've decided what Nico should do schedule wise. ;) :haha:

He loves BA. So go. Play the first round and that's it. Party a couple of days - have a good time and relax.

Then be rested for Cali where there is more points, and of course be ready for Santiago.

What do you all think???

10-18-2008, 06:00 PM

Congrats, Nico! :clap2:

I'm happy for the last results of Nico, he is improving his game and having a great end of season. :D

You can't like both at the same time, that's unreal funny :haha: :haha: :haha:

They are too much archirivals, it's probably one of the biggest match-ups in the world of football.

As for Nico :worship: 9 in a row, that's the Nico i was waiting all year. :D

10-18-2008, 07:25 PM
Yes, I can like both. :ras: :rolls: And I do like both. :yeah:

That's like people who tell me that I can't be a Red Sox and Yankees fan at the same time. They say it is impossible. :ras: to them can't be impossible, because truly I like both.

I've been waiting for this Nico for a long time too - since like 2006. I'm so happy that I could cry. I miss this Nico. I can't understand what happened to him before and why he let it go on so long. But hopefully this good streak keeps going. :yeah:

10-18-2008, 08:05 PM
Tomorrow against Luczak who defeated Cuevas 6-3, 7-6(14).

Vamos Nico, we know you can do it. ;)

10-18-2008, 09:09 PM
The final against Luczak will be at 11:30 Uruguay time.

GOOD LUCK TO NICO! :fiery:

10-18-2008, 09:14 PM
Nico plays Boris Pashanski in the first round of BA.

Here's the draw:

As soon as someone types it up in the challenger thread, I will post it.

10-18-2008, 10:04 PM
ohh >_< i hate that guy, you gotta' beat him Nico!

10-18-2008, 10:23 PM
The bottom half looks very tough.

10-18-2008, 10:25 PM
ohh >_< i hate that guy, you gotta' beat him Nico!

I know that everyone says he's a jerk, but I can't remember why....

I'm getting old and my memory must be going... :o :rolls:

10-19-2008, 12:21 AM

10-19-2008, 02:13 PM
Oh no - the live ticker says the match is suspended because of an injury to Nico???

10-19-2008, 02:14 PM
Latercera says that Nico has a stomach viral infection.

A  to Nico - hope that he is okay!!!!

10-19-2008, 02:21 PM
And pity that he comes down sick now. Just when he's doing so well.

Again, hope he feels better.  That's the most important thing.

Recover, Nico!

10-19-2008, 02:35 PM
I'm not sure if Nico is going to play Bs As ... Get well soon

Thanks Fergie!

Hopefully he'll feel better. But even if he feels better and decides to skip BA and relax for awhile ;), seems like a good plan to me. He's probably ti-red from playing so much the last three weeks.

10-19-2008, 05:08 PM
Damn, bad luck.

I think the same, he must rest the next week and comeback to play in Cali and maybe in Santiago. I'm not sure if he is qualified for the Petrobras Masters.

10-19-2008, 05:52 PM
:awww: Poor Nico. But he had another great week, and like everyone is saying-a week off may be the best for him anyway. :yeah: Get better soon and take care of yourself Nico

10-19-2008, 11:45 PM
According to Nano, it's a definite. No BA. Cali is next. Nano says that Nico will need 3-4 days to recuperate.

Hope our Nico feels better soon. He can use the week's rest, and I'm sure he'll go home to Chile.

10-20-2008, 01:40 AM
get well soon warrior, too bad he will lose some spots in the ranking next monday

10-20-2008, 02:24 AM
poor Nico I hope he feels better soon  but it's the time of the year to get sick for those reasons :o

anyway it's a shame the ranking thing but anyway, the week off will help him a lot :yeah:

10-20-2008, 02:03 PM
Nico :sobbing:

hope he'll get better soon :awww:

10-24-2008, 04:27 PM
Cali seems to have a good website. Even has our Nico in the banner!

And of course there's the regular Copa Petrobras site too.

Hopefully it will be back up tomorrow.

Thanks for the info Nicofan :wavey:

Good Luck Nico!!! :hatoff: Time to kick some butt again!!! :fiery:

Thanks for the info NicoFan :yeah:

Vamoos Nicoo!!! Keep the good run going on! :rocker2:

10-28-2008, 08:53 PM
The Colombia time is GMT -5.

10-28-2008, 11:45 PM
Nico's debut is up next.

10-29-2008, 12:00 AM
:wavey: Andy!

