New York New York

I have checked the USO draw and holy shit Willy has drawn Crazy Elf (Del Porto) 1st rd . I Guess he won't be sticking around for to long, maybe if his gf is doing some fashion shows in NY he can attend them. He really is not having a good year.

I have posted the draw.

I hate the draw

08-22-2008, 06:09 AM
It certainly does suck and I can't see Crazy Elf going off the boil and having a bd game.

08-22-2008, 03:01 PM
I don't think Willy will be able to handle Del Potro

Bad draw in deed, I guess apart from Rafa Del potro is the player with best results right now

I hope I didn't sound too pessimistic but I was thinking this morning I would rather him take a really long break to get his game, mentality and whatever else but into shape so he can come back strong when the time is right. Hoping for good things in the not too near future for him. But along as he is happy I guess that is the main thing. Though I don' think he would of been too happy when he saw he was playing Del Porto.

Snoo can you please take photos of the two of them if you get to see their match. Thanks.

Well Ange I will if I can, I was thinking they might put them in Arthur Ashe thanks to Delpo getting so popular in which case I won't even get to see it... I sure hope they put them on a outside court... usually they only put US players & Nadal/Federer/Djokovic/Ivanovic/Sharapova in Ashe during the early rounds so... cross your fingers.

Snoo have a great time you lucky girl. I might get some action on the tv, if I am lucky.

(I copied this from the picture thread so not to clutter it up with chitchat)

I think he needs someone to put some suntan lotion on him as he looks a bit burnt. Of course I volunteer, but you can be my backup since you are doing a great job at photographing him.

Oh Ange imagining why you need "backup" is cracking me up. Like, in case you lose your balance and fall off? Or if we need to hold him down? Or you succumb to the vapors and can't finish the job? Yeah as for the serve, the practicing, when he sees me saunter up with my little camera he just starts posing and rubbing himself and smirking so I can't comment.

But I see why he does it, the ladies come flocking, the other day all these girls (like age 13) were yelling "We love you Guillermo!" and "You have a hot body Guillermo!" and "Don't forget us Guillermo!" It was really cute, in a sick way. Then this family came to watch him and the kids wanted to leave and the mother wanted to stay and the dad was like, "Your mother just wants to watch this guy with no shirt." And yesterday this woman was asking me all these questions about him and saying all seriously, "I really like the way he hits" and I was thinking, "I bet you do."

Snoo you crack me up. I am watching the men's baskeball team at the moment. And they are no way as good looking as the tennis players. They need to go at ask for some hottness tips.

I do think I might lose my balance or faint. I do agree he does have a one of the better bodies on tour, wish he was included in the ATP calendar.

I have posted the OOP and he is last on the Armstrong stadium. Willy is also playing doubles with Luis Arnold Kerr. They might even win their 1st rd match.

Willy good luck against Del Porto.

08-25-2008, 02:00 PM
 To be honest, I don't have much hope for today's match. Delpo is in pretty good form lately and I doubt Willy will beat him.
I like Del Potro too, but I'd really want Willy to win this. He needs the points and the confidence boost :awww:
Vamos boy!

OMG I've walked into work and checked the sb and Willy has taken the 1st set. Woohoo good way to start my day. Also if I was at home I could of watched the match as my pay tv channel would of been showing the match. As long as he wins I don't care.

08-26-2008, 02:56 AM
Well, he lost the match. I saw bits and pieces of the match and he was not playing badly, less unforced errors would've been better but all in all it was a good match. actually it was Del Potro who had his ups and downs during the match and I guess that is why Willy had his chances.

But I liked the way they hugged at the end of the match and it was very funny that the chair umpire was Damien Steiner (i guess) and he's Argentinean too so they were like three friends joking :D.

08-26-2008, 03:43 AM
:hug:Wedda thanks for the comments. At least one thing about Willy he is always gracious in defeat and that is one of the reasons I really like him. Wish I could give him a big hug.

08-26-2008, 04:09 PM
 Too bad he lost but not unexpected. Delpo's form has been good lately.
Glad there was a great hug in the end but that's how it should be.

