Brendan has had an impressive week in Rockhampton making the final and will play Nick Lindahl. After this week Brendan will be ranked inside the top 1000 but also has the chance to jump ahead of Bernard in the rankings if he wins this future tournament. The most important thing now is how he backs this up next week in Kawana. Either way its great to see more and more young aussies coming through with big results out of no where. Hopefully he eventuates into a player thats playing challengers next year.

Good to see another young Aussie coming through.

According to his profile on Tennis Australia, he has a strong all around game and grass is his favourite surface.

he doesnt deserve a cheer thread yet im sure hes one of those players who makes a final of an event and doesnt make it past R1 anywhere else outside of aus or even plays the seniors overseas i reckon this thread will fail quickly.

Yeah I was hesitant to make this thread but seeing as he made the final I feel he deserves some recognition and if you are right and he doesn't do much for the next year then I guess we can just remove this thread.

Well Brendan has come good again this week taking out Nick Lindahl on route to the semis where he'll play John Millman. With Lindahl out and Coelho being the highest ranked player left I think Brendan is a big shot to win this title.

Guess he wasnt just a flash in the pan.

Nice win for McKenzie. Let me know, however, if he ever makes the top 200.
Not strong enough or tall enough to match it with the Tour level players.

Lindahl :tape: wow, that is a shocking loss, doubt he will ever be top 150 now  He has really struggled all year

This time last year Nick was winning ATP Tour matches.

Brendan just won 18's nationals and has a wildcard into the play off for an Aus Open wildcard. I saw some matches in the 18's and he played very well.

Yeah, kept some consistent form over the Futures Events and capped it off with a nice win at the 18s Nationals. He also upset Brydan Klein at the AO Playoff and made the quarter finals. He has clearly improved since I saw him play last. If he is able to maintain some consistency and play a full schedule, could make a run for the top 500 in 2009.

Good luck in Australian Open qualifying...

At such a young age one should display diplomacy.

Im not sure about Brendan Thomas or Marsland but I know Steve Donald quit tennis. Something about him being more interested in AFL than tennis. Shame though because he had some good junior results.

Talk was Brendan was turfedfrom AIS - was undisciplined or something - shame he was a good competitor. Wasn't a particularly tall kid though - might have been a late maturer.

Mc Kenzie has quit tennis, Thomas had problem which lead to him leaving AIS. Best he tells you what happened. Clifford I think had gone to college. No 1990 birth year boys in AIS program. There are a couple of capable ones that have always been ignored by TA still battling along. Under TA youth policy they will continue to be ignored.

Mckenzie made a comeback of sorts this week in Cairns.

He was beaten in the 3rd round of qualies by Michael Look. Good to see him back.