Yup, Nico is up next. :)

Vamos NICO!!! :fiery:

10-29-2008, 12:07 AM
Hi Lynn! :wavey:

It seems that will be a tough match for Nico, he lost his first service game.

Vamos Nico, you can win this one.

10-29-2008, 12:08 AM
2*-0 Nico broken.

Oh we go again. :bigcry:

10-29-2008, 12:21 AM
Did Nico forget how to play tennis in his week off???

10-29-2008, 12:23 AM
5-0* the other guy.

Nico...

10-29-2008, 12:34 AM
6-1 first set the other guy...

This guy Carlos Salamanca is #356 in the world.

Nico... :banghead:

10-29-2008, 12:34 AM
The Nico's body is on the court, but his head it's in other side.

10-29-2008, 12:36 AM
Well he better find his head quickly.

He held to start the second..

1-0* Nico...

10-29-2008, 12:38 AM
Nico is doing ZERO on Salamanca's serve. Salamanca is winning at love.

The guy is #356 - I don't care if he's from Colombia, he's not that good at #356. Just win, Nico! :fiery: At least get a couple of points on the guy's serve...

10-29-2008, 12:39 AM
I think Nico is not in-form. :(

10-29-2008, 12:58 AM
We're screw. Nico is playing his most awful tennis of the last weeks.

10-29-2008, 12:59 AM
Nico broke back.

10-29-2008, 12:59 AM
Are you watching the match???

10-29-2008, 01:07 AM
Nico finally woke up. :yeah:

6-4 second set. :woohoo:

10-29-2008, 01:10 AM
Nope, there's no international TV broadcast, but I'm imagining. :p

Great, Nico is raising his tennis. C'mon, you can, Nico. :D

10-29-2008, 01:16 AM
I'm imagining too. I've watched enough of Nico's matches to know how these things go....I'm sure you know the same.

10-29-2008, 01:20 AM
He he he... oh yeah. Damn, the scoreboard is down for me, please update me the score.

10-29-2008, 01:20 AM
My sb is stuck at 1-1.

Maybe there's no lights there???

10-29-2008, 01:36 AM
I just checked - looks like there might be showers there.

10-29-2008, 01:46 AM
Great.

But the scoreboard doesn't show anything, except the "Sirviendo (Serving)". The scoreboard of Florianopolis showed up the circumstances of the match when there was raining. :p

10-29-2008, 01:51 AM
There's nothing anywhere. I checked the two main Colombia online newspapers, and nothing there either.

I hate these small tournaments. In tennis, it's bad enough to get information on larger tournaments.

I'll give it 10 more minutes, and then I'm giving up for the night.

10-29-2008, 01:59 AM
Maybe the match was postponed for tomorrow. I don't like much that.

10-29-2008, 02:17 AM
I am really anxious about the score... :scared: 16 64 11... :scared: Let's hope Nico is ahead (if they are playing and it is a problem of the sb)

10-29-2008, 02:34 AM
I can't get the sb either. When ever this match is finished, you MUST win Nico!!!

10-29-2008, 03:29 AM
well indeed, it was a rain delay, the rest of the match will be played tomorrow aroung 5pm local time, let's hope Nico can pull it off after that awfull first set :o

10-29-2008, 11:54 AM
Thanks for the info Kid! :yeah:

Yeah, hopefully Nico can pull it out. Really bad first set last night.

10-29-2008, 06:01 PM
VAMOS NICO!!! :fiery:

10-29-2008, 07:05 PM
Nico won 1-6 6-4 6-1 :yeah:

10-29-2008, 08:00 PM

I guess he woke up!!! :rolls:

Wow, did I figure the time wrong. :o I thought the match started just a little while ago.

10-29-2008, 08:03 PM
Me too Nicofan :awww: But as long as Nico won!!!!

It is a good sign that he can come back from a first set like that and also keep his mometum after a rain delay :yeah: Great job Nico!!!

10-29-2008, 08:04 PM
He probably did better without us following him...too many stressed out negatives vibes traveling down to Colombia. :rolls:

10-29-2008, 09:18 PM
Yeah, Nico did it!

Great comeback in the 2nd set and a fantastic 5-0 today. :D

10-29-2008, 10:29 PM
Next opponent: Thiago Alves

10-30-2008, 01:12 AM
Nico is up first tomorrow (Thursday): noon Colombia time.

(Bummer - I'll miss following the match because I'll be getting ready for class then.)

10-30-2008, 01:13 AM
He probably did better without us following him...too many stressed out negatives vibes traveling down to Colombia. :rolls:

From us??? Yeah, from us :awww: Its great to see Nico regaininging his mental toughness, now we have to too :p

10-30-2008, 01:25 AM
 Sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry, didn't mean to include you in.