For a consolation prize Willy and Luis won their doubles match in straight sets. Nice job boys.

08-31-2008, 02:23 AM
Well the boys lost a 3rd set tb to the glam duo couple Verdasco /Lopez. Bad luck guys.

08-31-2008, 09:40 AM
Too bad

I tried recording it because it was on too late for me and Eurosport player covers court 13, but when their match started the player said "Live over for today"

I got to see the match vs. Delpo and they let us sit wherever we wanted cuz not that many people were there (it was kind of late and there was a big ceremony going on in Ashe, also I think they overestimated JMDP's popularity, he is getting treated like a rockstar by a lot of fans but not enough to fill up Armstrong stadium on a Monday night). So I got to sit in the second row right on the baseline, it was like sitting on the court with them, so I could hear everything they said, it was great to sit so close. Also it was great to see Willy playing so well for a set and a half, Del Potro was sloppy but Willy was amazing for a while, it was great to see him so fired up. Unfortunately his first serve completely disappeared after about a set and a half, it was just miserable.... also JMDP managed to get himself into the zone, that kid is really an awesome competitor. But yeah it was nice they hugged at the end. I was completely gutted though. :bigcry:

I saw the last few games of his 1st doubles match (against I forgot who... Hanescu and somebody... ) and he was really having fun, the lovely Fabiana was there, I didn't see her during qualleez but after the tournament started she was at all his practices, sitting on a park bench minding her own business, texting. She must be very patient because after a while even I got tired of watching him. Also I saw them kissing and he had a huuuuuuuuge smile on his face so good for him. :yeah:

Then yesterday I saw his doubles match against Florence & Verdasco, in the first set they just killed them, the spaniards looked like amateurs but then they really stepped it up, Florence was serving huge, Lucas started to struggle a little on serve, I couldn't believe the lefties came back so strong. Then the 3d set was obviously super tight, it was super fun to watch, some really amazing points as there always are in doubles. At one point Lucas served and immediately dropped his racket but the spaniards & Willy kept playing the point while Lucas was just frozen there on the court with his racket on the ground, there was about a 5-stroke rally with just the spaniards vs. Willy, it was so insane, then Verdasco kind of stopped playing the point and complained to the umpire that the argentines should have lost the point because Lucas dropped his racket, I think Verdasco might have been right really but the umpire ruled in favor of Team Willy  which pissed Verdasco off even more. After it went into the 3d I had a bad feeling just cuz Lucas was struggling so hard on serve, he had one game where I think he double-faulted 3 or 4 times but still managed too hold.

so... yeah I got to see a lot of Willy, that's for sure... either he practices a lot or I have some kind of built-in homing device that magically draws me to wherever he is practicing cuz I think I saw him practicing at least a little bit every day from the 2d or 3d day of qualleez. The funniest thing was when I saw him finish a practice and put his shirt on, because he never ever ever has a shirt on, so he put a shirt on and I thought omg it's a miracle, alert the media, willy has a shirt on! Then he walked to the next practice court, practiced for about 2 minutes, then promptly took his shirt off again before continuing.

I have a lot of pictures, I will try to post them in the pix thread but don't know if they will fit...

Snoo you make me laugh. I wish he would take his hair out of that bloody ponytail. I want to see his curly hair. I am so glad that him and Fabulous Fabiana are still together as I hadn't seen them together for ages. I think I am a little bit obsessed with him ok make that a lot.

But even though he lost I'm glad he is happy and healthy and enjoying life.

OT - I'm glad this site is such a happy place and with lots of nice pics and people.

Have a good day everyone. Vamos JMDP.

Thanks for the report Snoo!! :D Glad you had so much fun!

@Aquarianbabe: There is a pic of Willy without the ponytail in the picture thread somewhere (Umag last year) but in fact I like it better with the ponytail because it is too long without it (it's double of the length of the ponytail)

09-01-2008, 12:09 PM
I thought it looked a lot shorter than last year in Umag.

yikes there is a whole lot of naughty going on in that picture...

No Snoo that is your dirty mind. I still think his hair is not as long as in that picture.
