well looks like Ferrero and Moyà will be doing a bit of jet setting cos Beijing finishes on the 19th then they'll have to go back to Spain for Davis Cup starting on 24th and then Carlos is down to play Bangkok and Juan Carlos is down to play Shanghai which both start on the 27th..I'd be surprised if they went to Asia twice so quickly...either they won't play Beijing or they won't play Bangkok/Shanghai

Yes - I must say I wonder how many of these top players really will make an appearance in Beijing. Guess a lot will depend on how they get on in the US - but I personally don't see anyone who makes it deep into the second week in New York playing here somehow.

Those spanish-speakers have been playing on the 'asian circuit' for a while now... two years ago ferrero, moya, safin and some others all showed up in hong kong. beijing should be able to afford more high-profile players lol...

if those are the players you follow, you should definitely plan to go! safer to get the early round tickets though..... ;)

agreed! Since Beijing is supposedly the replacement for Hong Kong, I think Ferrero will be there. Not sure about Shanghai though, since he usually doesn't play in the Heineken Open.

Plus... didn't Safin do a promotional tour last year to promote the tournament? Surely...... he has to be there? lol.

Eiffel- in your signature, are you trying to say the Juanqui is agressive? What's the reasoning behind that? I understand about safin, but ferrero agressive?

This is a bit weird, actually. Last year, JC did the same mistake like going half around the world after most tournament. I don't think they will skip the tournament, but I think the matches would be scheduled in such a way that they will be playing continously everyday without any rest day in between.

i cant wait until the open starts... it will be a very interesting tournament, and i expect it will be a popular one with the players no doubt, as it will have very unusual sights, and they will have plenty of nice places to look round. maria sharapova said she wants to be the first winner of the tournament. good luck to all competitors (and tourney officials ;))

Yes, Coria had surgery and his season is over. He is hoping to be back in time to play the Masters Cup in Houston.

Just saw that Alex is in because of a couple of WDs but if a rumor that I have just read in the NY Post is spot on...I'm sure he'll wait an extra few days before he goes over to Asia

Nah, consider the source. And you know better than anyone he's too smart to go near that fire again, at least not that close.

not quite, he wrote on his site that he's hoping to be back for TMS Paris. I don't really think that's a good sign tho, he rushes things too much...

Yeah, Coria's coach, Markus, said that the best thing Coria could do was to wait till next year, but I think Guillermo has other plans. I hope he doesn't rush to anything cause he'll make it worse.

During David's match against Youzhny, our commentators were saying Coria would definately be out until January 2005. Don't know what their sources were, but he does have a habit of rushing things and making his injuries worse, so I hope he listens to Markus on this one. Tim Henman was out for nearly 6 months after similar surgery a few years ago - it definately needs that long I think.

But Coria's surgery was different, I don't know how to explain it, but they didn't need to open the whole thing, I think it's a new technic or something...