He probably did better without ME following him...I know that I send out too many stressed out vibes to his matches. :o

10-30-2008, 03:43 AM
Great result Nico and nice come back :yeah: ... now please, no more "naps" tomorrow during your match :rolls:

Vamos Nico!!! Keep it going :fiery:

10-30-2008, 04:23 AM
 Sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry, didn't mean to include you in.

He probably did better without ME following him...I know that I send out too many stressed out vibes to his matches. :o

Oh, I do the same thing Nicofan   There is no denying that I was getting pretty depressed before he started to win again-In fact, its been since I've been missing his matches (for one reason or another)that he's been winning. Coincidence? I think not :aplot:

10-30-2008, 09:51 AM
good work Nico!

10-30-2008, 10:46 PM
Shame shame one posted the score.

NICO WON! :bounce:

He beat Thiago Alves 6-2, 7-6 (7).

Next up: Paul (again)

VAMOS NICO! :fiery:

10-31-2008, 12:20 AM
Nico :yeah:

vs Paul again

10-31-2008, 02:15 AM
:woohoo: Nico!!! Now to beat Paul again :yeah:

10-31-2008, 02:19 AM
Nico will take part in the Petrobras Masters :). The groups:

Nicolás Massú (CHI)
Marcos Daniel (BRA)
Peter Luczak (AUS)
Gastón Gaudio (ARG)

Martín Vasallo-Arguello (ARG)
Thomaz Bellucci (BRA)
Paul Capdeville (CHI)
Mariano Puerta (ARG)

Interesting. The Paul's group is very tough.

PS. Congrats, Nico. Good victory and good luck against Paul, again. :)

10-31-2008, 02:44 AM
Thanks for the info Andy. :yeah:

Here's the OOP for Friday - Nico and Paul play around 5:30 Colombia time.

10-31-2008, 03:13 AM
no shame for me 'cause I saw the score after the match was finished but I can't post on MTF during the day, you know :o

Congrats Nico! :yeah: ... now, to beat Paul again :rocker2:

Vamooos!! :fiery:

10-31-2008, 03:34 PM
Nico!!! :D

good luck against Paul  :fiery:

10-31-2008, 09:30 PM
Nico's match is up next. :)

I won't be able to follow the entire match because little pumpkins will be coming to the door once it gets dark looking for candy for Halloween.

GO NICO GO GO GO!! :fiery:

10-31-2008, 10:08 PM
They started...good luck to Nico!

10-31-2008, 11:09 PM
And Paul wins the 1st Set by 7-5. Same score than the last encounter at Floripa. And we hope the same result, a victory of Nico in 3 sets. :D

10-31-2008, 11:16 PM
I hope so too.

But sucks that Paul won the first.

10-31-2008, 11:29 PM
Yeah, maybe. But I have encountered feelings when two Chileans face each other, because I want that Nico raises his game and begins to have good results at ATP level and I want Paul back into the Top 100, then, I don't know, maybe I prefer Nico because he has gave to me a pair of the most happiest moments in my life.

10-31-2008, 11:53 PM
And that was all, 5-7, 3-6.

10-31-2008, 11:59 PM

Well, sadness.

But I guess Paul had to win one at some point.

Poor Nico...

Santiago doesn't have any points, does it?

And then Medellin should end the season for him.

11-01-2008, 12:33 AM
 Nico

Yeah, sooner or later Paul was bound to win against Nico.

11-01-2008, 12:48 AM
Hey Ms. KidNicky - there's a tournie in Cancun in November ... maybe Nico will play there. :aplot: Cancun is one of his favorite places and he usually goes on vacation there. Maybe he'll play and then hang out on the beach for a couple of weeks. :yeah:

If he plays there, you'll have to figure out a way to get there. :)

11-01-2008, 01:52 AM
unexpected one IMO

but so happy for Paul :yeah:

well, Nico did a good run at the end of season and converted a disaster into a decent showing in the challengers, he will be into the top 80 on monday, almost the same rank that he finished last year

11-01-2008, 03:01 AM
oh Nico :awww: at least I hope that thi should be the last match between them, at least for this season :p

I'm not sure if he'd play that tournament, I didn't know there was a tournament there :rolls: he probably would go to Cancun anyway but not to play tennis at all :rolls:

11-01-2008, 11:34 AM
Yup, the week of November 24, there is a teeny tiny challenger in Cancun. :yeah:

I doubt he'd play it too - there's a bigger challenger in Lima, Peru that week that he'd play before Cancun.

