Catastrophic from Serra with capital letters. Total points won 20:50...

Seems that Serra is a very easy match-up for Nadal. In this year's AO Serra took 4 games in 3 sets vs him.

It doesn't beat Donald's super-performance in R1, however.

Total Destruction, indeed.

Congrats Rafa for a very convincing performance! Great serving, especially. Didn't at all have to play his best game, just a very good day at the office. :worship: :yeah:

But, eh, it has to be said: Serra was/is a total mug. Looked a Beaten Man as soon as he was out there. Stayed behind the baseline all throughout the match... yeah, now THAT is of course the proper tactic to hurt Rafa... :haha: I always try to give credits to the loser, but in this case, it's a tough job indeed. :help:

I'm sure Gasquet and Serra will be enjoying their game of petanque together as soon as they're back home.

Hopefully Haas wil at least be able to give Raf a match.

All Norm's fault. Nadal went up to inspect the mark - he found a mark that was clearly wide and asked Norm. Norm said he thought that was the mark in question so Nadal challenged.

Then it turned out the mark was the wrong one entirely and the serve had been well in.

So, good eye, Norm! :worship:

I agree. He has already played three times Federer in his last winning streak. They don't come much easier than that. Unfortunately after today's demolition of Serra Federer probably won't make it to the final and Nadal will have to play a more dangerous player to win Cincinnati.

No, Haas will not be the one to end the streak.

For whatever reasons, the poor movement, shallow ground strokes, and mediocre serves that usually accompany a very weary Nadal at this portion of the season are nowhere to be found. The icing on the cake is that along with his significantly improved play, he is also not wasting energy. He's getting through 9/10 matches very easily.

This will be over in two relatively easy sets for Rafa. He may have said he has no idea how many matches he has to win to be #1, but :bs: He knows and he will leave a piece of himself out there to win this tournament...or get to the semi at least.

As for the streak's end  No idea. Perhaps an on-fire Djokovic could do it IF Rafa drops his level some. I think it will take a top player playing well to do it though. My guess is this streak will not end abruptly, courtesy of some unknown, as some of his other streaks have. But his level will have to drop for it to end. He's playing with uncharted levels of confidence and quality right now, and he will be ready when he goes out against an opponent he knows he can lose to...
