Another 2 sets for the price of 1 match in the heat of Cincinnati.

Fully deserved bagel for Richie - once he went down a break in the second the output effort was minimal.

what the hell is wrong with gasquet? is it conditioning? the first set was good tennis. gasquet's first service game in the second set was just atrocious but I thought he was just disheartened by the tiebreak and would step it up.

I looked away for a second. Did Tursunov screamed like a moose hit by a van in the last game?

Hopefully, Dima will carry this form to the match with Murray too, very well played :yeah:.

Man, it's 7pm there. It might still be humid but it's absolutely no excuse for Gasquet's woeful effort in the 2nd.

Tursunov rarely goes longer than 6 shots in a rally. It was hardly a draining match. Just a total lack of balls and guts.

First set was good but you always felt that Tursunov was the superior player and was already outplaying and outpowering Gasquet from the baseline.

Tennis matches last longer than a set, Richard, take note. :o

Tursunov's scream was by far the highlight of the match, good luck to him in the next round. :)

Richard was completely outplayed after first set.

Congrats to Mitya for playing very well for second match of the year. :)

Too bad he is gonna do nothing against Murray and for the rest of the year once again.

No, not really, though he played excellent in the first too. You're just angry because of the second set ;)

I like Gasquet too but the guy is hopeless.

Excellent quality in the first set. that could have gone either way. Then Richard collapses and sprays errors all over in the 2nd. Very good performance from Tursunov.

Once Richie lost the tie-break he disappeared. Hardly a surprise...

Mitya's backhand was on fire today  But against Murray it will be :help: once again.

I really enjoyed that first set. Exquisite tennis from both, could have gone either way.

But omg, what a :retard: :speakles: :help:-performance from Gasquet in that second set. What a mindset - losing that first set in a good TB, and consequtively completely autocombusting in the second.
Total absense of any fighting spirit. What a joke, what a total waste of tennis talent...

Congrats to Tursunov for keeping his head together, playing very solidly, and taking care of the job as he should. :yeah:

Saw the whole match. It was not that hot and humid today. Gasquet folded, Dima stayed steady. The shriek was hilarious, netted an easy return.

I missed this match but I'm getting 2 different reports about the second set? What happened? Did Tursunov outplay and destroyed Gasquet in the second yet or did Gasquet just lose interest and gave the set away, like what usually happens. I have never really seen Gasquet being outplayed, it's always a case of him collapsing completely because he doesn't try hard enough.

Tursunov's thriving on hard courts. Congrats to him.

Hope that whatever issues Gasquet is struggling with will be resolved soon and that we will see better things from him by the US Open. He's too good to give up so easily.

He was not struggling with anything, he just did not care. That might be a lamentable attitude for a pro, but it is less tragic than some of you want us to make believe.

Think Richie needs to realise that even with his talent it's no good just dreaming of success; he needs to wake up and work hard at it.

I think he needs a girlfriend.

Perhaps that you have a point there!
I mean, the guy so cruelly lacks confidence in himself that you have to wonder if a lack of girlfriend is not one of the reasons for that.

Did he just give up after the tie-break?

Pretty much. Gasquet could just as easily have defaulted the match after the TB. He is good for just one set nowadays. I guess that is an improvement over losing badly in the 1st set as well.

OMG, Richie really is one of the most "fightless" players out there.
Win a tight set against him or take a big lead in the match and he will probably call it a day.
Richie, you need some :help: to really use your talent...