But just a thought. He's probably headed towards Mexico way for vacation, so why not?

11-01-2008, 05:54 PM
I really had no idea about that teeny tiny challenger  so thanks for the info :yeah: ... but if he's going to Cancun, it's not for playing tennis that's for sure, besides, the winter is coming and it's not the best time to be at the beach here :rolls:

11-05-2008, 07:46 PM
You can tell I'm not excited about the Santiago exhibition. Good for Nico because he gets money. Good for us because lots of pixs. But there are no points so not really important.

Hmmm....maybe I'm reading it wrong, but Nico makes it sound like this is the last tournament of the year. I thought he was going back to Colombia for the Medellin challenger.

From an interview on the Copa Petrobras site:

"At the end of the year, I played better and my ranking also improved. Already I am finalizing the year and I believe that the best form to finish it is participating of this tournament of exhibition, with some companions to whom I know does various years. It is nice the reunion of the public with me. This year I have played enough in Chile, in Vina, in the Cup Davis. But this is special, because there is no ranking, there is no points in dispute, there is no pressure. Last year I went to this cup to last minute and I passed it well and I won it. My goal in this event is to entertain me, without requiring anything. I want to finish the year, in my home and with my people."

11-05-2008, 11:47 PM
Lynn! Hi, are you there?

Nico is on court, right now. Nico leads 4-0. :D

11-05-2008, 11:54 PM
I'm here! :wavey:

Wow...Nico won the first set 6-0!!! :woohoo:

11-05-2008, 11:55 PM
Can you watch the match on TV???

11-06-2008, 12:01 AM
This Copa Petrobras live ticker is awful! I hate waiting as those seconds countdown. Dumb....

11-06-2008, 12:11 AM
Try this live scoreboard.

And nope, there's no TV coverage. :( And I don't know if the semis or final gonna be televised, maybe through the TyC Sports channel. I wanna go this Saturday to the tournament, but it's a little bit far from where I live.

11-06-2008, 12:14 AM
Thanks! :) I'll try the other scoreboard.

Hopefully you'll be able to go Saturday. :yeah: That would be cool.

If you go, you'll have to take lots of pixs. :)

11-06-2008, 12:16 AM
Much better.

Thank goodness for terra. :yeah:

11-06-2008, 12:19 AM
Ha ha ha... Obviously that if I go, I'll take a lot of pics. ;)

11-06-2008, 12:26 AM
Yeay... :yeah:

A little bit harder set. :scared:

11-06-2008, 12:32 AM
Well just when I say the match is getting harder, Nico goes and breaks...

4*-3 NICOOOO! :fiery:

11-06-2008, 12:37 AM
Fantastic. Lynn, you are the Nico's MTF amulet. :D

11-06-2008, 12:49 AM

11-06-2008, 12:50 AM
My scoreboard is stuck at 40-15... :(

11-06-2008, 12:51 AM
There it is...

NICO won 6-0, 6-4!!!

Nice win by NICO! :)

11-06-2008, 12:57 AM
Yeah, great victory. I'm so happy for him, great end of season. Paul also won, so, I hope to go this Saturday. If I go, I'll tell you on Friday. :)

11-06-2008, 01:05 AM
Yes, definitely let us know! That will be fun to see Nico play GG. :yeah:

11-06-2008, 02:48 AM
nice score and win :yeah: although it's an exhibition, it's always nice to see him winning :)

have a nice time if you go this next sunday A_Rod ;)

11-06-2008, 11:25 PM
I don't know where to put this.

I just read an article about how Paul is moving to North Miami so he can be closer to his coach (who is Brazilian) and also so he can be closer to the North American tournaments.

This is what I wanted from Nico... :bigcry: Not so much that he'd move to the US, but that he would do something outside the box to try to get better and move back up.

Fernando did it with Stefanki (and it worked). Now Paul (we'll see if it works).

Instead Nico gets the same type of coaches, he'll stay in Chile the entire off season and won't think outside the box to get prepared for 2009.

