Because Murray or Karlovic can't beat Djokovic or Nadal? I must have imagined what happened in Toronto.

Nadal is exhausted, but I still think that he will raise his level tomorrow and will win in 2 tough sets. His body is done, but his mantal power is always there, and Nadal just doesn't wanna drop 1 set, he wants to win, and he wants to win in straights.

PS: the #1 is always the favourite imo, being Nadal or being any other player, the #1 is the favourite.

Clay Monster is finally worn out and mentally weary. it is going to be tough if Djokovic plays as well as he can on hard courts.

i would still not bet against the ultimate doomsday stroking machine.

he has that extra dimension. its called TESTICULAR FORTITUDE.

wilmar
08-02-2008, 03:13 AM
It'll be Nadal's first match after being confirmed as the new #1 so it will be a real shame if he lose the match to Novak. I hope securing the top position will further boost Nadal's belief of his capabilities on the hard courts. My only concern is of his fatigue (he has certainly played way more matches than Novak).
Novak also had easier runs in this tourny so may be fresher. But I think he may be intimidated by Nadal still. It'll be an open match but my heart is for Nadal to win.

Sadly, the streak ends here. Rafa has achieved what he needed to do this week, and is mentally and physically spent from getting there. Djoko has found his game again somewhat, and in a best of three sets on hardcourts he's the toughest proposition for Rafa, and the only situation where someone else might be the "favourite". I'm going with Djoko something like 7-5 6-3. Get some rest Rafa!

its tough to say. you can just see that Nadal is worn out. i just hope he doesnt risk an injury by trying too hard.

his mental toughness gives him the edge in this match and he has that confidence thing going as well.

Nadal in 3 sets if he can recover just a little by tomorrow evening. my thinking is that Djokovic will spend all his capital in trying to win the 1st set.

Nadal, if he has anything left, will then turn on the after burners and go for the match in the last 2 sets.

sounds like a good script anyway. Djokovic is tough as nails on fast hard courts.

:confused:Nadal has proved that a long time and isn't USO 07 for Djokovic was, kind of a mental deal(to some degree maybe)?
I feel Djokovic is the coldest hot man on ATP, he puts on his cold mask successfully most of the time, but sometimes his avidity(maybe along with a bit lather) just appear through his body language(kind of otiose IMO). Nadal is the hottest cold man, he roars, he fists; but inside, his calmness, his ataraxia is maybe the best I've ever seen.

No offense...Just a little feeling...any way I hope Novak prevails.:)

It's so funny as soon as Nadal faces an opponent that may beat him, Rafatards come out with an excuse to preempt the whole thing. Rafa's done his body's done. He is a dead man walking. If he loses, he was done. If he wins, it's Vamos Rafa. Come on guys! Rafa's has not played a day match yet and by no means should be that tired. If he is tired beating people 6-0, 6-1, then I guess he should shine that No. 1 title up for the next No.1 Djokovic.

As a Rafa fan you should know your man better! I don't think anything pumps him up as much as an opportunity to play Federer or Djokovic, because he often brings out the best in him against this kind of opposition.

I remember how he had a bit of trouble disposing of Gulbis in Wimbledon, took Kiefer and Youzhny comfortably in 3, and then brought out the big game against Murray. His last 3 games were the ones where he went all out (not that he needed to against Schuettler).

Tonight will be the same. I wouldn't say he wins 100%, but he's going to play a big game, and Novak will have to do something special to beat him.

I really have no clue. None.

At IW earlier this year, Novak was full of confidence and swinging freely while Rafa was struggling with his own game and couldn't really string any form together. Some five, six months later, the roles are completely reversed. Novak playing Rafa on a hardcourt is always going to make it close, but who knows who will win. Probably Nadal, but I hope not. Novak needs the complete American hardcourt TMS collection. Then Beijing. Then US Open. Thanks.