Oh's always been like this, I would go into shock if he ever tried anything different. :rolls:

11-07-2008, 01:54 AM
let's face it NicoFan, the only thing that you want is to have Nico closer, is not about anything else :p just kidding :rolls:

well maybe Paul took that decision 'cause he knows and thinks he could do better on hardcourts not like Nico, that nobody would ever convince him that he's good in other surface that is not clay

11-07-2008, 04:40 AM
Nice win Nico :yeah:

Nico must like being in the box  :awww:

11-07-2008, 12:16 PM
Doesn't do me any good to have Nico closer, I don't have the money to go see him. And I get annoyed watching him now because I know he's not thinking outside the box. :(

Yeah, there's no convincing him that he can do well on any other surface than clay. He says he likes clay - no problem with that, I love clay best too. But the game has moved to the point where a player has to be good on all surfaces to be competitive in the rankings. If he didn't have any good results on hardcourt, his incredible resistance and aversion to hardcourts would be understandable, but he's had his best results (meaning the big touranments that he's done well at - Olympics, Madrid and best showing at a Grand Slam is at the US Open) are on hardcourts.

So yes, he likes his box, but top players are never people who remain inside the box.

11-07-2008, 10:24 PM
No one seems to be around tonight, but here I am.

Nico's match against Luczak began, and he's up 1-0* :yeah:

11-07-2008, 10:25 PM
BTW, GG got killed by Adrian...

I like Adrian but was kind of hoping GG would do well so that he would have motivation to come back. But doesn't sound like he was that motivated today from what I've read.

Oh well maybe he'll do better as the week progresses.

11-07-2008, 10:27 PM
Oh wait that was a break by Nico! :yeah:

1*-0 Nico... :)

11-07-2008, 10:33 PM
2*-1... :)

11-07-2008, 11:09 PM

Seems from the commments on cooperativa that our Nico isn't happy....doesn't like the court, the calls...

now it 5*-4 Nico serving for the set.

11-07-2008, 11:16 PM
Nico broken back... 5-5

Nothing much ever changes  ... up a break, serving out the set, gets tight, gets broken.

11-07-2008, 11:25 PM
Awwww Nico...

Lost the first set 7-5 after being up 5*-4 and serving for the match.

Oh well...

11-08-2008, 12:04 AM

7-5, 6-1

Thank goodness it's an exhibition.

But nevertheless troubling.

11-08-2008, 01:33 AM
come on NF, stop being that hard with Nico :o

Nico tanked for Medellin, that's all. ;)

11-08-2008, 02:12 AM
Oh Nicolas :o :p

and I'm sorry about GG but it was expected, I've only seeing him being hanging out in Miami or other places for Tenis Pro, not on tennis courts :p

11-08-2008, 03:40 AM
:awww: Too bad about Nico's loss. Sorry you were alone for it Nicofan :o At least it was just an exhibition and no points invovled.

11-08-2008, 11:50 AM
come on NF, stop being that hard with Nico :o

Nico tanked for Medellin, that's all. ;)

How was I being mean to Nico?

Geez, I give up here.

11-08-2008, 07:29 PM
How was I being mean to Nico?

Geez, I give up here.

 come on, even Nico wasnt worry about this

the bad thing is the crowd, yesterday Nico was booed badly cause he let Luczak winning without fighting :o

also Nico said that is more possible he will withdraw from Medellin, he said that he's tired and needs a rest since he played 31 events this year :wavey:

He didn't tank the first set - he was trying, but got tight at the end.

He did give up in the second though and that is what I was talking about. I can't stand when he does that - shows a bad attitude.

And he should be booed badly. People pay good money to see these events, and it's disrespectful when player's tank. I've seen Nico do it many times, and it's not right. He should be ashamed to do it in front of a home crowd. I don't care how tired he is - if he was that tired, he shouldn't have played and taken the money to play in the tournament.

Too bad he might not play Medellin, but if he's not going to put in 100%, then he should withdraw.

I can't boo an idol, that's some people here in Chile can't understand.

Nico is an inmortal, an idol. That kind of people can't be insulted. Never.

That bunch of retards doesn't now a sh*t about tennis. :retard:

Sorry disagree.

Just because Nico won a gold doesn't mean that he has a right to be disrespectful to people who work hard for their money and take part of that hard earned money to come watch him.

People expect to see what they pay for - meaning a hard fought match from both players. They don't pay good money to see a player tank.

I have lot of problems with spoiled athletes who don't show up to play. And that includes Nico, even though he's my favorite.

I will again be accused of being mean to Nico - so be it. I basically held my tongue last night, but since you brought it up, I'll explain why it annoyed me. ;)

Just becasue I'm his fan doesn't mean that I can't say what I think about his on court behavior (don't care about his off court behavior.)

Again, if he was too tired to play, he shouldn't have played to begin with. One of the rules of tennis - if you can't finish the match or play at your best, you shouldn't come out on the court to begin with.

From where I come from, if you are paid money, you do the work. Since he took the money, he should try his hardest.
